College Football 26 is set to release on July 10, and we are already receiving details about the game, specifically regarding one of the most important features in the game—the mascots! Based on information released by EA, we now know about some of the new mascots coming to the game.

This information has been collected and included in a massive spreadsheet compiled and managed by Operation Sports member Solidice. They’ve created this wonderful resource that includes basically all the information that you could ever want about the teams in the game. The spreadsheet includes team history, coaches, play styles and formations, team fight songs, and even what brand of uniform they wear, as well as so much other info. It’s awesome. I highly recommend checking that out if you want more info on the game.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into the new mascots that have been confirmed for CFB’26. New mascots will be added to this list if/when more new mascots are announced.

New Mascots In College Football 26

Iowa Hawkeyes’ Mascot: Herky the Hawk

Herky is a large, black, costumed hawk with a yellow beak and face, wearing an Iowa jersey. Herky has been the Iowa mascot since 1948 when Journalism instructor Richard Spencer III drew the hawk for the athletics department. It was solely a cartoon until 1959 when he first made his appearance at a game. Before Herky, Iowa used to bring out a live black bear named Burch before games. Herky is slightly less dangerous… at least I hope.

Mississippi State’s Mascot: Bully the Bulldog (costumed)

Bully has been the mascot for Mississippi State’s football team since 1935. Bully is a real French Bulldog that is the school’s main mascot. There have been 22 Bullys in the school’s history, with the first one getting hit by the team bus, which resulted in an extravagant funeral that was covered by Life Magazine. The costumed version of Bully was introduced officially in 1971.

Oklahoma’s Mascot: Boomer And Sooner Pulling The Boomer Schooner

Boomer and Sooner are two real horses that pull the Boomer Schooner onto the field at OU games. The Schooner is a covered wagon that carries members of Oklahoma’s spirit squad and is designed to look like the wagons used by the pioneers during the 1889 land run. This trio was introduced in 1964 and made official in 1980.

Texas Tech’s Mascot: The Masked Rider

While the Red Raider might have the namesake of the team, the masked rider is actually Texas Tech’s primary team mascot, being introduced in 1936. The masked rider is one of the oldest mascots in college football and is the first to include a live horse. Originally called the Ghost Rider, the mascot is played by a man or a woman in all black, aside from a red cape, riding a horse.

USF’s Mascot: Rocky The Bull

Rocky is a costumed bull created in 1956 after a school wide contest and introduced in 1962. His full name is Rocky “Dogie” Bull… so if that comes up in a trivia competition, you owe me half the winnings.
