‘I was lost. Did you see me?': Anthony Edwards hilariously explains what it's like being guarded by Victor Wembanyama

The Wemby effect is very real.

Anthony Edwards hit a clutch jumper late in the game to help the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the San Antonio Spurs 104-103. Playing at Target Center against Victor Wembanyama and his team, Edwards scored 23 points and gave three assists as the Timberwolves came back from being down by 19 points.

According to ClutchPoints, Edwards was in a good mood after the game and joked about how hard it was to play against Wembanyama. “I was lost. Did you see me? I was like, damn, do I take a shot, do I drive him? I was confused,” he said in a video posted by Sneaker Reporter on X.

Edwards talked about how difficult it was to score against the tall defender. “I was lost, I didn’t know what to do right now. Him so tall, bruh. Like, he can take away everything. He can take away the layup, jumpshot, he got good feet, he can move. So, he is one of a kind,” Edwards explained.

Edwards proved why he’s clutch when it matters most

The Spurs started strong with a 16-0 run and kept Minnesota from scoring for almost five minutes at the start. But Edwards came through in the fourth quarter, scoring 9 of his 23 points in the final period as Minnesota beat San Antonio 33-18 in that quarter. His performance showed how star players lead comebacks in crucial moments.

Edwards had a tough start and struggled to find his rhythm for much of the game. He missed several early opportunities and didn’t sink his first basket until 7:22 into the first quarter, leaving fans and teammates anxiously waiting for him to heat up.

Wembanyama made his first start since New Year’s Eve and wasted no time making an impact. He led all scorers with 29 points and also pulled down seven rebounds, showing why he’s one of the most exciting young talents in the league. The game got off to a thrilling start for San Antonio, as Wembanyama electrified the crowd with two steal-and-dunk plays that helped the team surge to an early 16-0 lead.

Wembanyama scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in the first half. Minnesota used both Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle to defend him, which worked well. He only scored 13 points in the second half. Organizations value players who can deliver consistent performances under pressure. Late in the game, Gobert was called for a Flagrant 1 foul on Wembanyama. This foul led to Gobert getting a one-game suspension.
