Michael Irvin is going viral again this week, but it has nothing to do with a Cowboys highlight.

The whole situation started after the national championship game where Miami lost 27-21 to Indiana. Earlier in the season, Irvin also got trolled online when he wildly celebrated Miami’s shock win over Ohio State by whipping a cooler with his belt, and the clip went viral across social media.

That kind of energy is not new for Irvin. He has always been known for big emotions at major games, especially when it involves his alma mater. But this clip blew up online because some people did not just call it passion. They joked that he must have been using cocaine during the game.

Irvin did not let the rumor sit. On The White House, he went right at the comments and explained why he thought the whole thing was ridiculous.

“I’m there in front of the camera for five hours. After the game, I do a little belt thing, and everybody sends me all this, ‘Man, Mike, right now, he coked up right now. You all on coke.’ I’m like, wait a minute. First of all, y’all know damn well coke don’t last for five hours. … I hadn’t partaken in 20 years. But if you got some five hour stuff, let me know. That’s what I’m saying. Like stop it. Stop saying this stuff.”

He also said he understands why people who are high sometimes assume everyone else is too, but he made it clear he is not living like that anymore.

“When I used to get high, that’s exactly what I would say, no matter who I saw, ‘Oh he high, too.’ Because you high. You want everybody to be high. Whenever you sit in your a** home, high, you want to think everybody else is high because your a** is high. I understand that, but the reality is, everybody ain’t high.”

The podcast clip started spreading too, and memes and reaction videos turned his denial into another viral moment.

Irvin does have a history with drugs. In the 1990s, he faced a cocaine possession charge and was suspended by the NFL. That background is part of why some people quickly ran with the idea that his sideline behavior looked “off.”

Still, Irvin’s side insists the energy was just passion and that there is nothing behind the drug rumors.

The Reaction Came Fast, And Irvin’s Name Stayed In The Spotlight

The reaction online was immediate. As soon as the clips hit social media, users jumped in with memes, jokes, and speculation.

The comments got messy fast. One person joked, “Also him before the game starts 😭.” Another wrote, “Addicts are well known for lies and manipulation to hide their drug habits. He’s the perfect example of this.”

Some fans were confused about why the rumor even started, but they still admitted he was doing a lot on the sideline. “Was there any reason for people to actually accuse of this on the sideline 😂😂 He’s definitely doing wayyy too much but the staff seems fine with it,” one comment said.

Others did not bother with nuance. “He is high right now😂,” another person posted, as the jokes and accusations kept piling up.

At this point, Irvin has made it clear he is not backing down from the way he shows love for Miami. When a clip goes viral, the internet fills in the blanks fast, and the story can grow bigger than the moment itself.
