It Came From the Forums: What's EA's Best UFC Game So Far?

We’re still waiting on news for EA Sports UFC 4. In fact, the most recent news we have is of a developer leaving the EA UFC team. So it’s fair to say we’re starved for some game details. With that in mind, there’s a fresh thread on OS where user foe87 is asking what people think is the best EA UFC game so far. He asks about 1, 2 and 3 since he hasn’t played a UFC game since UFC Undisputed.

The majority opinion so far seems to be UFC 3 if you’re into realism and best overall game, but UFC 2 if you just want to have a good time. UFC 2 has a superior knockout system and physics on those knockouts, which is where a lot of the “fun” portion comes from with that comment. It was also just a simpler game so it’s easier to get into from a controls standpoint.

UFC 3, on the other hand, did take some time to get to where it is today (like, well over a year) but still has a strong base of online fans even today. You can still easily find online matches, and it’s the more balanced game overall. In UFC 3, You can still just throw punches and combos while treating it more like a boxing game (like UFC 2), but you can also focus more on grapples and submissions if you want to go down that road.

Regardless of which game you prefer, all three are “free” if you have EA Access. So if you’re hankering for some UFC action, don’t forget that path is open for you. It’s also very easy to find the games for cheap online if you don’t want to subscribe to EA Access.

Also, don’t forget to head by the thread and give your own take on 1, 2 or 3 if you have it. Maybe you’ll be the first one to say the original EA Sports UFC is the best game.

Haven't played since ufc undisputed...which of the 3 is better?
No time for career mode, just exhibition here and there...is there a visual difference between the 3? I heard ufc 3's knockouts look odd.

Ufc 3 by far, if you like more realistic gameplay and are a hardcore fan. If you dont pay to much attention to detail and are just having a fun time and play the game here and there then ufc 2.

Pretty much this. UFC 2 was fun, but not nearly as realistic.
The KO’s felt more satisfying but also weren’t that realistic.
For me, UFC 3 is the best overall MMA game yet, definitely needs work on clinch, submissions and overall ground. And can probably pull from the UFC 2 KO’s a bit. But it’s the most realistic of them all.

All 3 are bad in different ways, don’t bother with any of them

At this point Im going with this ^^ You can get UFC 2 and 3 with EA access for free, so I wouldnt pay big money for any of these 3.
For me personally I think UFC 2 was the most fun game of all 3, but UFC 3 had the best striking so I would go with 3, since learning 2 could mess up your upcoming experience with UFC 4.
A mix of 3s striking and UFC 2 physics was the way to go... unfortunately EA messed it up. That still bothers me to date.

Man I do not say that none is wonderful, but I would not say of them that they were so heavy, the only one who really did not like me for missing everything was the first one, I would only save the comments in Spanish, because these comments are appreciated, especially for a European in Spain 🇪🇦 as I am, although they are spoken by Mexicans, but at least I understand I understand it, not like the English that unfortunately I do not understand.
From 2, the KOS who, as they say, are very good to see.
Of the 3 is much more complete in everything, many more game options, I am a lover of the fight on foot, I love that it has within the options that type of fight, although it would be even better if in addition to that type of fight we will also have boxing and muay thai, I hope we can count on them in UFC 4.
And of the UFC undisputed with respect to the EA games the grip system and the fight on the ground, as well, I really liked its playability, and it is that being a game of the previous generation still has things that EA games do not have, such as injuries, to be able to tie in fights that are matched, to be able to create up to 40 fighters, which is not that they are many, but something is something in comparison to the 22 of the last two titles of EA.
But even so I would not say that UFC 2 and especially UFC 3 were so heavy, if you could expect a lot more, hopefully UFC 4 is a much more complete game
As much as UFC 3 improved striking, it’s so much around it that’s set it back. Vulnerable system is too predictable, head movement and footwork actually lost some functions from 2, combos still rely on a somewhat gimmicky feeling mechanic... it’s unfortunate since striking is improved.
Plus takedown logic/windows make no sense now compared to 2. Just about everything successfully takedown requires using takedowns that need to be pre denied. Which feels completely unrealistic and not immersive since it’s just video game mechanics and not a realistic feel for finding openings for the takedown.
But 3 does have cage grappling to some extent and forward moving striking. I really should reinstall UFC 2 just to see how it felt again.
*UFC 2 was actually still installed, yeah, that striking was super wacky lol. But boy those KOs were great. I have no clue why they never really gave us the KOs we had before back. I’ll take a few wild KO physics over the stiff redundant ones we have now. I saved so many more highlights just because of the uniqueness of the old physics.
Now looking at it just wait for ufc 4, because its most likely going to be better then all the other ufc's,also the button layouts will most likely change so might aswell not get used to one. Also it will be more fresh to and you will be more hyped if you just wait out instead of hopping on any other ufc game and burning yourself out because at this most players are so good by now.
dont need newest and $60 isnt worth it for seldom play...just looking for an ufc match here and there...no real time to play, maybe 1-2 a month

In that case, stick with Undisputed 3 if you still have it. Best MMA game ever in my opinion.
    UFC 3 + PS4 Pro:
    - the most realistic and deep gameplay MMA game ever
    - now it is in its COMPLETE FINAL state (it took 1.5 years of pathces and evolving to become a candy)
    - it is nearly very good in most aspects (Striking, Footwork, Grappling, Health system). Clinch and sometimes KOs and some minor bugs are issues.
    - it is 60fps on PS4 Pro
    - it is still very popular online (15-25 thousands online players every day)
    - it costs less than 15$
    - Main Dev left. I am worry for UFC 4...
    - No any news for UFC 4. So, i think the next game will be not sooner than after 1.5 years. You have 1.5 years to play the awesome game.
RESUME: UFC 3 - the BEST choice now.

Where do you base this on? That would be a (+-) 42 month dev cycle, opposed to 24 months for the first three games.
