The Florida Panthers lost 5-3 to the Buffalo Sabres on Monday. Their fourth straight defeat has sent their fans and players into a state of dismay. The Eastern Conference schedule is already difficult, and the Panthers’ loss is pushing them further down the ladder. According to Sportskeeda, instead of hiding their issues or defending the team in front of the media, the Florida Panthers’ captain, Matthew Tkachuk, made a brutal admission about the Panthers.
I think we can’t try to outskill teams. That’s not what we’re trying to do, but at some points in the game we are doing that, or just playing into their hands. I don’t know. I think we just got to get back to the basics. We’ve got to try to win a 1-0, 2-1 game here and just try to go from there. But we’re in one right now, and if we don’t simplify it, this year is going to get away from us.
Tkachuk’s words were right to the point. The players are also under constant pressure owing to the close calls and consecutive defeats. The Florida Panthers are currenlty 28-24-3 in the Atlantic Division. With their latest loss, the Panthers are now trying to bet on the wild-card spot, hoping to claim some wins before they get eliminated. The team’s Playoffs hopes are running on thin ice, and their situation couldn’t get any worse.
Florida Panthers Face Unending Suffering With New Injuries Coming Up Every Night
Consecutive defeats are not the only thing that scares the Panthers’ captain, Matthew Tkachuk. He is also bewildered by the injuries that plague their entire roster currently. In his own words, “I mean, obviously, it seems like somebody’s getting injured every night.” Sam Bennett, the Panthers’ forward, is the latest name to join the list of injured players. He ended up leaving the game early after suffering an upper-body injury in the first period.
The Panthers are already missing Brad Marchand, Aleksander Barkov, and Anton Lundell. Their lineup is not enough to back up their desperate chase for the wild-card. However, Tkachuk is still confident about the efforts that his teammates are putting in. “And even some of the guys in right now, I’m seeing them work their absolute a*s off, grind, play through stuff just so they can stay in and play.”
55 matches in, and the Panthers currently sit at the last spot in the Atlantic Division. Their next matchup is against the Boston Bruins, who faced their first loss after seven-straight wins.
