I've actually put in for the day at work.
But I'm scouring to find it early. If I find it early, then I won't take off work....maybe. :skillz:
Can't wait till Thursday night (please give me a 9PM EST pick up GS...PLEASE!).
6. Improve Ball physics
7. Batting Stance Ceator
8. New Tagging Engine
9. Presentation Improvments
10. Next Level Stadium Atmosphere
6 out of 10 ain't bad.
Remember days when they had list of 50 new things!
To each his own. The ball physics on 17 were the best they had ever been. It has been incremental advances since they introduced ball physics on MLB 12.
17 was bold and some people simply were not used to the tailing, spins and trajectories.....but man for me it felt more real than any previous version and was a clear sign they have come a long way. I am still seeing hit variety a year into playing the 17. I am talking new hits. And 17 was the first time I truly saw down the line double the kept rolling into the corner (and not in a perfect straight line), bouncing off the walls...and CPU OF’s not fielding them perfectly. It is a thing of beauty.
I can only imagine 18 will be a more refined version of 17 in terms of ball physics. I am super pumped for them.
But again....to each his own.
But I'm still going out late at night to grab my copy early, so I can play.
Def looking forward to the bright looking screens. I loved 17, but the screens were so dark and depressing that I sometimes got tired.

1. Don't care at all
2. Don't care at all
3. Don't care at all
4. Don't care at all
5. A small upgrade (care 10%)...that the new reorganization involved the addition of zero new depth/options is rough (not running out of players in the draft is the lowest bar imaginable for an "upgrade"--more of a bug fix actually). They update the menus each year so let's not act like it's revolutionary although it does look better. Franchise mode players basically knew how to do all this stuff already.
6. They said that last year...not giving them credit for it twice. Last year was the big change. This year is the "bug fix."
7. Decent feature (care 20%), but I've never been a stance-hound and it does create more work for roster people...mixed feelings.
8. Good thing (care 30%), ghosting tags were never really a dealbreaker for me though.
9. We'll see about that. Putting in De-Ro for Harold Reynolds might be a step backward. Can't determine how improved this is right now. Although the guys in the uniform thread seem to be pretty optimistic with what they've seen vis-a-vis jersey colors.
10. A decent upgrade (care 30%), but I wouldn't call the fans tracking the ball better "next level." LOL. There are still 3,000 Ramones at any given baseball game. All the fans with jerseys wear the exact same jersey (thankfully not "Player 0" anymore).
Surprised they didn't put rain delays on this list. For a Franchise mode player anyway that would be in the top 10. Ditto the small improvements to logic.
1. The color red looks accurate now! No more "never using the red tops" for the Angels.
2. Trout finally has a face scan!
3. The Angels belts are finally red.
Can't wait to pick up my MVP edition at GameStop on Friday morning! Also, I highly doubt it, but call your local one to see if there will be a midnight release.
This is really inconsistent. More times than not, the CPU still knows exactly where and how the ball will bounce off the wall. In recent games just yesterday, I hit some screaming liners off the wall. The CPU turned around completely to field the ball off the wall perfectly without even looking at it.

You're misunderstanding: What I meant was they're touting this as one of the best new things in 18...but it's essentially word for word what they said about the physics in 17...
And I liked the physics, and said last year that the physics alone were worth the upgrade to 17, but unfortunately it seemed like they toned them down after the first couple patches and then they didn't seem as pronounced as before. Ground balls down the line didn't tail like they did early on, less slicing, etc. Pulled fouls would still drift way too far though, which is something they said they've fixed this year, so that's good.
Anyway, hopefully they're better than ever. I'm optimistic they will be, but like I said the proof will be in the pudding. Fingers are crossed there won't be some weird thing like the wild pitch issue that will plague this year's game and won't be fixed in patches.
Can my girlfriend go, too?

That makes sense. I'm definitely willing to give them credit. Just cautiously optimistic that something won't be ''wrong" again this year and they have to tone it down this year again... then we see it once again as a bullet point for 19 lol...
Def9nitely digging the gameplay videos we've seen so far, so can't wait for Friday.
As a few others have pointed out, they said the exact same thing last year about ball physics and I was absurdly disappointed with the physics in 17. Was it an upgrade over 16? Yes, but still far from realistic.
Just a few major issues I had with 17:
1. Out of the box, the ball curve was good but home run distances were out of control, so they patched the home run distances and for some reason they curbed the ball slice. Grounders stopped curving down the line entirely.
2. The catchers had no speed or urgency whatsoever.
3. Way too many idiotic passed balls on pitches right down the middle.
4. Absurd routine ground balls turned into doubles because the infielder did an ole.
5. Stealing bases at realistic clips was impossible with anyone less than an 85 steal rating.
6. Poorly fabricated, generated errors as a means of getting realistic error numbers. The errors that occurred were unrealistic and usually happened on routine plays that almost never would've resulted in an error.
7. How many home runs can be hit that curve one inch foul? This literally happened every single game.
8. Hitting was a painful endeavor. Pitches I'm right on too many times ended up being lazy fly balls and balls that the pci was barely on too often times ended up being hard hit balls. No rhyme or reason whatsoever.
I can go on but you get the idea. These things all need to be fixed for me to truly get hyped.

I have been playing a lot of 17 in the last couple of week and did notice that the immersion is severely lacking.
The replays suck most of the time. They are either always the same, have bad camera angles or only show part of the action and are very VERY stuttery.
I hate those people in the crowd dancing and holding up those signs.
I'd rather see less of the crowd and more stadium views.
That being said, i believe this is what they are fixing in 18.
More player emotion, more views of those gorgeous stadiums.
I like the dynamic crowd attendance.
More animations and a batting stance creator : looks good to me.
So, I'm sure i will enjoy 18 as i have all other editions.
Will there be stuff lacking : sure.
Can they please everyone : never.
But for me spending 50 bucks on a game i play the whole year (on and off) : not a bad deal at all.
Still not sold on the new tag system. Number of outs at the plate in the show 17 were inordinately high and it appears to be increased now.
I'll reserve judgement until I see the game. Perhaps an online stream will feature manage mode so I can see the game without user input.
Assuming I can figure out how to archive a Twitch stream (and assuming I remember my Twitch account/pwd ... I have only used Twitch a handful of times), I'll post a link in a MoM thread in the not too distant future for people still on the fence and they can see how MLB 18 handles MoM game play.

I remember one of the earliest trailers for MLB the show on PS4 and how they talked about the massive variety we would see in terms of crowd models. It went from 42 models to over a thousand and yet still so many Ramones.
Maybe if we ever get face scan, SCEA can do a thing where you can agree to have your face scan in the game in exchange for some packs just so we can get some more face variety in there haha.

Being able to face scan yourself would be an incredible addition for RTTS players mainly. That addition alone would be massive. I think NBA2K lets you do this? (or so I've heard...don't play that game anymore)
I don't think they would have to give people packs! I think people would pay them to get their faces scanned in.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'll take the packs over a flawed face scan. That seems to take years to master, just ask 2K.
Not enough reward in my opinion for what we would get. Plus it would impinge immensely in adding other more pressing features to the game.

You don't want it. I wouldn't use it. But you'd be hard pressed to think that the huge amount of people who play RTTS and always want to put themselves in the game as a create-a-player wouldn't absolutely drool over the ability to add their own face scan. It would be huge.
Of course, I don't want packs either, so...lol
Yeah I think one of the boxing games years ago had this too I think back on Ps3 in 2006 fight night or whatever it was called

Yeah you're right. I know I'd let them use my face in the crowd for free.
"SDS announced the biggest new feature to the MLB THE SHOW franchise. We now have face scan"
Ramone: "This is a big feature that everybody has been asking for"
What about other new features that have been added?
Ramone: "We added more content to DD however unfortunately we didnt have time to add new features to franchise. Our guys really really want to make franchise great again but we just couldn't get it in this year!"

Show CAPs have made strides in recent years. But they're still pretty bad compared to scanned players so if there was some way for the roster guys to cheese the scanners and put in unscanned MLB faces that would be enough for me to buy into 19. Obviously I'd want more stuff in addition to that (game play, logic and graphical improvements, yada yada) but I'd be lying if I said face scans wouldn't tempt me.
Well, I've made the tough decision to hold off the new copy for now. I'm enjoying '17 right now and don't see any compelling reasons to cough up for '18. If I played DD, I'd be all over it. First time since '09 I won't have bought it on release day. But will get it eventually :)
