If you’ve ever felt like something is just a little “off” when you’re at the plate in MLB The Show 26, there’s a good chance it has something to do with your camera. Hitting in The Show is all about comfort, clarity, and consistency, and sometimes the default camera angles just don’t cut it. The good news? You’re not stuck with them.
One of the most underrated tools in the game is the ability to create your own custom hitting camera. Whether you want a slightly tighter zoom, a different angle on the strike zone, or something that better matches your personal timing window, tweaking your camera can make a real difference, especially in offline modes where you have full control.
The process isn’t immediately obvious if you’ve never dug through the menus, but once you know where to look, it’s actually pretty straightforward. Here’s how to set up and fine-tune your own custom camera in MLB The Show 26.
How To Create A Custom Camera Angle In MLB The Show 26
While I’m sure there are other modes you can use, the best place to experiment with alternative camera angles is in Custom Practice. If you’re unaware of where to find it, it’s on the main menu in the Instant Action section.
Upon selecting Custom Practice, select whichever team you’d like. Once you’ve loaded up Custom Practice, pause the game, select Practice Type, then choose Batting. In all honesty, this probably doesn’t matter much. But, in my humble opinion, if you want a good custom camera angle, it’s probably best to make one that makes hitting doable, rather than something from an odd angle that makes it harder.
Once you’ve chosen Batting, pause the game again and go to Settings. When there, choose Cameras. After selecting this, you’ll see a host of options for in-game cameras. In the Hitting View section, scroll until you see “Custom 1.” You’ll have four custom slots to play around with.
Upon finding Custom 1, hit the button prompt for Edit Camera. On PlayStation, this will be Square. On Xbox, it will be X.
From there, you can change everything from the zoom to the angle and height. If you mostly like an existing preset camera that’s already in the game, but want to adjust it ever so slightly, you can use R1/L1 on PlayStation or RB/LB on Xbox to toggle between the different presets. From there, you can fine-tune them to your liking.
Once you’ve found something you like, hit Save. This will be X on PlayStation or A on Xbox.
Custom Cameras Aren’t Available Online
If you’re looking to create a custom camera to give you an edge in online play in Diamond Dynasty or elsewhere, I’m afraid I have some bad news: these custom cameras aren’t available online. I don’t know exactly why that is, but I have a guess or two.
For one, I’d imagine that if custom cameras were allowed in online modes such as Diamond Dynasty, some of the more sweaty players would create cameras that, in theory, could reveal a pitcher’s grip before the pitch.
However, should you feel the need to have one for offline modes such as Franchise or Road to the Show, you are free to take whatever custom angles you make into those modes.
