Turn 10 revealed their official trailer for Forza Motorsport earlier in the week, along with some screenshots and a few details. Today the team provided a video and blog featuring the new Builders Cup Career Mode. It’s a competitive single-player campaign where you level up and build your favorite cars into track monsters.
The new mode includes Open Practice, a chance to understand the car’s unique qualities and navigate each turn and apex with precision. In this setting, your car remains in its original, unmodified state with no upgrades or tuning allowed. You experience the car exactly as the manufacturer intended, as if you drove it directly from the showroom to the racetrack.
In Open Practice, notable HUD features include lap-related information like target laps and lap time, as well as Car Mastery and XP. Each corner becomes an objective in itself, with your car earning XP and leveling up as you drive on the track, unlocking new upgrades. Track Mastery, inspired by the “10/10ths” concept in performance driving, measures how close you are pushing the car to its limits. Forza Motorsport calculates the fastest theoretical time through a corner, and players are scored against it, with a 10/10ths score displayed on-screen. Pushing the car to its limits in each corner rewards bonus XP, turning corners into valuable allies that provide instant feedback for unlocking your fastest self.
As your car levels up in Open Practice, new performance upgrades are unlocked. After each Builders Cup event, you can install these parts to continue your car’s journey. Some upgrades become available with your first level up, while others require reaching higher levels. The in-game upgrades menu displays the required level for each component. Each part is previewed with a spider graph showing its impact on the car’s overall balance. Installing upgrades requires Car Points, earned through in-game progression by driving and leveling up the car. You have the flexibility to uninstall a part and regain Car Points for use elsewhere, allowing freedom in your build choices. This new car-building approach empowers players, adds replay value and encourages experimentation. It eliminates the dilemma of choosing between purchasing a new car or upgrading an existing one since credits are no longer spent on upgrades.
