Barnes opened his Instagram video by telling fans he never got scammed by anyone and definitely not by an AI model on a dating app. He explained that the rumor grew because blogs, fan pages, and podcasts repeated the story without checking a single detail. As he put it, the talk ranged from “me being gay” to returning from a trip to Dubai and seeing “I’m suing AI model, or I got played by AI model.”

He made it clear that while he recently “hit rock bottom” and dealt with “a lot of negatives, a lot of positives from 2025,” paying a woman who never existed $61,000 was never part of that. Barnes pointed out how some sites kept running with the lie anyway, saying, “And all these little bottom of the barrel-a** blogs pick it up. Shout out to the ones that are real and know the bulls**t or at least check.” He added, “Some of you bottom of the barrel a** motherf**ker keep running the same garbage, but you guys believe that I got played by AI model and I’m suing ‘em?”

He also wanted to know how the rumor even started. “Where the f**k did you guys get this from? For real. Seriously,” he said. Barnes then explained that people online kept adding new details, turning the story into something bigger and stranger than anything he had ever heard. He said the wild claims showed how fast strangers can build a completely false story out of nothing, especially when drama is involved.

This Moment Exposed A Bigger Problem With Celebrity Rumors And Online Storytelling

Barnes’ reaction showed how quickly a small rumor can explode online. What started as a single post became screenshots, edits, and endless comment threads repeating the same claim without verifying anything. It became another example of how drama consistently moves faster than facts.

He also talked about how the rumor blew up once someone close to him mentioned it publicly. Barnes and Arenas played together in Golden State and Memphis, so hearing the story repeated by someone from his inner circle made it hit differently. “And I had a conversation with Gilbert,” Barnes said. “He addressed the bulls**t and from there it caught fire.” Barnes told him, “Bro, after all we been through, bro, like, tap in with me and see if it’s real.” He said Arenas apologized and admitted he did not know the story had gone that far, but once he said it out loud, the lie spread even faster.

Barnes finished by reminding fans not to fall for every viral post. “Y’all can’t believe everything you motherf**king hear.” He shared that he has been working through real issues while the internet kept spreading a fake one, closing with, “Like I said, I been dealing with some real s**t while y’all been lying, but anyway, you know what they say. When the hate don’t work, they gotta start lying. But y’all motherf**king don’t have to believe ‘em. Trust me, you don’t.”

Barnes’ video did more than shut down a rumor. It showed how fast a false story can grow when people choose drama over truth. His response pulled everything back to reality and reminded fans that not every viral claim deserves attention. In a moment filled with noise, he made clarity the loudest part of the story.
