MLB The Show 19 Diamond Dynasty Details, Video and Screenshots - Signature Series Revealed

GameStop has posted their official MLB Monday, featuring MLB The Show 19’s Diamond Dynasty mode with Ramone Russell.

The team also provided details on their new Signature Series here. If a player has a Signature Series card in MLB The Show 19, it will be a visual sign that this is his best version in Diamond Dynasty. Most – not all – of these Signature Series players will be rated 99 OVR and there will be a lot of them.

We’ve embedded the Diamond Dynasty video below, along with some bulleted details and captured screenshots. Make sure to post your thoughts.

  • This year, Diamond Dynasty is focused on letting you play the game, the way you want to, while earning rewards as well
  • XP Rewards Path – Earn XP by playing anywhere in the game and earn big time rewards, everything from Diamond players to special unlockable items
  • Team Affinity – Earn rewards as you’re racking up innings with players from your favorite team. The more innings, the more team specific rewards
  • Conquest mode has seen a major overhaul. Upgrades with new maps, scenarios attacking stongholds and stealing fans, and new challenges needing your sharpest skills and strategies
  • More customizable options – Baseball bats with flames, diamonds and dozens of creative designs
  • New Choice Packs are now part of ranked seasons and battle royale rewards at the highest levels of Diamond Dynasty

  1. Jeez, people on here really don't like DD? Lol anywho it looks like they made grinding a bit easier, because last year that's just too many hours of forced mind numbing gameplay. Also, looks like they just broke everything from last year and made them into smaller groups. I can't wait though! New game mode plus all the stuff we already love!

My mom always sad, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."
I'll only watch the stream Thursday to see if there is any gameplay shown.

I am looking forward to playing DD again, which is not a statement I thought I would say after last year when I quickly burnt out on the grind.
And you are correct. DD is not a mode that is enjoyed by many of the regulars here.
I really got into DD last year...I enjoyed the freshness of it after burning out on Franchise Mode pretty quickly. It was fun to acquire cards and collections - made me feel like a kid again, with my trading card binder in front of me.
However, some of the content releases (especially the way they implemented the Finest program), turned me off.
I got slideritis really bad last spring and by May, I had grown so frustrated because of it that I stopped playing franchise. I had begun dabbling in DD in April, but by May/June, it became my primary mode (playing strictly offline). As a guy that collected cards as a kid in the 80s/90s, it was SO cool to see programs for guys I absolutely loved watching growing-up (guys like my all-time fav, Barry Larkin).
I just LOVED the DD program structure on 18. I had an "end goal" with the immortals, I had paths laid-out to get them. And these goals kept me going. Other card modes don't have an "end goal" for offline guys, it's just this never-ending cycle of short solos/modest team upgrade/short solos/modest team upgrade. There is nothing that makes me go, "Oh, THIS is what I am shooting for." Put it another way, playing other card modes offline is like playing franchise mode without there being playoffs/titles.
Anyways, being DD, I didn't have to worry about sliders and I could finally just enjoy playing baseball again. I focused on the missions, and played in the same 'clean screen' style I always do using the more ratings-based classic/directional/auto-fielding. I savored the programs, savored the missions, and had some serious fist-pump moments when I was able to complete some of those missions which I struggled with (I hate you Saltalamacchia). But I always had that end "goal" of getting those immortals. I of course engaged in the shorter programs (the futures program was fun, albeit way too short)...but I always had those end goals in mind. I accomplished most of what I really wanted to and went back to franchise mode in December with a very different perspective - the game is about having fun.
DD had its mis-steps last year, like those long "double" missions (which they later turned-course on and switched to XBH), "online only" immortals, and obviously in how the original immortals were rolled-out. The Finest program was very poorly executed and definitely left a bad taste in my mouth; but I also think this is why they are focusing on nearly everything being sellable this year.
Moving ahead to 2019; I'm nervous though. Will they go down the path of MUT and focus on these tiny little programs (which make offline play pointless) or will they give us some meaty, long-term goals to shoot for? The answer to this will dictate how much I play the mode this year.

I think as an offline player you’ll be happy. A big part of their focus last year and seemingly this year is balance it out and give the player more to do offline. 2 years ago there was basically only conquest.
I burned out hard on DD last year because I didn’t enjoy the mission structure. But this year they seem to have implemented a lot of variety and a lot of different ways to unlock cards so I’m getting hyped up again.

Oh, I get that but what I’m saying is that without a long term goal, it’s still pretty pointless no matter how many new conquest maps or ways to play they have. Does that make sense?

I’m weird in the sense that, not being able to use actual MLB uniforms is a deal breaker for me.

I do find it baffling that they've not managed to get the rights to wear the real uniforms. Either that or they've actively chosen to make everyone where terrible looking created uniforms. It does make everything look pretty cheap and tacky.
Good looking uniforms can be done in DD but people are either lazy or obnoxious and put not time into it. So you get blank uniforms or some joker who chooses contrasting Neon colors.
Not being able to use real uniforms has never been an issue for me.

I always end up making mine like my teams irl, but the lettering is always tough, but generally 90% of teams you play against online look awful. The colour saturation isn't right generally, it's the same in the SDS DD video trailers, all the colours look too bright and not realistically like something you could make.
I'm rarely one to praise FIFA, but I don't get why SDS hasn't gone down the same route by allowing us to buy/sell all the teams jerseys and wear them instead (if we want, still have the option to create our own). With the amount of alternate jerseys they put in the game, it seems a shame not to utilise them

Madden and NBA 2k also let you if I recall. Not sure about the NHL series

I guess I benefit by only playing offline. I don't have to see the awful uniforms except in other peoples videos.
I really enjoyed the DD uniform creation last year. Is there any word on changes for 19? It would be great to be able to have an alternate in addition to home and away. Different jersey types like V necks would be great in addition to the button downs also. Probably very little chance of this happening I’m assuming...

I mostly hate the limited amount of name/number fonts available.
