Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua are officially fighting in Miami, Florida, on December 19. This is the biggest test of Paul’s boxing career so far. He’s facing a two-time heavyweight world champion, which is a huge step up in competition. The fight will have three eight-minute rounds, and both fighters will wear standard 10oz gloves. Joshua is reportedly getting paid around £140 million for this fight, which explains why he agreed to it.
According to Sportbible, Netflix will broadcast the event after making a deal with Paul and Most Valuable Promotions. They just released the official poster with the tagline “Judgment Day” and called it “Jake vs Joshua.” But fans quickly noticed something strange about the design.
The poster shows Joshua much bigger than Paul. That makes sense since Joshua is taller, but fans are suspicious because Paul’s previous poster with Gervonta Davis showed them at the same height. Joshua is 198cm tall while Davis is only 165cm. That’s a massive difference, so making Davis look the same size as Paul was clearly done to make that fight look more even.
Fans are calling out the obvious size manipulation
Fans spotted the change right away. One person wrote online: “Joshua a lot bigger than him in the poster … but Tank the same size. IYKYK.” Another simply said, “Marketing 101.” People think this was done to either make Paul look better against Davis or to show Joshua’s size advantage now. One fan summed it up perfectly: “All theatre my guy.”
Another commenter said the Davis poster was clearly edited: “They made Jake and Tank the same size for the poster to make Tank bigger than he is. For the Jake vs Joshua poster, they had to keep it real.” It looks like the marketing changes based on the opponent, which has annoyed fans who see the obvious difference. When Paul’s fight with Joshua was announced, the reaction was mixed across social media.
Some fans defended the poster, though. One wrote: “Everything that looks suspicious to y’all is done by Jake Paul. Come on, maybe it’s just because he’s taller.” Another pointed out that Paul probably isn’t making the posters himself.
Joshua is coming off a loss in his last fight. He lost to Daniel Dubois in September 2024 in an IBF heavyweight title bout. Paul’s last fight was in June when he beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Things got weird after that fight, though.
Four days later, US immigration arrested Chavez Jr. for alleged cartel ties and illegally trafficking weapons into Mexico. Chavez denies everything, but he was sent to Mexico and released on bail in August.
The poster drama aside, this is a huge event. KSI’s reaction to the fight announcement showed his true feelings about the matchup. Expect more promotional material before December 19.
