Jason Kelce reveals weirdest item he kept from Super Bowl and his brother Travis can't stop laughing at the confession

Of all things to keep...

Jason Kelce shared one of the strangest sports facts during a recent podcast episode. The weirdest thing he kept from his Super Bowl LII win is a teammate’s jock strap. The retired Philadelphia Eagles center made this surprising admission without any hesitation.

According to People, he revealed this on a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Travis Kelce. Travis plays tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. A fan called in during the “Heights Hotline” segment and asked about the weirdest items they kept from their Super Bowl victories.

Travis had to think about his answer, but Jason responded right away. He said he took the protective gear from his former Eagles teammate Brent Celek. Jason and Celek won Super Bowl LII together when the Eagles beat the New England Patriots in February 2018.

The Kelce brothers have a unique approach to preserving game-worn memorabilia

“I want to say I got [Celek’s] jock strap from the game,” Jason said. He then explained his plans for it: “I was going to mount it with his jersey.” Travis found his brother’s answer hilarious and asked where Jason keeps all his gear. Jason retired from the NFL in March 2024 after 13 seasons.

He keeps his collection of jerseys, especially ones from former teammates, displayed in his weight room. He said he usually doesn’t show off his collection, but he’s been displaying more of them lately. Meanwhile, the Browns’ new head coach sparked controversy with his approach to handling draft prospects.

Travis asked if his own Chiefs jersey would make it onto the weight room wall. “Of course,” Jason replied right away, confirming he knows exactly where it is. “I have all my jerseys stored downstairs. They’re all in the same location.” The brothers then revealed their shared rule about keeping game-worn gear: they never wash it. “I do not wash anything,” Jason said.

Travis agreed completely, saying that washing removes the authenticity and the story behind the items. While veteran NFL players like the Kelce brothers collect memorabilia, questions continue about Aaron Rodgers potentially returning to play.

“You can’t wash them,” Travis explained. “You gotta feel the dirt and the sweat. You gotta feel that. I’m not even in on putting them in glass. I want to be able to touch the fabric.” The dirt and sweat tell the story of the game, making the memorabilia more authentic and meaningful to them.
