NFL star Travis Kelce is aware that the Kansas City Chiefs fans don’t like excuses. The veteran has clarified he isn’t offering any after his team came up short against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 5.
The Chiefs competed against the Chargers and suffered a major loss of 27-21. Kelce has taken most of the accountability for the underwhelming performance during the game. He admitted that he wasn’t ready for the first drive.
Speaking on his “New Heights” podcast, the Chiefs player revealed he took one of his players out, which has been one of the most frustrating things to deal with after the game.
“I literally took one of my players out. That’s one of the most frustrating parts and it’s hard to get your juices back going knowing you just hurt a guy.”
What Travis Kelce’s Admission Reveals About The Toll Of Physical Play
This season has been one of Kelce’s worst of his career statistically. He suffered a massive Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February and finished Friday’s game with a touchdown and two receptions.
The game demands physicality, and it tends to cause some major incidents, like Kelce taking out one of his teammates. However, the veteran’s heartwarming gesture of admitting his mistake is truly remarkable.
“I was trying to kind of set up my guy to be able to get in position, and it all just happened pretty quickly. I just gotta be better, man. Thirteen years in the league, there’s no excuse for me running into my own guys like that.”
Kelce knows how to bounce back, and the fans are eager to see what he has in store in the upcoming games.
Why His Willingness To Shoulder Blame Stands Out In Today’s NFL
After Kelce collided with teammate Xavier Worthy on the first drive of the game, the 22-year-old had to leave the game with a dislocated right shoulder. Kelce praised the youngster and revealed he has been resting after the game.
The incident occurred during the first quarter game at Sao Paulo, Brazil. Both receivers were running routes in opposite directions before accidentally clashing with each other. Kelce has a muscular build compared to Worthy, which ultimately led to his injury.
The Chiefs are set to face the Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch on Sunday, September 14. Andy Reid, Chiefs head coach, revealed on Monday that Worthy’s status is unclear for the game. The youngster is resting up his shoulder, and it remains to be seen how he plans on making the comeback.
