  1. Trevor Siemon missed passes, including one at the feet of the receiver.
I saw a better pass rush, but there were times that the QB had a ton of time in the pocket, too.
Make your own impressions of this shiny new video. lol
Sim does point out some nuances, but he isn't able to give impressions until EA Access.

Can a mod shut this one down, please. Van has the same one up with a couple of replies. Thanks
    EDIT (Merged)
I just like that the Bronco's QB is not very good ratings wise and is air mailing quite a few throws. It gives me hope that ratings really do matter more this year.
It's good to see the QB miss throws, but it's just glaring how lacking the QB ai is. What the hell happened between last Madden 16 and last year.
You can see the behavior is so simple. It's drop back and either wait for an open man or get sacked.
The play at 2:28 is a perfect example of this. A mediocre and relatively inexperienced QB like Siemien would probably try to bail on that play, or any half-competent NFL QB would dry to step up or readjust and reset based on the look.
Wonder if it's the same as before where snow games are played on slow speed?
Maybe that's why the animations look much better?
Marshawn looks way more powerful here.

The last play of the game, the defensive ends get sucked & stuck on the offensive tackles, just like in 17, smh.

i think you mean , he was getting blocked by much improved blocking....
Good: inaccurate passes, better cpu running game
Bad: cpu QB ai, cpu looks too easy in general, suction blocking, QB allowed to stand like a statue in the pocket to often, what's with the cpu continually trying to kick 60 yard field goals in bad weather? They missed short and still tried the next time. This was a bug a couple years ago. Anyways, much more bad than good.

I'm watching every video, just waiting for that "Off The Ball Injury" ticker to show up.
    :y11:
In one of the videos with Eagles and Skins it came up and it was an Oline that got hurt.

Agree on the bad and adding two more to the good.
Better OL blocking all around, better user running game. Probably because of the better OL blocking.
They need to replace some of these tired tackle animations. At 1:41, the tackle looks ridiculous on a player like Marshawn Lynch to be stood up in that slow tackle animation in the open field. Wheres the momentum in the play like that, the animation blends so unrealistically with the momentum both players are coming at each other with.
Looks like once again playing man is going to be pointless. Constantly watching people run open against the no fly zone means playing man is not worth it and hearing zone is being weakened means no playing defense.
Nice to see QBs miss their target and blocking looks improved but unless is a video where playing man defense will force qbs to thread the needle instead of the automatic press man results in steak for TD in probably going to skip this year's madden

Broncos have one of the best defenses in the league, now I understand Marshawn doing work but in real life Broncos man up most of the time to much success and have the best secondary in the league. I see Chris Harris getting torched easily and only got the pic because of user error, also no pressure from either edges at all which is needed for man defense, seems computer pass rush is non existent yet again. They really change nothing under the hood of this game, smh.

We need to make it loud and clear that we want better edge pressure. This is still unacceptable in terms of edge pressure, even if the product looks better.
Hopefully this is something they can fix in a tuning update for simulation mode.
But the real problem is AI. If its man vs cpu, the cpu should not be leaving Cooper 1 v1 without help. I don't care if it's Harris or not. Even the best corners get toasted by good wrs without help. Even Sherman in 2013 had help from the FS. There are no Deion Sanders' anymore. The cpu AI needs to understand this.
And cover 0 cannot work without pressure, which appears to still be too weak.

    @07:45
Nah, all the left defensive end had to do was turn back inside towards the Qb for an easy sack, instead he was glued to the offensive tackle.

I saw Clint mentioning on twitter that they created the formula for disengaging/time in the pocket based on PFF data saying that the best pass rushers ever only get pressure on about 15% of snaps.
But the issue with that is that average Madden gamer takes much longer to release the ball than the worst NFL QB ever (maybe not Tebow) would. If a real NFL QB would hold the ball like Madden players do, there would be pressure on every single down.
They need to tune pressure by looking at their own metrics and not PFF/NFL data. Hopefully the pass blocking slider is working properly so that we can "fix" this ourselves.

Yes. Going by statistics alone is foolish. The entire point of rhythm passing is to get the ball out before the pressure arrives, which is precisely why great pass rushers only get near the qb 3 in 20 rushes.
In other words, most pass rushers need only 4 or 5 seconds to get to the qb on almost any play, but the average qb gets the ball out in 3 seconds or less.
Best of the gameplay vids I've seen thus far.
    Good
-Really loved the Ai QB missing some throws. Looks like intermediate passes to the sidelines (corner routes) will be not as successful with subpar QBs. Long time coming.
-First time sim setting actually looked sim to me. Like I didn't have to look at the scorebug to see if it was.
    Bad
-AI QB play still looked bad. Stand absolutely still until get sacked or someone is open. (note: not new either, this is why a lot of people complain about unrealistic completion percentages)
-Looks like press coverage is still a problem. Like they added more animations, but kept the extreme win/loss approach. Even the play where he showed the replay and said pass coverage is improved (in route where defender broke it up), look at the separation before the WR made his cut, had that been a fly route he was gone.

This is my biggest complaint and has been for years. This is against a elite top 10 corner too. He had 5 yards on him off the get off the bump and run. This happened twice in the game. Its a animation problem for CB's in man coverage on bump and runs as well as out routes. It takes way too long to react to a WR's cut. The problem with that is its not fixable with sliders because it's tied to a animation. I thought this was all redone. I'm still seeing 4-5 yards separation on drag routes too. I just hope they tweak this and the shading works properly to take these things away. 1 last thing that concerned me was when the madden ratings were released the man and zone coverage ratings are really low for all CB's. I'd have liked to see the scale a bit higher to get better coverage overall. I'd love to play a game of madden online where I could use man coverage 50% of the time if I so chose. I run with the Seahawks and would love to play some bump & run but if I do it's a auto super win 90% of the time...

Man to me looks like the Broncos QB air balled a lot of throws, which is good since he isn't good.

Agree very much , but im still hoping he played even worse , seeing his passing accuracy are in the 70 , and the QB's in the 80 played a little to good didn't see too many miss passes from them in other video's . And also there was some pass rush but seeing that both teams have 2 of the top 5 rushers and there were plenty of plays they just had way too much time .Remember Denver won the super bowl on pass pressure alone . I think in sim mode pressure and the zone need to be dial up .

CPU AI is what sticks out the most to me, I mean @ 2:50, his lineman is pushed into him, he moves 3 inches via the momentum and still never shows any urgency or awareness to move around the pocket even. Hopefully that can be addressed.

There's probably some 'boost' in the WR code somewhere that they're not 'aware of'. That was the problem with D-lineman catching much faster ball carriers. Got lost in the shuffle couple years ago. With all the jumbled code they work with, who knows, same 'boost' issue could be hurting several aspects of the game.

What are the position ratings of the ones you're talking about?

Here is my post from another thread...

I was just reading the blog on WR/DB Interaction and about pressing WR. https://www.easports.com/madden-nfl/news/2017/db-wr-interaction
The animation variety will be decided by the Strength rating match-up between the two players, while the win/loss result is the match-up between Press vs. Beat Press (Release).
Looking at the ratings they look pretty good between WR & DB's.
As far as the Amari Cooper TD's vs Chris Harris Jr. video go's here is the breakdown...
Chris Harris Jr. vs. Amari Cooper
    82 Press. vs 86 Release
    57 Strength. vs 69 Strength
97 Man Coverage vs 87 Route Running
    91 Speed vs 92 Speed
    90 Acceleration vs 89 Acceleration
You can see pressing Amari was probably not a good idea here... Resulted in 2 Td's...
Clint also just said on Twitter that you can assign the CPU CB to press and shading tells him how to press and that it works properly...

Not to say the separation isn't correct, but I know exactly what's driving what's going on in this video.
    1) These capture vids are with balanced rosters where player separation via ratings doesn't really exist (per Clint)
    2) High AWR gives a boost (per say) to pass catchers in that it causes a quick route adjustment to the ball and the push/pull it creates to the catch point, causes separation by the Pass catcher to be greater than the RTE rating should be.
    - fixable by dropping Pass catchers AWR to be below 75 to minimize the auto route adjusting, but the OVR takes a hit.

Interesting that with balanced rosters separation does not exist although we saw it exist all over the place in early videos.
Does The CB get a awareness boost for recovery like the WR gets?
Just for the case of awareness convo here is that breakdown...
    Harris Jr. - 93 Awareness
    Cooper - 88 Awareness
Very concerned seeing the same "ole!" behavior from CBs in press coverage that we had in '17. Especially with no help over the top.
Seeing Chris Harris, who I believe is the highest rated CB in the game, get torched with ease not once but twice... :brickwall:
This was my #1 gameplay item that HAD to be fixed in 18. The game, on any difficulty, is way too easy when you can connect on a ton of deep balls for scores.
