Jaylen Wright Believes He Can Be a Top RB in 2025

Jaylen Wright is confident he can be one of the best running backs in the NFL, per his comments on Up & Adams.

In 15 games in 2024, Wright amassed 257 scrimmage yards and 1.8 yards per carry in the final nine games of the regular season.

Some of this can be attributed to the Miami Dolphins’ abysmal offensive line. Miami was 26th in run block win rate and 28th in pass block win rate. Wright was barely involved in the Dolphins’ pass game in 2024, with only eight yards on six targets. He’s expecting to be much more involved in the receiving game in 2025 after seeing De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert combine for 110 targets last season.

Wright hasn’t been getting tips from teammate Tyreek Hill on how to catch the ball, but he’s excited to play another year with the star wideout and he’s bound to learn from training with one of the NFL’s best.

The second year back is very optimistic about a breakout in 2025.

Speaking to Kay Adams, Wright said, “I know I can be a top back in this league. I feel like just my skill set, my ability and the system I’m in, it sets me up to be great.

“It’s God’s plan, staying the course. It’s a long season, staying the course, doing what I got to do every time I touch that rock, every time the ball comes to me just make a play with the ball. I’m very excited. I’m very blessed to be in this position. It’s going to be a very great year this year.”

Fantasy Outlook

Fifty-four running backs are being drafted ahead of Wright, according to Fantasy Pros. As a rookie, Wright averaged 5.3 yards per carry for his first six games before fading and offering very little production.

Part of that is due to the physical challenges of a 17-game NFL season, and some of it is down to how poor the Dolphins’ offensive line was. Miami’s offensive line once again projects to be in the bottom 10. Wright, however, claims to be in much better shape and should get more opportunities with Alexander Mattison and Ollie Gordon unlikely to get many carries.

Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith has proven he can orchestrate a dynamic offense, having led the Dolphins to 11th in points per game in 2022 and second by the same metric in 2023. Mostert and Achane combined for 32 touchdowns and 2,184 scrimmage yards in 2023.

The running back duo were third and fourth, respectively, in fantasy points per game that season. Achane is going to be the lead back, but Wright could be a top 20 fantasy running back based on Miami’s past offensive production under Smith.

He’s a worthwhile sleeper and becomes a potential league-winning pick in bigger leagues.
