Michael Chandler just shared big news for fight fans. He says his long-delayed fight against Conor McGregor is “signed, sealed and delivered” for the UFC’s planned White House card. McGregor’s opponent says the deal is locked in for June 14, and fans have been waiting a long time for “The Notorious” to return to the octagon.
McGregor hasn’t stepped inside the cage in over four years. He last fought in his trilogy match with Dustin Poirier, where he broke his left leg. That injury was serious, and many wonder how he’ll perform after such a long recovery. According to The Sun, the fight against Chandler was first scheduled for last June, but McGregor pulled out after breaking his left pinky toe.
Chandler is a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion. He sounds very confident that the fight is happening soon. He said on Instagram that he doesn’t need to call out McGregor anymore because “the fight’s already happening.” Chandler mentioned that McGregor has brought in training partners to copy his fighting style. He believes the contract has been solid since June 2024. “He’s gonna make good on his promise, on his words, on the ink on the contract in June of 2026,” Chandler declared.
McGregor’s doping ban will end just before the scheduled fight date
McGregor is currently serving a doping suspension. Ireland’s first and only UFC champion got an 18-month ban in September 2024 for breaking the promotion’s anti-doping policy. He missed three scheduled drug tests on June 13, September 19, and September 20, 2024.
Combat Sports Anti-Doping first considered a two-year ban. However, they reduced it to 18 months because McGregor cooperated with the investigation and because of his injury situation. His suspension started on September 20, 2024, and ends on March 20, 2026. If the fight happens on June 14 as McGregor claimed, he will be fully cleared to compete.
McGregor is 37 years old and has been training hard. He’s been talking regularly with UFC President Dana White and is ready for the spotlight. He recently told Fox News about the planned location, saying “McGregor will compete in the White House for America’s 250th birthday.” However, some people remain doubtful about whether this White House fight will actually happen.
He also talked about his business success and promotional power. “I’m the highest-generating fighter of all time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship,” he said. He also mentioned the UFC’s new $7.7 billion deal with Paramount, adding “I’m ready to rock, baby.” Beyond his fighting career, McGregor has been open about his intense personal spiritual experiences that have shaped his mindset.
If McGregor fights on the White House card, it will be his first fight since he was found civilly liable for assaulting Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. McGregor lost his appeal of that verdict last November. Despite the suspension and legal problems, the return of “The Notorious” appears set for a truly historic event.
