On the latest episode of Forza Monthly, the team introduced the online racing modes in Forza Motorsport comprised of the new Featured Multiplayer experience, Private Multiplayer and Rivals mode. The array of multiplayer features ensures a fair and competitive racing environment, providing a sturdy foundation for players to establish racing experiences they and their friends are looking for.
The Featured Multiplayer mode mirrors real-world racing weekends with scheduled events starting at specific times. It consolidates previous Hoppers and Leagues modes offering diverse events for various car divisions like GT, LMP1 and Touring cars, alongside open class and spotlight events and qualifier series for newcomers. Each event includes an entry cut-off and official start time, taking place on live servers. Players receive information about the track layout, laps, time-of-day, weather and temperature before entering. The aim is to create anticipation and spectacle similar to real racing events. The mode features Open Practice and Qualifying stages:
- Open Practice: Players utilize this phase to familiarize themselves with the car and track, adjusting tire compound and fuel load. The practice duration varies from 5 to 20 minutes based on event entry time.
- Qualify: Prior to the Featured Race, participants can enter the Qualify session to determine their starting position. A limited number of laps are available to achieve the best time.
Players can join an event during Open Practice or Qualifying 5 minutes before the Featured Race. Skip Lap is accessible in both practice and qualifying phases, allowing players to restart a lap. Featured Multiplayer maintains a frequent event schedule with new events starting approximately every 30 minutes across different series and featuring various parameters such as tracks, weather and time of day.
For personalized races, players can opt for Private Multiplayer where you can choose from Circuit Race, Timed Race, Multi-Class and Meetups. Hosts can adjust race length, car class, track and rules. Event rule presets range from relaxed to competitive with penalties and pit-stops. Private Lobbies enable authentic endurance races with 24-hour dynamic time-of-day with weather and customizable options like collisions, damage, assists and much more. Safety and Driver Ratings will remain unaffected in private multiplayer.
Rivals in Forza Motorsport is where you’re invited to really push yourself and the car to shave off every possible millisecond on a selected car and track combination.
Time Attack will be available at launch, where you can build a car to the best of your chosen PI class and attempt to set the fastest possible time. Just like Builders Cup, the cars you bring into Time Attack are always levelling up.
Rivals now includes a Skip Lap option for when you quickly wish to restart. You’ll also be able to identify which corners and track segments you are losing the most time on with Track Mastery sector scoring.
