Bad Bunny gets thrown more criticism his way once again. However, this time it’s from a former NFL player himself, Brett Favre. The Puerto Rican singer is set to headline the 2026 Super Bowl LX Halftime show.
Many celebrated the NFL’s pick as they chose one of the most-streamed artists to perform at the biggest stage possible. However, some have shown their disdain for the headliner pick. Now, Favre has joined that list of people as well who are not a fan of the NFL’s pick for headline artist at the Halftime show.
Favre criticized the NFL’s selection for the headliner on his 4th and Favre podcast. He stated that the football league should’ve chosen an artist like Jason Aldean or George Strait. Apparently, the Green Bay Packers legend sees those two artists as someone who loves their country and seems to be a big fan of them.
“I’d pick someone who — maybe Jason Aldean, or, you know, someone who loves this country and that everyone could relate to,” Favre explained. “I think Jason Aldean right now is as big a patriot and has a great voice. I threw George Strait out, and he may be like, ‘I ain’t doing that.’ I don’t know. But the guy has, I don’t know how many Number 1s he’s had, but good lord. It’s enormous. And I don’t think he’s ever done it, but that would be a pretty cool act to watch.”
Fans Are Divided On Bad Bunny’s Selection As Well
Brett Favre isn’t the only one who didn’t like the NFL’s pick for the headliner spot for the Super Bowl halftime show. Fans seem to be split on the decision as well.
On one side, many of them rejoiced as they loved seeing a Latin singer get the headliner pick for the halftime show. However, the other side started screaming at this decision. Many criticized the league for straying away from its patriotic roots. Even the US President, Donald Trump, called the decision out as being ‘absolutely ridiculous’.
The backlash is still currently ongoing, and a petition was even started to replace the Latin rapper. Many fans called for the NFL to replace him with George Strait. The petition has now reached over 200,000 signatures.
The Show Will Go On With The Latin Singer
Regardless of what other people or celebrities have to say, the Halftime show will go on with Bad Bunny. NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, has claimed they are proud to have the ‘Monaco’ singer perform at the event and don’t plan on replacing him.
The fans were quite unhappy to hear this, and the backlash for the Puerto Rican crooner has only grown stronger. Many conservative figures have also called the league out for pushing someone who has publicly criticized the United States. Amidst all of this drama, we’re sure the DTMF singer is looking to put on the best show possible for his real fans.
