Forza Motorsport AI and Physics will Offer Competitive and Realistic Races

Forza Motorsport AI and physics promises to offer competitive and realistic races in both single-player and multiplayer modes. The game introduces advanced AI opponents and tire physics, utilizing machine learning to create AI drivers that behave like skilled human players. The AI follows optimal driving lines through corners, braking points and target speeds, resulting in thrilling and competitive racing experiences. Players will also see the AI make natural mistakes, such as braking too late or going off track.

Regarding tire physics, Forza Motorsport employs an improved model with 8 points of contact on the track surface, running at 360 cycles per second, providing better grip on uneven surfaces like curbs. The game offers various tire compounds, including Street, Performance, Race (Soft, Medium and Hard compounds), Drag and Wet tires, each with different grip and wear characteristics.

The tire heat model has been fine-tuned to result in smoother grip fall-off at extreme temperatures, allowing for better drivability and predictability even when pushing the tires to their limits. The team mentions Forza Motorsport will not have drag or drift game modes at release, although players can still access drag tires and drift suspension upgrades for use in private Meetup lobbies.

Forza Motorsport is set to release on October 10 and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10 and 11 PCs through the Microsoft Store and Steam platforms. It will also be accessible through Xbox Game Pass for console, PC and Cloud Gaming (Beta). Players have the option to pre-order the Forza Motorsport Premium Edition, which grants them early access to the full game, five days before the official release date.
