Madden NFL 21 Patch 1.11 Available, Fixes The Receiver Drops Issue From Patch 1.10

EA has quickly released Madden NFL 21 game update 1.11 today for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The patch fixes the issue many users were having with dropped passes, since the release of Madden NFL 21 patch 1.10 on Tuesday.

Here’s the official patch notes, let us know what you’re seeing.

  • Gameplay: Fixed a gameplay physics issue sometimes preventing receivers from properly catching the ball, which was exposed by work in Tuesday’s title update.

For those of you looking for franchise mode updates, the first of three scheduled updates are set to arrive in mid-November. You will not be required to restart your franchise, when these updates arrive.

EA provided some other post-launch Madden NFL 21 franchise mode updates last month, as well as details on the very early stages for Madden NFL 22 franchise mode.

  1. It was a patch bug. Just please do not screw something else up.....please lord.
This game is really a blast offline vs the CPU this year. Best ever actually. Really can’t stress that enough. Most fun I have had since Madden 16 and Madden 25.

    New guy here.
Any idea when the wk 2 roster update is completed this week?
Meaning after wk 2 real life in the NFL update

    Normally comes out on Thursdays.
And, based on the outcry, I knew this would be a quick fix.

But to your best knowledge, it hasn't been updated yet??

He certainly deserves one! Dude is playing like a stud.
It's usually later in the afternoon, around 5PM EST or so. It's later in the day but before TNF. Keep an eye on https://twitter.com/Equipment_Guru. He always posts when it's live.
    Edit - Wk 1 was 5:30 EST. Wk 2 was 5:15 EST.
Played one game last night. Lost the game but early in it, I had Perriman WIDE open on a crossing route on a big third down. He dropped it and I missed the field goal. The drop didn’t seem like a normal drop.
Good to see the quick action on this. Drops are definitely still in the game, because I can lower catching to zero and see them all over the place in offense only practice. I had actually settled on 40 right before all of this happened - gave the feeling that anyone could drop one, but they didn't completely take over the game.
And, so far at least, every single wide open drop I've had post - 1.11 was accompanied by a controller rumble and a longer-looking drop animation than the ones that were happening as a result of 1.10. Like, they'll look down at their hands or throw up their hands or things like that. They feel natural again.
I realize that this fix was just for drops but not sure where to post this anymore.
The more patches that come out the worse it feels CPU is playing. I play all-pro but might have to jump to All-Madden but don’t want 85% completion every game.
Basically the CPU run game seems to have been totally killed. I play a 32 team league where I play all the games every other week. Currently in Week 3. So I’ve played a number of games to see changes and I don’t think it’s just me getting better.
Couple things I’ve noticed recently. CPU can’t establish any run game. (Were running great when I first got the game). CPU QBs taking sacks. Went from being able to get almost none to 4-7 a game. I’m seeing the stand in pocket thing now that I wasn’t seeing before. CPU not targeting receivers enough. HB’s and TE’s. Especially middle and lower tier ones. The CPU defensive pressure is way down. They are lucky to get 2 sacks in a game and that’s only since I’ve put the iNt slider back to 50 and can’t force throws.
I don’t know what happened. Game was playing great when I first got it and has done a total 180. Pretty frustrating.

So...this patch nerfed running game again. Before this patch I was seeing Cpu running backs using abilities..
Not now back to the old “Body Swivel”, no cut, no footplanting, no trucking ect....Cpu tackling, looks worse also since patch.
Will test more games but on Pro this game was best ever since patch before this one...now???

I felt the same. Deleted the game off my HD. Then I redownloaded/reinstalled the game - it cleaned up a lot having all the updates consolidated into one download file.

If I delete game...I’ll lose my franchise right..?
I just blew out Kansas City... not sure where to go from here.
Guess I'll start with Matt's AM sliders. AP even with heavily favoring the CPU with sliders just isn't a challenge right now.

I actually had to do that on version 1.10 because the install must have messed up and I couldn’t start the game.

Last 2 patches have ruined offline gameplay against cpu, I was AP default on update 1.09 and game was playing awesome. Now way to easy in all aspects of gameplay. Shame on you Tiburon!! Will try AM default and see if maybe new all pro. Online folk for madden with all their bitching, was hoping maybe 2020 would be a first where I could keep playing madden and it would be fun, all that has been taken away.

Only if you delete the franchise file...

Don’t know how to do that ( not delete franchise) I thought deleting game deleted all....if it’s not too much of a pain can you explain how I can delete game and not franchise...if not no worries , probably won’t fix running game anyway.
I really want to reinstall without 1.11 ...1.10 was pure beauty..
    Thanks
    You on ps4?

If you're on PS4, deleting the game does not delete any of the assiciated saves so there's nothing else to do.

So do u feel like this helped, cpu playing good??

I think the game plays smoother and results in less questionable animations - need a tiny sample size (3 seasons) before providing a preliminary judgment on CPU competence.

Ok thanks for the reply, deleting & re-installing now

Having some of my most fun on Matt AM set, enjoying it a lot.

My question may not apply as I am a dinosaur.. ..I play Cpu Cpu much like Cdcool ect...My question is In classic Madden form patch 1.11 nerfed the CPU running game in terms of jukes..cuts ..no more footplanting ect...
    Did you reinstall...???
Do you see this....Cpu running as I do...????
Good job EA. It seems that the support for Madden 21 will be just as good as it was for Madden 20 and it keeps the complainers quiet for a minute or so.
    No question on All-O
Pro the running game by the CPU has been killed somehow and it really sucks. This game was great and challenging on all-pro and it’s been killed imo by 3 things. CPU total lack of running game, sudden inability to pass block and inability to stop run game.
CPU was a challenge for me to stop the run game. I had to make a concerted effort against a good team to stop the run and then after patch 1.10 it ended.
Last 6 games. All pro 50 cpu run block.
First 2 are 6 minute quarters so less carries. Next are 9 minute 25sec runoff.
These are numbers for CPU running back.
Steelers (me) v Giants : Barkley 8 carries 21 yards
Titans (me) v Broncos: Gordon 6 carries 12 yards
    Lindsey 4 carries 18 yards
    Dolphins(me) v Jags
    C Thompson 5-32, long 21
    Fournette 12-27
    49ers (me) v Giants
    Barkley 8-8, Lewis 2-5
    Steelers (me) v Texans
    D Johnson 12-22, Higdon 1-1
    Bengals (me) v Eagles
    Sanders 16-45 Long of 14
Something changed and the game now is no fun for me. This stinks.

Played my Chiefs/Ravens match-up last night on sim. Only had one dropped pass that puzzled me, which is fewer than I see n a normal game. Both QBs were very effective.
I won by slowing the Ravens down just enough to force a couple FGs on drives into the red zone.
So far, I'm not seeing issues with the patch. Thought it was a great game a of football.

I’m also noticing the CPU run game has gotten worse, they are not running nowhere near as good as they were during the first week this game was out.

Patch 1.11 took away CPU running back special moves es ...cuts ..jukes ect...now there is no footplanting ..it’s all bland straight ahead running.
    I’m back to 20...
I have no idea how this happens where the game totally shifts after a patch. In no programmer so it vexes me how gameplay can shift.
I am seeing very little scrambling anymore or smart movement by CPU. Decided I was getting slider crazy. All-Pro felt too easy and All-Madden way too hard. Decided to just reset the sliders on all-pro.
Had 2 close games I won but only because of turnovers by me. CPU QB’s were Cousins and Haskins. Neither ran at all. Sacks were 8 & 6.
Plus I’ve been drinking so I’m not really dialed in.
Just don’t get how the gameplay can change so much and sone don’t see it.
Want it back to how it was. Considering going back to OOB, turning off internet and seeing if their is a difference.

Does the most current patch not transfer over to existing franchises? Asking b/c I'm seeing people say the CPU isn't juking and the run game seems nerfed...but I just played CMC and Melvin Gordon in my Bucs 'chise and both busted out some decent runs utilizing spin/juke moves.

As a former programmer/systems analyst, I can tell you the first thing I would look for is that they are recompiling the game using back dated modules (poor source control). I am assuming they have a master file that calls in many other sub files. These all have to be recompiled (updated) when a patch is released. The logical explanation is that some modules that get included are not the most recent.
That sounds too trivial for a shop the size of EA. There must be another explanation, but I can't figure it out. They release patches pretty quickly sometimes, so it's not like they are updating thousands of lines of code in a day or two.
    Puzzling for sure...

Good to hear...but are you talking about the CPU runners or runners you control.
Like Cdcool I don’t “User” control players so the Cpu vs Cpu games is the example I’m using as to generic running - no footplanting - no jukes - can’t make anyone miss..ect
Patch 1.10 fixed this but 1.11 reverted it back ..for me anyway..
Has anyone else seen less-aggressive play on the ball from receivers, especially on deep routes? The league I play in has reported league-wide receivers (even when the aggressive catch is chosen) will not attempt to fight for balls in the air against DBs since the last patch.

I'm talking CPU RBs...CMC had a 75-yard TD run against me and he spun and juked within the first 15-yards and then took off to the end-zone
Okay. I reset this weekend and only have the new patch installed on the game, after the 1.00 initial load, of course. I am still playing Pro, Simulation, Abilities off. It's offline franchise.
I am seeing a better game, finally. My WR do aggressively go up for the ball. I'm doing a Jets rebuild, and I have seen Braxton Berrios fight for contested balls a handful of times in as many games. Good stuff. I don't have great RBs, so I don't think I'm supposed to see great cuts or jukes. I'm seeing what I feel like I'm supposed to. I did see a nice run from four yards out with Perine where he bounced off defenders and snaked some and just barely reached out the ball going over the goal line.
Now, what I have done that is way off from most of you is that I put my offensive sliders way up and my defensive sliders way down. I did this for human and cpu.
Just a suggestion for anyone who loved initial gameplay and has disc version. Delete game and stick with OOB. It’s kind of a pain in the butt because every time the download update pops op you have to go and cancel it. I went back to original and it was great as I remembered. Played 2 games on All-Pro and CPU could actually move the ball. CPU QB didn’t do big drop back once. Until I read that gameplay is better I’m sticking with OOB. Yeah no formation subs but gameplay so much better. Updates were driving me crazy

To add to this, if you don't do this already, I never deal with tuning updates/dls anymore because as I only play this game, I don't ever power down the machine fully. PS4, so I do the rest mode power down only. It's been the greatest thing. I skip loading screens entirely.

It seems like they reverted to old code in patches numerous time over the past several years. They reintroduce legacy bugs and gameplay issues. It’s like they have a old version they trust and keep going back to using.
