Lindsey Vonn is returning after taking 5-years off from the sport to race in the Olympics. Her determination knows no bounds as she is ready to compete despite her torn ACL injury on Friday. Vonn’s personal motto was echoed by WNBA star Cameron Brink. According to Sports Illustrated, the Los Angeles Sparks star suffered from an ACL tear in 2024. She was able to return to the courts after nearly one year.
In a recent post on Instagram, Lindsey Vonn thanked her supporters and announced her willingness to compete even though she is injured. In the comments, Cameron Brink supported her, saying, “You are amazing, truly one of my best mentors through injury. Always cheering for you.” Vonn’s injury threatened to derail her comeback, but she has determined with her team that she is fit to compete. As mentioned in her post, she will be ready for skiing on Sunday.
After extensive consultations with doctors, intense therapy, physical tests, and skiing today, I’ve determined that I am capable of competing in the Olympic Downhill on Sunday. Of course, I still need to complete one required training run, but I am confident in my body’s ability to perform—despite my injuries, my knee is stable, I have no swelling, and my muscles are firing and reacting as they should. I will continue to evaluate things daily with my medical team to ensure we’re making smart decisions, but I fully intend to compete on Sunday.
She Has A Block Of Titatium In Her Knee But Her Desire Compete Knows No Bounds
On Friday, January 30, Lindsey Vonn had a downhill crash in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. She was airlifted to the hospital, where it was confirmed that she suffered an ACL tear with a bone bruise and some meniscal tears in her left knee. She had to sit out the World Cup super-G race on Saturday owing to her injuries. Although the 41-year-old Vonn’s injury on Friday is far more tame compared to her suffering over the past few years.
She retired from the sport years ago with a broken body. However, she came back with the help of extensive medical procedures. In April 2024, Lindsey Vonn underwent a partial knee replacement surgery that added Titanium parts to her knee. She was unable to walk without limping prior to her surgery.
The surgery gave her enough confidence to continue her life normally. However, Vonn was not satisfied with a comfortable retirement. Once she started feeling good enough, she was unable to resist the idea of making a comeback.
