LeBron James has made his prediction for Super Bowl LX. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar believes the Seattle Seahawks will beat the New England Patriots. The big game between the NFC and AFC champions starts in less than 24 hours.
Both starting quarterbacks are dealing with injuries heading into the championship game. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is fighting a shoulder injury he got during the AFC title game against the Denver Broncos. The injury will likely limit his deep throws and arm strength.
Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has been dealing with an oblique injury for nearly a month. The injury has kept him from completing full practices. However, according to Newsweek, Darnold is “good to go” and the limited practice time is more about rest than a real health problem.
Seattle’s defense could be the difference maker in Sunday’s championship
Maye just finished second to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford in this week’s NFL MVP race. His shoulder problem is a big concern for New England going into the biggest game of the year. While modern quarterbacks face intense physical demands, the game has certainly evolved from earlier eras when legendary quarterbacks played through different challenges.
Darnold’s injury needs to be managed carefully, especially when he makes long throws while scrambling. But the Seahawks staff has handled the situation well. He is expected to be completely healthy and ready for the game. Before making his pick, James shared his thoughts on the season.
“It’s been a heck of a NFL season, and we all love the Super Bowl,” the future Hall of Famer said. “And then we’re all so sad about it, because we know the off season is coming.” The sports world has seen its share of unusual moments lately, including a tennis player’s bizarre mid-match behavior that raised eyebrows.
James recognized the strong competition and coaching on both teams. But he didn’t hesitate with his final choice. “My prediction, I got Seattle coming out victorious,” he announced. James gave a shout-out to Patriots coach Mike Vrabel, calling him “Ohio’s own.”
But his reason for picking Seattle is clear. “Right now, I just seen what they’ve been able to do all year. All unbelievable defense. They fly around,” James explained. He also praised the offense, saying “They got some heavy hitters on offense as well. Sam Darnold, he’s bounced back from last year’s playoff performance.” James believes Seattle’s aggressive defense and healthy offense will be enough to win, even though he admitted the Patriots are “super well coached too.”
