Forza Motorsport Update: Turn 10 Confirms Ongoing Support for Motorsport and Horizon 5

Following the recent Microsoft layoffs, 120 people were laid off from Turn 10 Studios. This started the rumor that Forza Motorsport might be cancelled. With the team silent on the franchise’s future, many fans began to suspect Forza had been abandoned.

But today, the Forza team finally broke the silence with a new update for Forza Motorsport and a humble message.

According to Turn 10, both Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport will continue to be supported, indicating that we can still expect new cars and fresh challenges to be added to the games.

Forza Horizon 5 has been a hit since its 2021 launch, and it’s still living up to the hype — especially with its recent arrival on PlayStation 5. The future for this franchise is already secure, as the new game is teased for next year.

However, it’s Forza Motorsports that worries fans, since the team behind it has been disbanded. Turn 10 now works as a support studio for Playground Games, assisting them in Forza Horizon. So, even if continued support is promised, it will eventually come to an end, marking the end of one of the best sim-racing franchises. While the vision is unclear for Forza Motorsport’s future, at least there’s an update. Let’s see what it brings. 

Forza Motorsport Update

If you were expecting something big, no new vehicle or legendary track is joining the game. Instead, the limited-time Track Toys Tour featured last year has been reintroduced and is now a permanent part of the game. If you didn’t manage to bag the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935 last year, now is your chance. 

Not just this tour, though. Every tour featured in the previous year will be revived. For this month, it’s Track Toys, and for September, it will be the Ringer. The Open Class Tour will also be available and can be accessed through the Challenge Hub. Additionally, the update also brings a laid-out timeline for featured Rival events that runs through early January 2026.

If you haven’t already noticed, nothing in this update is new, which means that the game is in its maintenance mode. By restoring all of the previous challenges, the developers are hinting at a proper closure for Forza Motorsport. That said, it’s sad to see such an iconic installment leave, even for those who prefer the more arcade-ish Horizon series.
