Jake Paul is running down the names on his boxing list one by one. However, one of the biggest names that’s eluded him in the boxing ring is Canelo Alvarez.
Alvarez had recently stepped into the ring to go toe-to-toe with Terrence Crawford on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Both warriors gave it their all in the brawl, with Crawford coming out on top by unanimous decision. The Mexican boxer is going to sit and enjoy his rest time after the hard fight.
In the meantime, Paul is getting ready for his fight with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. However, it seems that the Problem Child already has big plans for who his next opponent is going to be. He is once again pushing a fight against Alvarez and spoke to reporters that it’s one of the biggest fights that can happen.
“Yeah, 100%, “That’s one of the biggest fights that can be made in boxing.”
The Fight Almost Took Place
Everyone wants a piece of Canelo Alvarez, and especially Jake Paul. The influencer-turned professional boxer has been calling out Alvarez for a few years now. However, it came quite close to happening.
Reports had come out that the fight was in the works at some point this year. A pre-agreement had reportedly been signed as well for the cruiserweight matchup to take place in May this year. However, it seemed that Alvarez moved on to a matchup against William Scull, leaving all of it dead in the water.
Paul stated on Fighthub TV that the fight will happen eventually. The Problem Child believes that he can take the Mexican down when they finally meet in the ring.
“Some of the people that he’s fought against and knowing what I’m capable of in the ring, and seeing what they do, I know that I can beat Canelo Alvarez, and everyone’s always said it as a joke or this and that, but it’s going to happen.”
Will The Fight Ever Happen
Jake Paul really wants to run down the biggest name on his boxing wish list. As of now, there seems to be a low chance of the fight happening anytime soon. But perhaps the two sides can negotiate an agreement for some time next year, if the terms are right.
Meanwhile, Paul has a tank to deal with as he goes against Gervonta Davis. The two are set to trade blows in an exhibition match on November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. There’s been a lot of criticism surrounding the matchup, but it seems the two warriors are sticking to their guns. We’ll have to see how this one turns out for Paul before he thinks about getting in the ring with Alvarez.
