Mike Tyson Talks About Psychedelics And ‘Toad Venom’ On Jimmy Kimmel Live, And His Hallucinations Get Extremely Wild

Tyson said he was an alien.

Mike Tyson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he discussed his experiences with psychedelics, including substances often referred to as “toad venom.” The conversation centered on his past use of 5-MeO-DMT, a powerful psychedelic derived from the Bufo alvarius toad, and how those experiences affected his perception at the time, describing them as highly intense and unlike anything he had encountered in ordinary life.

According to Complex, Tyson said he had extremely wild psychedelic experiences and vivid hallucinations. He recalled how deeply immersed he was in his experiences that he could not fully comprehend what was happening at the time. “I do a lot of psychedelics,” he said. “Every now and then, I make a mistake, and I take a little too much. I see a lot of interesting s–t.”

Tyson has always been open to talking about psychedelics, cannabis, and other forms of drugs in recent years. So, when Kimmel asked him to illustrate his experience with examples, he did not hold back. He described moments of ego dissolution and disconnection from ordinary reality during these experiences. “In my fantasy, I’m the alien. I’m cruising around trying to find the right people to do the right thing…I can’t say I’ve seen God, but I felt him,” he said.

Tyson Is An Enthusiast

Despite his intense hallucinations, they never really made Tyson act unusually. In fact, he was even more normal when he was using cannabis to the point that his wife and kids begged him to use it again when he tried to go cold turkey. “My wife and my kids would get scared,” Tyson revealed. “‘Please smoke, daddy’. Not that I did anything, [I was just] too intense not high. People walking by me, just looking, ‘Wow’. It’s just a whole different person.”

Tyson is a cannabis enthusiast. He owns Tyson 2.0, a cannabis company he launched in 2021. Tyson teamed up with former wrestler Ric Flair in a legal battle for their companies when certain former executives allegedly mishandled the company’s money for criminal acts.

This dedication is not an accident, as the boxing legend once admitted that he needed the high of cannabis to get through the day. “If I didn’t smoke, I would have a bad day. I’m a real moody guy without it.” The heavyweight champion also used fentanyl during his boxing days despite the drug being illegal.

As open as he is about this side of him, Tyson does not want to encourage other people to do the same. “I am who I am. If I was a role model and an alcoholic and drank liquor, would I want them to do that? No, I wouldn’t want them to do that. I just think from my perspective, using cannabis, that’s safer than using alcohol, cocaine or anything from that perspective, or fentanyl,” he said.
