After the Kansas City Chiefs lost their season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers 21-27, Gilbert Arenas poked fun at Travis Kelce. The former NBA player criticized Kelce for his poor performance in the game.
During the game, Kelce also got smacked hard in the face by Chargers tackle Teair Tart. The loss was quite disappointing, as many fans had high hopes for a good performance by the Chiefs.
On his Threads account, Arenas slammed the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end for his underwhelming showing against the Los Angeles Chargers. He encouraged Kelce to bounce back from this performance and trolled him for his statement about improving his performance.
“Mahomes top two receivers are still on vacation. That means its Mr. Swifty that has to come to play today,” Arenas said. “Like his fiancée once said, ‘You know how much I hate that everybody just expects me to bounce back, just like that’. Oh yeah, bounce back from that horrible non-existing performance that you did in Brazil.”
Travis Kelce Didn’t Have A Good First Game
While the main issue is with the Chiefs coming up short in the season opener, many also pointed out how it just wasn’t the day for Kelce. He got slapped in the face by Chargers defensive tackle Teair Tart during the game.
This led to the Chargers getting a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. However, the penalty charge didn’t do any favors for the Chiefs as they still lost the game 21-27 against the Chargers.
The Chiefs have the opportunity to bounce back on Sunday when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. However, the Eagles aren’t the sort of team that the Chiefs can improve their rank on, so they must be prepared for a tough challenge.

She was captured quietly entering Arrowhead Stadium for her fiancé’s first home game in the 2025-26 NFL season. She was present behind a large black screen, avoiding cameras, and watched the entire game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles from there.
