Jaxson Dart Said He Plays Like Mahomes And Allen To Justify His Hits. Giants Fans Asked If That’s Really The Comparison He Should Make Right Now

Jaxson Dart returned to the field on December 1 after missing time with a concussion, and he did not avoid the main question surrounding him. The New York Giants quarterback said he has no plans to change how he plays, even though some critics believe he takes too many unnecessary risks, especially after going through several concussion evaluations this season.

Instead of stepping back, he defended his style. He said this is simply the way he has always played. Then he added the comment that quickly became the center of the conversation: he compared his playing style to Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.

During a post-game press conference, when Dart was asked why he continues to take so many hits with his style of play, he kept his answer direct. He said, “This is football. I’m going to get hit if I’m in the pocket or outside the pocket. I feel like I played this way my whole entire life. This shouldn’t be like any shocker to anybody if you’ve followed along with my career.”

He followed that by adding, “We’re not playing soccer out here. You’re going to get hit. Things happen. It’s just part of the game.” His words came shortly after the Giants fell to 2-11, extending their losing streak to seven games. As he continued speaking in the locker room, Dart was asked whether there is a “fine line” between taking care of himself and fighting for extra yards.

He replied, “There’s a time and place for things. I watch quarterbacks who play kind of like me around the league. I watched how Josh Allen plays. I watch how Patrick Mahomes plays. They take hits, too, so I’m not an anomaly here.”

Dart suffered a concussion on November 9 in the loss to the Chicago Bears and missed two weeks before returning against the New England Patriots on December 2. When he took more hits in his first game back, the conversation quickly shifted to whether his physical style can hold up. For many fans and analysts, his comments sparked a wider debate about durability, decision-making, and how his approach might impact his long-term development.

How Giants Fans Turned One Quote Into A Bigger Debate About His Future

Giants fans had strong reactions when they heard his comparisons to Mahomes and Allen, and many took the discussion in different directions. Some argued that “This narrative is getting blown out of proportion because the Giants aren’t winning. If they were, the headline would be ‘Dart, the heroic tough QB the Giants desperately needed’.”

Others were far more direct, with one fan saying, “Someone remind him that he ain’t Josh Allen or Pat Mahomes.”

Another added;

“I can’t recall Josh Allen ever being injured, also he’s Josh Allen.

Mahomes, you don’t have to say anything in regards to him.

Dart is stubborn, he won’t last in his position if he doesn’t take people’s advice on not getting hit like this as a potential franchise QB.

Go down.”

One fan summed it up by saying, “Chronic losing warps reality. QBs always have injury risks no matter their style of play. When he’s one of the very few bright spots on the team the concern over injury rises exponentially.”

Even with the criticism, Dart’s confidence is clear. He believes his playmaking style can help him stand out, and he is not interested in changing what works for him. Still, that confidence only matters if he stays healthy. Fans are not questioning his potential. They simply want him on the field long enough to grow into the player they believe he can become.
