It’s been a week since Bad Bunny was announced to headline the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show. The pick has certainly stirred up controversy among fans and sparked backlash. Jennifer Lopez has now come to the defense of the ‘Monaco’ singer after harsh reactions to the news.
There have been people who have come out to criticize the NFL for picking the Latin singer as the headline act for the Halftime show. Some of them have insisted that they can’t understand his songs, since they’re not primarily in English. Donald Trump even voiced his opinion on the situation, stating that he doesn’t understand the choice either.
Lopez appeared on the Today Show and spoke about the NFL’s decision to choose Bad Bunny to headline the Super Bowl Halftime show. She heaped praise on the Puerto Rican star’s talents and said that his music transcends the language barrier.
Why? I don’t understand that. He’s one of the top artists in the world, probably the top. I’m super excited for people to see him who think that, because they’ll be pleasantly surprised. His music transcends language. It’s amazing what he’s done. He’s done something that people never done in their life. I’m excited for him […] He puts on a great show. He’s an amazing entertainer.”
Trump And His Allies Are Not Fans Of Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny is one of the most-streamed artists in the world currently, and yet, Donald Trump has seemingly never heard of him. The ‘DTMF’ singer is set to entertain hundreds of thousands of fans as they watch him perform on one of the biggest stages possible.
However, Trump and his allies are seemingly not fans of the NFL’s decision to pick him as the headliner. He didn’t hold anything back over his dislike and called the decision absolutely ridiculous. The US President’s administration has even hinted that the NFL could come to regret its decision as well. Some of his allies have openly stated that they will boycott the Super Bowl this year.
While it seems that this kind of thing happens almost every year around the Halftime show, it has sparked a lot of backlash from Trump supporters towards Bad Bunny. They’ve pulled out past comments from the Latin rapper criticizing ICE and Trump as well, which further fueled all of the negativity.
Bad Bunny Is Laughing It Off
Bad Bunny isn’t seemingly too concerned with all of the hate coming his way. The ‘Booker T’ rapper has sarcastically reacted to all of the conversation surrounding the language barrier. He recently appeared on an episode of SNL as a guest host and decided to laugh it off.
The Latin singer even suggested that people have had four months until now to learn Spanish before he performs at the Super Bowl. Even though that comment didn’t sit right with many of his haters, it seems that he was having a fun time. Bad Bunny looks ready to perform with pride and show off his culture in the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime show.
