How to Change Difficulty in Undisputed Career Mode

Is it possible to give the AI... better I?

For better or worse, Undisputed represents boxing’s first foray into the mainstream gaming scene since the beloved Fight Night Champion‘s release back in 2010. It’s not a perfect game, but with EA Sports having all but abandoned boxing in favor of the MMA-focused UFC, it’s the best we got.

Upon grabbing a copy of Undisputed, many players will undoubtedly rush to the title’s Career mode to evaluate its offerings and create the next boxing star. But you’ve run into a problem — you’re 10 fights deep into your playthrough, and you find the action to be either a bit too challenging or a bit too easy. Naturally, players will attempt to increase or decrease the difficulty of the mode.

But how do you change the difficulty of your Career mode in Undisputed? Is it even possible?

Can You Change Difficulty In Undisputed’s Career Mode?

Unfortunately, if you’re finding your Career mode playthrough in Undisputed to be either too hard or too easy, there is no way for you to change its difficulty settings after starting it. That means, if you’ve overcalculated or undercalculated how good you are against CPU-controlled boxers, your only option is to start over from scratch.

It’s kind of ridiculous considering the options you can change in Undisputed career mode. If you want to change the crowd density, you can do that. If you want to change the camera view at individual arenas, you can do that as well. And don’t get me wrong, these are both great options to have in a game. That said, the fact that you can’t change difficulty when playing Career mode is an awful oversight on Steel City Interactive’s part.

It also creates balancing issues when it comes to progression. I’d say people more often than not will choose to start their career mode on an easier difficulty, get the amateur/tune-up fights out of the way, upgrade their fighter, then up the difficulty as the competition becomes more formidable. Even if you choose to fight on the hardest difficulty to begin with, you run into a situation where your first fights will be your hardest because it’s at the point where your fighter is the least skilled. And if you make it through those, the fights only get easier as your created boxer upgrades their skills.

So yeah, you can’t change the difficulty of an existing Career mode save in Undisputed. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
