Flopping is easily one of the most controversial topics across all sports. Be it soccer or basketball, there are a ton of fans on both sides of the argument — whether it’s an insult to the sport or a legitimate part of it. Either way, it’s a part of sporting culture, especially in basketball, where repeatedly drawing fouls limits opposing defenders and can net your team an opportunity at a relatively easy 2 (or more) points. In turn, it’s a part of NBA 2K25 as well.
NBA 2K25 gives players the ability to flop. However, it is a bit different in 2K25 than it has been in past titles. Here’s how to do it.
How To Flop In NBA 2K25

In past NBA 2K titles, flopping could be performed by double-tapping the B/Circle buttons on your gamepad. However, anyone who’s tried this in NBA 2K25 has surely noticed by now that this input does nothing in-game. That’s because instead of having it as a basic mechanic in the game, NBA 2K25 has designated the flop as an animation. Worse yet, it’s not even a stock animation you can just equip. Instead, you have to buy it with VC.
To buy the flop animation, do the following:
- Go to the MyCareer tab
- Select Animations
- Tab over to Animation Store
- Select In-Game Celebrations
- Choose either the NBA & Pro-Am Standing or Park Standing. It doesn’t matter
Once you’ve selected either NBA & Pro-Am Standing or Park Standing, you’ll be directed to a menu of animations that can be bought with Virtual Currency (VC). To purchase the flop animation, you’ll need 300 VC. That’s right, they’ve monetized flopping.
When you’ve purchased the flop animation, you’ll need to equip it as your standing animation for whatever game mode you desire to use it in. If you’re so eager to use it that you’re willing to part with your hard-earned VC, you’ll likely put it as the Standing animation in both NBA & Pro-Am and Park settings. To perform it once you’ve equipped it, press down on the directional pad of your gamepad.
So, there ya go. If you’re ever in a competitive match or fooling around in Park games, and someone flops on you, know that this person isn’t only trying to draw a foul — they technically paid to do so. Talk about throwing salt in the wound.
