In a stunning exclusive from the New York Post, Kaliyev’s former girlfriend, Lauren Mochen, has exposed him for allegedly trying to scam her. The former couple had been getting ready for a vacation to remember before things started to get iffy. A month ahead of the trip, the 24-year-old NHL star told his ex-partner that there was a check he wanted to hand her from her mother, Rumiya.

The Uzbekistan-native forward gave her a reason that it was to ‘repay’ his mother for somehow accidentally taking money from her account. Kaliyev told her the money was used to pay the workers at his family’s shipping company, but he was trying to hide a mischievous secret instead. According to the details of the case, Kaliyev had a massive gambling problem that had him in thousands of dollars of debt with the rest of his teammates, which he tried to cover with Mochen’s money instead.

Mochen Says Kaliyev Used Her PayPal, Bounced Checks, And Offshore Betting Sites To Cover His Gambling Losses

Arthur Kaliyev had a deep secret that he had been hiding to fuel his gambling addiction, according to his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Mochen. The former Los Angeles Kings player had gained access to Mochen’s account and started to abuse his privileges. He informed her that his own account had somehow been frozen as a cover for his story.

The 24-year-old star promised that he would repay all the money that he took from her account after his account was unfrozen. Mochen decided to trust him, and after that, came a series of checks being cashed in from his family’s company into her account. She would then send that money digitally into his account. Mochen believed his story at first.

However, the big reveal came when she decided to go celebrate Kaliyev’s birthday in the Bahamas, where she finally checked her account. She was devastated to find her account balance read negative $7000. The bank then informed her that there were several fraudulent checks cashed in her account, and she immediately panicked after the revelation. All her trust in Kaliyev would shatter as she put the pieces together that her partner had been scamming her for around three years.

Those Close To Kaliyev Say His Gambling Habits Have Been An Open Secret Around The League

Arthur Kaliyev’s despicable gambling addiction not only put his girlfriend in severe financial risk, but others around him were also affected. His current best friend, Igor Larinov II, revealed to Mochen that Kaliyev had also owed several other hockey players around $50,000. This amount came from a collection of fines and bets over the years.

It seems that many other players already knew Kaliyev had a deep gambling problem, but no one tried to seriously intervene. Lauren Mochen ended their relationship after everything came to light and now intends to press further charges that might see Kaliyev end up in a tough spot he made for himself.
