The Airwalk is one of the most well-known tricks across the Tony Hawk franchise, and it has naturally returned in Pro Skater 3 & 4. However, the Airwalk’s mechanics have been changed several times over the course of the franchise’s life cycle, making it difficult to know how to perform an Airwalk in every game you play. The trick can also be done from any direction, increasing the different combinations you can perform with it.
If you’re struggling with performing an Airwalk or you simply need the trick for a specific challenge in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4, don’t fret, as we have you covered. You can see exactly how to pull off the trick in the guide below.
How To Do The Airwalk Trick in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4

The most common reason for a Pro Skater 3 & 4 player to want to do an Airwalk is for a challenge in the Airport level. This challenge requires you to do an Airwalk over an Escalator, which sounds easy but can be difficult to pull off once you get into the level.
Fortunately, there are several escalators you can easily jump over while doing a simple Airwalk. The easiest one to do is on the bottom floor behind the security checkpoint. You can skate up the ramp on the right of the escalator closest to the right-hand wall, jump over the escalator, and have plenty of time to do an Airwalk before you land on the other side.
However, if you don’t know how to do an Airwalk, all of that is fairly useless information. You can see how to perform an Airwalk in the steps below:
- Start by getting a decent amount of speed before approaching a ramp, jump, or half pipe
- Once you have some speed, approach whatever you’re looking to jump off or skate up (in the case of the Airport level, approach the ramp near the escalator)
- Press the “jump” button to get some air and face the direction you want to go (if you’re using the example we provided in Airport, you want to go up the ramp at an angle facing the left)
- In the air, all you have to do is press down and to the right on your joystick while pressing the “grab” button. This is Circle on PlayStation and B on Xbox
- So the trick goes: down and to the right + Circle/B
- As long as you press and hold that button combination for long enough, your character will perform an Airwalk
- To complete the Airwalk over an Escalator challenge, just quickly Airwalk and then stop the trick before you reach the other side of the escalator you jumped over. If you did everything right, you’ll complete the challenge
And that’s all there is to performing an Airwalk in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4. It’s not too complicated of a trick, but it can get a little confusing when you want to pair it with other tricks.
