Actress Hailee Steinfeld shared how she keeps her marriage with NFL star Josh Allen strong despite their busy lives. She said weekly date nights and a strict “no-phones for an hour” rule help them stay connected. The focus is on making sure their time together is high quality, not just finding time at all.
Steinfeld, who is 29 and stars in the hit film Sinners, answered a fan question in the edition of her newsletter, Beau Society. The fan asked how she maintains “an intentional relationship while both of you are so busy.” Her answer shows that even celebrities face the same struggles as everyone else when it comes to relationships.
Steinfeld said she didn’t want her answer to sound cliché, but kept it simple. According to People, she wrote that they are “big on weekly date nights and going no-phones for an hour at the end of the day.” She also said they focus on being “truly present with each other.” In a world where everyone is glued to their screens, turning off phones for even 60 minutes makes a real difference.
Busy careers make intentional time together more important than ever
Steinfeld and Allen, the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, got married in May 2025. They announced they were expecting their first child in December. Their lives are extremely busy, which makes their commitment to spending quality time together even more necessary.
Their winter schedules show just how hectic things can get. On January 11, Allen was leading the Bills to a 27-24 playoff win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On that same night, Steinfeld was on the red carpet in Los Angeles at the Golden Globe Awards.
They were on opposite sides of the country with major events happening at the exact same time. Other NFL players have also been making headlines lately, like Cooper DeJean’s Super Bowl party appearance that caught everyone’s attention.
Steinfeld had a lot to celebrate in January. Her film, Sinners, broke a major record on January 22 by earning 16 total Oscar nominations. This means her awards season schedule is packed with events and appearances.
Even with the distance, Allen showed his support for his wife publicly. After his playoff game on January 11, he shared a photo of Steinfeld on the Globes red carpet to his Instagram Stories. He added the emojis “🤤😍” as a caption, showing a simple way to stay connected when they can’t be together. Speaking of NFL stars staying connected with fans, Tom Brady’s Super Bowl ticket situation has also been getting attention recently.
While Steinfeld focuses on awards season, Allen has been dealing with an injury. He announced on January 29 that he had surgery to fix a broken bone in his right foot. He originally got the injury in Week 16 of the NFL season. Steinfeld’s busy winter will continue through March, with the Actor Awards on March 1 and the Academy Awards on March 15.
