WWE 2K is the go-to franchise if you are down for an authentic wrestling experience, thanks to its rewarding gameplay and satisfying mechanics. The series also offers tons of unique finishers, combos, and most importantly, OMG moments. You could trigger these OMG moments when prompted by pressing the right buttons in certain situations. This translates to breaking the barricade, diving off a ladder, or breaking the announcement table.Â
While the newer games such as WWE 2K25 still let you do all of that stuff, the way you go about it is quite different. As it turns out, breaking the barricade is the most difficult of these moments. This can be pretty complicated to execute and is limited to specific arenas. Let’s take a look at how it works in WWE 2K25.Â
How To Break The Barricade With A Suplex

Gone are the days when breaking the barricade was a simple ordeal. In the older games, all you had to do was prop up your opponent against the barricade, trigger an OMG moment by pressing the correct button, and there goes your opponent smashing through the barricade. It’s a great way to work towards a 5-star match too. But now, you must meet some requirements before making that happen.
One way of going about it is to select a superstar that has a suplex or two in their moveset. Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley are a good choice. Keep in mind that only the top left and the top right barricades are breakable.
Now, here’s where it gets tricky. You have to position yourself with your back against the barricade and your opponent standing in front of you. This ensures that when you hit the suplex, your opponent’s back hits the barricade. Once in this position, grapple your opponent, hit the suplex, and wait for the barricade to break.
Unfortunately, this won’t work right away. The barricade needs to be weakened before it breaks. As a result, you’ll likely have to try this move two or three times for the barricade to break successfully.
How To Break The Barricade With A Spear

Smashing the barricade with a Spear is a bit different and the key is to step into the ring with a superstar who has a Spear as their signature or finisher. Of course, the Trible Chief Roman Reigns immediately comes to mind.
For this, start by building up momentum and gaining a Finisher bar. Take your opponent ringside, and drag them to prop them up against the barricade. An Irish Whip can also work (Grapple + Circle in any direction), but sometimes you’re opponent will bounce right off the barricade. Once your opponent is finally in the correct position, hit your Spear finisher to break the barricade.Â
If you have enough momentum and your opponent is weak, a strong finisher will break the barricade right away. So, it’s much easier than the suplex method above
What About Other Moves?
It would be pretty lame if breaking the barricade was just limited to a suplex or spear. Fortunately, that’s not the case here. A lot of finishers and moves allow you to break the barricade as long as you are positioned correctly. For example, if your opponent has their back against the wall and you hit a spinebuster on them as The Rock, there’s a good chance you’ll send them through the barricade.Â
Similarly, a Powerbomb will accomplish the same thing if you hit it close enough against the barricade. This also applies to moves like Drew McIntyre’s Claymore, Kurt Angle’s German Suplex, and the Alabama Slam. I’ve even managed to break the barricade with Cody Rhodes with a Cross Rhodes. It doesn’t seem like it should work, but it does if you do it when close enough.
We don’t have an exhaustive list of all the superstars and finishers that allow you to break the barricade yet, but any move that throws your opponent in another direction has a decent chance.
Choosing The Right Arena

Another limitation of breaking the barricade is the fact that it won’t work in certain arenas. This applies to older WCW arenas with the old steel barricades. Similarly, any arena that has screens on the barricades won’t work either.
If you really want to break the barricade, choose one of the following arenas:

- Backlash 2024
- Bash In Berlin
- Clash In The Castle
- Elimination Chamber 2024
- Hell in a Cell 2017
- Japan Dome
- King & Queen Of The Ring
- Mixed Match Challenge
- Money In The Bank 2017
- Mutinymania
- New Year’s Revolution 2007
- No Mercy 2000
- NXT
- Raw 2002
- Raw 2011
- Royal Rumble 2022
