  1. I'm enjoying the game overall. Looks and feels mostly good. My only issue after one match vs. the CPU on Legendary is that the Strafe Dribbling is extremely overpowered. I'm Chelsea vs. CPU Barcelona and once they get near the box, it's super difficult to get the ball back because they strafe dribble and skill move non-stop

Did you turn off competitor mode it's on by default. I'm guessing thats why you are seeing a ton of skill moves.

You are a lifesaver, thank you so much! I never would have thought of that
Haven't spent enough time with gameplay yet but it seems almost identical to 20. So quick initial thoughts:

    • Manual heading once I figure it out might be amazing
    • Editing players is back to normal
    • You can now choose all songs from both soundtracks
    • Don't forget to turn off all the new assists they've added like auto shooting and auto clearance.
    • Semi throughballs are finally an option!
    • The menus got a new coat of paint which I prefer to the horrible bright gray/white background
    • Finally in CM you can see your opponents expected starting XI
My first impression wasn't really a good one but I really didn't play Fifa 20 much besides the demo and very very little of the trial so I am not really comparing it to that more so 19 which I spent a lot of time with and it feels identical. AI attacks seem varied but the feel of the game is just off for me and I still hate the way you defend it's just not practical for me because you can never get close to a player properly.
I will try to play more this weekend and jump straight into Career Mode to see what it's like but not really optimistic.
Overall, I am really enjoying it. To me finally career mode, feels alot better. I am enjoying the depth to it now with the added features. The new transfer loan to buy is amazing and should have been added awhile ago. Starting with a scout and some youth is a beautiful touch I like.
Gameplay feels great and improved from last year to me.
The biggest disappointment and thing I have alot of issues with and really angers me is NO new leagues or adding of North American Champions League. Id love to know if in the history of FIFA, if they ever released a new game without any new leagues. Come on EA, just bad. I really also hope you add the North American CHampions LEague. Its long past due. Each year, you all just put alot of work into the MLS and its Broadcast stuff, but without that tournament it feels a waste to me. THis coming from a big MLS fan.
Oh well, please do add some new leagues for next gen.
I wasted precious trial hours playing a game of VOLTA. The gameplay seems improved this time around so that good. Feels like the actually put effort into making the gameplay unique to smaller pitches/courts and 5 or less players on a team. Last year it felt like they just used the game play from the main game. The mode had so much potential last year but the dropped the ball. Control still feels a little sloppy but maybe that improves as your attributes increase.
Just played my first 3 games and I absolutely hate the gameplay.
Especially the ball physics. I don't know what it is that they changed but the game feels like it's even more on rails than its predecessors.
It seems to me like the ball is always glued to one player on the pitch and is never in "free flow" if you know what I mean.
You can always predict exactly where its going to be when you dribble or pass it.
The new dribble animations contribute heavily to that feeling and make everything looks super weird.
Besides from that everything else feels and looks the same, very stale. From the first minute you feel that EA didn't put any effort in this game and probably focused on the next-gen versions and probably Corona played its part as well that there were limited developments.
I'd love to check out the new features in career mode but with the gameplay being what it is I'm not even seeing the reason to waste any more time on this game.

The herky jerky animations and skating kill it for me along with how fast the ball flies around the pitch. Don't get me started on defending I'm really curious about how this plays on Next gen though.
i watched some footage on YT, wow, this is just big big gaga.
Like the post above, what fifa does really really BAD is on the animations part / motion capturing, with all the icing movement and super fast dribblings, like each animation only has a few frames motion-captured aka like playing a 24fps footage on 60fps.
If the player on FIFA can't reach the ball, he simply skates to the position, something you barely see in PES2020 or really just a minor mini-skating here and there. There are simply more accurate animations which fill those gaps.
Like i said before, the whole FIFA-Team needs to be replaced. Back to school, learn the basics. Since Konami's PES can do it, it's surely nothing impossible.
FIFA21 Price Tag with official Licenses .... 5,99€, without official licenses ..... 0,99€

I agree about animations and skating, it has been bad for years now. It affects gameplay and immerssion a lot, thats why i have played only PES last five years.
But, with OS sliders those seemed bit more realistic at FIFA 21 on Matt10 stream last night. I was suprised, how much better and realistic it looked.
Damn, I must be an absolute footballing novice because I'm actually really enjoying the game. Then again, I also enjoyed FIFA 20.
Got in a quick game this morning before work as Chelsea against RB Leipzig playing on World Class difficulty, 7 minute halves and I had a blast playing. Here's my impressions.
    What I like
    * The player movement seems a lot more free flowing this year than it did on 20. I feel like speed really matters
    * I think the ball weighs "less" than in previous years. I personally feel like I have more control of the ball than I had in previous years, and the ball isn't glued to everyone's feet so defense is actually fun
    * For the first time in a long time, I think ratings matter. You could see the difference on the pitch between the two sides and I was confident in securing the victory because of it.
    * Shots have WAY more power on them this year. When you really put your foot into a ball and bang one in it feels very satisfying.
    What I Don't Like
    * Not enough stoppages in play. Ball doesn't go out for throws often enough in the middle of the pitch
    * Not enough fouls, particularly by the CPU. It seems they can just bully you with almost no consequence.
    * Defense is still iffy at times. I was able to carve them up through the middle of the pitch. This could be a different story when I go up against some PL sides in my career. We'll see
Overall, I like it. I'd like to consider myself a fresh newbie to the hardcore European and International football scene. I've been watching the Premier Leauge and the Bundesliga for about 2 years now while trying to follow the rest of the football world, so I really do enjoy this game.
I can see why the more experience footy fans aren't big on the FIFA franchise and that's understandable. I'm just as critical to the Madden, NBA and Show games. I'm having fun with this and I'm sure it'll be the only thing on my PS4 and PS5 for the rest of the year.

Sure do! This is one of the biggest problems with the Fifa series and one that has pulled me away from the series. The other is the actual CPU AI and gameplay.
Thanks for the impressions. I was planning to renew my EA play subscription and give the trial a try, but now I'm going to hold off and stick with eFootball 2021 for my soccer fix.
I've played seven matches with 10 minute halves on slow speed. Not a super sample size, but enough that I have impressions.
    Good:
    - There's a lot more hand-checking and general engagement between players this year.
    - On default sliders the AI actually makes bad passes!
    - More variety of attacking movement.
    - Better overall AI defence. The AI is in particular better at cutting out passes this year.
    - The AI seems to value the ball. In seven matches I've had less possession than the AI in all but one match, and in one of them even had less than 40% of the ball, which was unheard of last year. I could boss possession in every match last year win or lose.
-Being able to manually decline advantage is a huge change! No more purposely passing the ball away and hoping the ref is still going to give you the free kick.
    - More bad touches than last year on default sliders, but probably still not enough.
    - The career mode changes feel like more than just a coat of paint. Playing players in their proper position finally matters, the training mode is pretty decent and not as annoying as I feared, and (at least so far) the manager goals, particularly in the youth development area, seem better and more realistic.
    - If you play with handballs turned on, those have definitely been fixed. I've had quite a few called outside of the box, for and against. Inside the box, they seem to be calling it the same way they have been in the Premier League this season, which is to say maybe too much.
    Bad:
    - EA is still using the youth soccer model for goal kicks where everyone just lines up in formation.
    - Some of the player ratings are mindbogglingly bad.
    - Too many gaps to be exploited by through balls.
    - Shooting accuracy is way, way too high.
    In the middle:
    - They seem to have changed corner kicks. You can't really drive the ball anymore. Now the meter gives you a smaller variance in loft. Scoring from corners seems easier this year, but hopefully not too much. It's hard to say with my sample size.
Overall I'd say I'm pretty encouraged. Two of the four strong negatives can be fixed with sliders. I'll probably stick to my PES ML until the first community slider set comes out, but I feel like I'll get a lot of enjoyment from both games this year.

There's a reason why Game Changer streamers are reluctant to playing matches and just only streaming pack openings.
    Pros:
-you can score headers and complete crosses
-CPU players don't stand idle or go stupid when you do a skill move
-The game feels better with more control of your player as they have slowed down the game speed
-Career mode changes are good and this amount of effort needs to be included every year
    Cons:
-CPU AI defence is weak. I won my second game, 4 min halves, 7-2 on legendary. Runs down the middle were not being tracked.
    - goalies aren't making saves like they should
Aha. It's some weird sport that I wouldn't exactly call football/soccer because the team aspect of the sport is not implemented. It's not an 11v11 thing. It's a 1v1 thing. Is this an early access/kickstarter project or is this how 8 year olds buying fifa points like it? Unfortunately, I was looking for a football/soccer game, with a midfield and teams defending as teams, my bad.
I'll check again in 2025, maybe.
Maybe by that time motion capture technology will also be available to small indie studios and players will not move around like they can't sort their feet out for 90 minutes. :)

I can't even find fifa 21 on ea play... they mustve removed it

You need to go via the regular store: this is where you'll find the option to download the trial.
Reading reviews on many websites, blogs and forums. As always many complains about cpu and team players ai. I agree with that, but my point of view is different. So here are my game thoughts so far.
First to say i dont play cm or fut. I play only kick off matches something like predictions. Take best matches of the day and play them. Main reason is many different leagues, trying many players and teams and i love it. I play like that since FIFA 13.
WHAT i really like is FUN. For me, its mistake that they are trying to create simulation. Why? Because when i want that i take ball and go outside and play simulation with my friends. I just want game to be fun. To have moments to remember. I dont care about ai or fouls.
My setup is on PRO, i dont play just to win, but to enjoy that specific match. I dont even attack cpu so much, i let them play a bit.
This game is so similar to last one but its updated. Many new stuff that i like, shoot ball into net after scoring goal. I see that there is a lot of random gameplay stuff, animations and random goals like reflecting shot from DF into goal, or by GK ant its superb. I had like 5 random goals in 10 games and i love it.
I dont know, found this game fun and love to enjoy every match. Also with new grass and goalnet settings game is now less repetitive or monotonous cause many generic stadiums have unique look with different teams.
And talking about good stuff (atmosphere, graphics etc) that little touch custom goalnets is fantastic. It makes game much less repetitive. I mean check Court Lane. Even with artifical turf and custom goalnet its different stadium.
Also i like when ball hit post goal movement

And after scoring goal now you can shoot ball into goalnet

Yeah I'm also curious about next-gen but it seems like they just worked on the graphics and didn't really go into AI / gameplay elements.
Really hoping for PES 2022 Next-Gen making a huge leap that puts FIFA under so much pressure that they start working on the fundamentals of the game.
I don't know what they did to the animations this year. Been playing FIFA excessively since FIFA 09 and I enjoyed it every year for a couple of weeks.
The two things that always annoyed me the most gameplay wise were the dribbling animations which always seemed a bit off and that the "tactical" part of the game hasn't improved at all over the last decade.
Attacks are always run exactly like in the playbook. If you started with FIFA 09 on Xbox 360/PS3 and skipped directly to FIFA 21 you'd still see the same running patterns after playing a few games. PES does this so much better, but PES has it's own flaws.
What really bugs me is that EA never really worked on this. Maybe because they dont wanna deter all the FUT/Online players who are just so used to attacks always being run the same way or they just lack the tactical knowledge on how to program the AI so the game feels more lifelike and diverse.
A huge disappointment but I didn't expect anything from EA. At least EA Play Pro allows me to test these games without paying the full price.
This is the first I've played FIFA since last winter. Been playing other, very high quality games in that time. It is so striking coming back to FIFA in that this game feels so outdated, not too mention just poor, relative to the great games we've had this year (and in recent years). The animation system especially is just awful.
Never before have I felt that this game needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, but this game feels way too poor to control for 2020. And don't get me started on the AI.
I might pick it up on the PS5, just out of curiosity to see what's improved, but right now this FIFA leaves me excited to see what PES can do after taking a year off. FIFA needs to do the same.
Quick thoughts after 3 games = Small sample size
(WC - 10min halves - Default sliders - Championship - League one teams)
    The Good:
    - AI dribble more
    - AI Free kicks are no longer going in the 30th row..
    - Saw more long shots than usual.
    - Can adjust the pitch color.
    The Bad:
    - All players dribble like messi..
    - Usual bugs before the 1st patches: player on the field without face, AI takes like 1 real time minute to take the penalty after an handball(happened to me 3 times) teams without sponsor on jersey, etc)
    The Ugly:
    - AI Crosses : gone..
    - Midfielders: Not tracking back..
Does anyone know, if players having negative stats for playing their secondary position is a bug, or is it the way it's supposed to be?
Seems dumb to have a LW that has a LM as a 2nd position, getting -2 ovr for playing LM.
If this isn't a bug, what's the point in second positions?

Is this in career mode. If so it could be negative because the new match sharpness mechanic. I haven't heard any other mentions of problems with out of position players.

IMO you should be penalized since different positions require different skill sets in real life.
You get penalized in EA because they calculate overall rating based on your position and what attributes are more important for that position.

I get that, but I'm not talking about a cm playing rb. Im talking about a rm, playing rw, and rw is listed as a secondary position.
Even if u change the players position through training, then put them in their old position, they drop in overall. How does that make sense?
I feel like I'm missing something with VOLTA it's better than it was last year but it doesn't really hold my attention. I'm talking the actual game not the stupid story mode where they insist on an british voice actor for your avatar. Maybe it's better playing multi player but playing it solo is meh. The presentation, the gameplay just bland.

Well there are a few different skills that are involved in each position. RM would use defensive stats as they often track back deeper whereas a RW would use more shooting stats.

In PES if a player has zone indicators on other parts of the field than his position, he can then be reassigned to that new position within his zone but when doing so will usually reduce his overall rating (85 > 79) but then leaving him there for a few games should increase his overall up again because he's learning to play that position. Has EA done this with players on second positions?
Love the game so much. Ran through my trial hours crazy fast.

    • Career mode is sick. So much depth. I spent 3-4 hours just getting everything set up. The sim feature is just incredible. Hopping in and out of matches feels great. The training/stamina re-work is great too. Finally we can choose to play our first team guys in every match if we want to. Very impressed.
    • Gameplay is so good. Animations are beautiful. Graphics are clean and impressive for current gen. And how it all feels is just really good. Players have a lot of weight to them. CBs actually respond to offensive players this year. Competitor mode is a great addition.

It's just a great all around game. On it's own is amazing, but thinking about how Career was so broken you couldn't even play for the first month or so last year makes this even more impressive. Really pumped for the game and I wish they would borrow Madden's decision to transfer Franchise files to next gen.

So....after the player trains to play the new position, then plays his old position (losing attribute points,) makes sense?
I understand what they are trying to do, but it's flawed. Im an ex college player. I started off as a CM, but got moved to ST. After learning the nuances of the ST position, I played a handful of times at my old position. I didn't play worse.
Only in FIFA can a player gain skill and knowledge and have it be a bad thing.
    Flawed logic.

I bet you did play worse. If you're not training in a specific position, you're unlikely to play to the best of your ability in that position. Even if its just being slightly out of position at times or not understanding the nuances of movement in that area of the field. Practise and repetition is so important in everything. As soon as you stop that, and especially when you start practising or repeating something else, you immediately become less efficient.

First off. You know nothing about me. 2nd....the point, is that the player is trained.
You spend 13 weeks (or whatever the game says,) training for the new position, you shouldn't regress when you play your old position.
How this is confusing baffles me.
I have been doing trial to try giving fifa 21 a fair shake in career mode, but had freeze during career mode happen multiple times where you cannot control players on field or button to advance, stuck with one player just walking and walking. Really strange. Huge problem. Tested a chelsea cm, happened again game 2 of season.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it is:
The listed overall for that player is different based on the position, but none of their actual attributes have changed. Your left-wingers sprint speed, dribbling, crossing, standing tackle, defensive awareness, etc. will not have changed. But because which attributes are most critical may be slightly different for a LW then for a LM, their overall rating is different.
To take it to an extreme example; Kylian Mbappe is one of the best attackers in the world. Moving him to CB would not decrease his attacking skills but his overall rating would now be much lower because his attributes that are important at CB (defensive awareness, tackling, etc) are not very good.
I spent last year (and the previous 3 years) playing PES.
Whilst I always buy both games, to me FIFA has always been a bit of an arcade experience, centred around tricks and speed but no football sense.
Whilst tricks are still dominant and too easy to pull off, I think EA has done some good strides in terms of recreating a football match. Positioning of players has improved tremendously. Mechanics, animations and graphics aside, it does actually play like a real football game and everything is very intuitive in terms of what you want to do, what runs you expect to see in a given context and what player positioning makes sense in a given situation. In this department FIFA looks head and shoulders better than PES which is still a mess in terms of player positioning, runs, and overall enjoyment.
FIFA feels much more unpredictable and organic and if you reduce some of the attributes, such as pass accuracy and you pick two lower division teams, it really plays and looks scrappy (in a good way) - like a Sunday league game, with balls going astray, frequent turnovers and just a fun experience.
Where it falls flat on its face is in the graphics and animations department. Graphics-wise PES is unsurpassed - from player models, faces, details. PES is also more cinematic - scoring a goal in PES looks and feels amazing, whereas in FIFA it's a bit of an anticlimax - it just looks and feels lame, with players booting a ball in even from 2 metres instead of a tap in animation. Crosses also look strange, with the ball trajectory being a bit iffy. Animations are also weird, especially sprinting, defending, tacking and jostling. If just looks choppy and jittery somehow.
My hope is that the PS5 version would look a bit more organic and smooth in the animations department. If they can manage to do that, I would be a happy convert as PES continues to be very stale and frustrating.
There are some less important but still irritating things in FIFA - why can you not choose the time of kick off in Season mode? Also, the lighting is weird - it goes from super bright to very dim.
Lastly, there is a strange bug when you switch hand balls on and you concede a penalty via a hand ball. The camera zooms on your plater, then he goes into a tilt and starts trotting around for about 20 seconds. The first time it's funny, but it does it every time, which is clearly a bug.
Overall good job on the pitch, EA, but the game is in desperate need of smoother animations and better graphics. The ideal game would be graphics / animations from Konami and gameplay from FIFA.

I'm not actually sure. I just notice when I've trained a RM to be a RW, making RM his new secondary position, he gets a downgrade if he plays RM after a position change.
In a logical world after training in a new position, playing your old position would hurt an overall. But apparently I'm a moron for thinking that, lol.

Anyone have anything to say about the career mode updates? Skimming through I haven't seen anyone really mention it.

    It’s much improved.
Transfer negotiations are better - more player swap offers, more accurate transfer fees, etc...
Sim tables from other leagues are fixed
    Menus are quicker
The player morale system has better logic

Other than the position change stuff, my overall impression of (career mode at least) is good.
The amount of stuff you need to do now is incredible. I really like how training helps game performance more now, as opposed to overall ratings.
The additions of training specific attributes in the "set it and forget," is awesome. I play mainly youth squad rebuilds, and I can now train strength, weak foot, etc.
My only gripe with the training for in game performance, is that if you just sim the drill you get the lowest score everytime, unless you play the drill and get a higher score. So, if you do a dribbling drill and get an A, if you sim the drill after that, you will always get an A.
Part of my negative reaction to that, has to do with the fact I only have 10 hours with the trial. I can honestly see myself doing all the drills for 10 hours alone when I get full access, to get high grades.
All in all, this is the first year this generation, I feel like I'm actually upgrading from one Fifa to the next. Hopefully it won't take another decade to have this feeling again.
Game play wise, im not overly impressed, but I also don't want to judge to much, because I don't know how much the training for game performance messes with moments where defenders are lost, etc.
Am I just too bad for Legendary? I was playing on Legendary pretty comfortably in FIFA 20 I wasn't winning every game, but I was very much competitive. This year I'm not saying I can't win any games, but it seems like every time I get near the box the defense blocks every attempt, wether it be a cross or a shot. And every time I make a move like a cut back, the defense steps in and cuts me off. Are people having this issue on other levels, or is Legendary just tougher this year? And that's with competitor mode turned off.

Was it after a penalty was given for handball? If so, I finally figured out that hitting R1+L1 would make it stop. Or maybe it was both triggers. It's been a few days. Been playing PES while waiting for some kinks to get worked out of FIFA.

I had the exact same problem. I played on Legendary on FIFA20 and did very well. Played on Legendary on FIFA21 and was getting completely decimated lol. Losing like 8-4 and stuff like that. So I was able to score but getting trashed on defense. I moved down to World Class for now on FIFA21 and I am having a blast. The scores are more realistic. 2-1, 1-1, 1-0, etc

Also i like when ball hit post goal movement
    https://giant.gfycat.com/SimplisticConventionalHapuka.mp4
And after scoring goal now you can shoot ball into goalnet

How do you change the settings for the goal nets colours / patterns, ive looked through and I can't find anything in the options?

Game has grown on me the more I play. The improvements are just enough to be noticeable and make me want to give EA props, but still minor enough that it doesn't just feel good enough overall.
At this point, I have three main criticisms:
    1. Not a fan of the look and feel of the players. These janky *** stick figure animations need to go. I want to feel like I'm controlling real athletes. For a variety of reasons, I really dislike how the players look, handle, and feel.
    2. There's too little midfield play and it's way too easy to just bypass. Considering how most of the top teams play out from the back super deep now, FIFA feels like it's playing a decade-old brand of football.
    3. The AI and positioning of players. This might be my biggest pet peeve. Midfielders and teammates in general do not help out enough. I'm okay with EA wanting to make this a bit more of a one on one game, but at least you gotta have my guys in the right spot. They're too often late to get goal side and really poor at tracking runs. They're slow to loose balls. They refuse to come back enough and mark in the final third. The attacking movement and AI isn't much better, but at least those problems don't cost you easy goals.
Game is fun. If there's enough of a graphical and performance improvement with the next gen version, maybe I'll play longer this year. There's some massive weakness when it comes to football IQ and just how it handles, but this year was probably never going to be a great year for sports titles.

I think the last point is the one that needs tuning from EA. I like the fact the players seem to be more unique to control but defensively the marking and positioning is poor. Midfield runs from CAMs and CMs are only sometimes tracked by the midfielders and CBs which leads to goals.
The other thing is shooting is too easy to get on target and goalies don't save well enough. I am also having a lot of shoot outs with 7-2 score lines happening too much.
I was real late to fifa 20 this year so I've been playing it quite often but I have the EA play subscription on PC so this games included and I downloaded.
After only playing 3 matches I cant go back. The game just feels smoother and organic. I play manual passing and it's so much better. Passing is crisp and feels like it has more zip.
I'm really impressed. Now I just gotta wait for the modding community to get rolling.
I'm having more fun with this game on World Class, Legendary is just too difficult for me in FIFA 21 right now. My only complaint is that the generic players look horrible. Like Mason Greenwood I could live with last year this year the player model looks horrible. And it's like 17 year old generic players look like they're 35 years old. At least make the generic players look younger.

I read somewhere it's FUT only for goal net colours.
CM or kickoff, you can adjust:
    - the field color (green-to greener, to super not green :), etc)
    - the field lines (i think theres 3 choice: blue-orange-third one?)
First off let me say I enjoy the game, however it seems to easy this year. I think I am fairly average and play on world class. That has been my skill level. I win some I lose some, but this year on WC I win ALL and in convincing fashion. Playing as Watford I am 6-0 with a goal difference of 27-8. Also haven't had any issues signing players, transferring in new players but turned on strict policy. Not sure how that is supposed to work but I've gotten El Sharwaay and a few players from Argentina, and Spain without as much as a hiccup. How exactly is that suppose to work? I enjoy the sim coaching option as well as training, resting and all the morale stuff so far but idk. I can't quite put my finger on it. Something still seems to easy in gameplay and as manager. I expected as Watford to struggle to get my targets in but its been simple in game and on the transfer side of things.

How does not anyone notice players just standing around the pitch? This makes game unenjoyable for me. Especially in midfield?

It has been noticed, dont worry.
Hopefully a patch will fix it.

Yeah I didn't even finish my trial because of some of the issues I was having with this. I don't need to say anymore honestly there are some that are enjoying this and good for them but at this point hopefully a patch can fix the abundant of issues I noticed on the defensive side of game for me even to think about jumping back into this. :(

Cheers mate. It was just the chap that mentioned it said he only played kick off matches and didn't play career or FUT so I was expecting to see an option. Would like to see the capability of changing things like seat colour and net colour and style for teams that have generic grounds. Serie A for instance only has San Siro as they have lost Allianz Stadium and now Stadio Olimpico. Would be good for instance to be able to have blue and white stripey nets at Napoli like in real life to just add something different to the generic stadiums. Surely easy enough to implement if they have added it for FUT

Is there a way to play a season without dealing with all of the team management tasks such as transfers? A season mode or a way to turn off or automate all of the other stuff?

Yep you can choose a league in tournament mode or create your own league which won't have any of the transfer / training aspect

To add to this :You'll only be able to play 1 season & only league fixtures.
Is there a way to remap the triggers for Attack, but not for Defense?
I really want to use R1 for jostling (as in PES) instead of L2 (FIFA). But when I remap, that also changes it to the attack controls, which I don't want.

Can we set this up without it crashing like it did for PS4 in 20?
...the goalkeepers are crap... like a lazy bag of potatoes... who programmed this crap...? Has nothing to do with animations of the 21th century.. if it were Fifa 2000...ok... bit this is pathetic... you don´t know how to programm..
Referees: what a bug... never seen so many yellow cards for - nothing... on the other side, the CPU can rip my players leg off - nothing happens... the referee always seems to blow in favor of the cpu.. the running of the players has improved a bit, but no milestone... I am disappointed and it seems, the programmers just made a copy of FIFA 20 with minor adjustments.. that´s it...
Ok, I’ve had a week at it in Career Mode with United on Legendary and various versions of sliders...
    Simply unplayable in the main.
Defending is nigh on impossible, you cannot win the ball without fouling 90% of the time, every foul is a yellow card. Things you are carded for the AI relies on as staples of their defensive game and go unpunished. Every tackle by the AI is either a foul or clairvoyance. The COM defenders ability to stick out a leg, predicting the path of a pass or change of direction, perfectly time and control the ball instantly while incapacitating your attacking player is incredible. When the AI attacks, the jockey function is so broken they just wait forever an attempt, change direction accordingly and just stroll past while your defender continues going slowly in the wrong direction, regardless of what you do, for long enough to allow the COM to get where it wants to go. The AI of your defending teammates so bad they follow no runs, sense no danger, vacate positions and stand and watch as the COM takes time to flick the ball up and basically do whatever they feel like within 25 yards of goal until they score. Podence of Wolves at 5’5 and 9 stone effortlessly holding off Harry Maguire and pushing him about, COM players jumping over the ball to turn their back on defenders and using The Force to stop your defender getting around or through them for as long as it takes until a simple pass appears, every time they get the ball, as an attacker it is nigh on impossible to shield the ball from the COM defenders, doesn’t matter what you do. Player defenders have absolutely no recovery pace, COM defenders capable of making up 10 yards in 3 paces. Player clearing headers, passes, big hoofs to COM every time, in the most ridiculous of circumstances allowing an easy goal, COM clearances perfect, pinpoint cross field passes or counter attacker launching balls. All loose balls spinning and bobbling to COM players, who win absolutely every 50/50. Goalkeepers the square root of useless and their distribution nothing short of a joke.
I’ve been 1 or 2 down inside 20 minutes of all but about 2 games, absolutely powerless to stop it. Good fun turning it round tbf, but the number of times I’ve got it back to 3-3 or so and all players suddenly stop moving or reacting allowing COM to get a last minute winner or equaliser is painful.
Passing is poor. Everything under hit and misplaced, ball bobbling along as if you’re playing on a cabbage patch in the PL. Receiving players reacting as if they’re ankle deep in the mud, holding still or taking an awful touch, waiting to allow COM players to catch them, or they just stand behind defenders/midfielders offering no angle for a pass or inclination to move. Any forward pass made will pick a line and pace that favours the COM defender in all but the clearest of situations. Lofted through ball is utterly useless, even the slightest touch sending the ball flying out of play if it suits the COM, or the longest press sending the ball 3 yards to the chest of the defender, crossing likewise. Corners may as well be goalkicks as they magnetise to the goalkeeper who is invincible, capable of leaping over entire defences and attacks in a single bound to punch clear. Shooting is decent, too many off the post and back out though. Freekicks (non shooting opportunities) pointless. Throw-ins infuriating, as the receiving player turns to a statue as the ball is gently lobbed toward them allowing COM to nip in in any situation of competing for the ball. Players movement feels jerky, sluggish and at times like you aren’t even in control and animations look out of place. The desperation for the game to slip into scripts and animation in order to look good fails, both in looking good and making the game fun to play.
I like the new career mode features, training is laborious, but moving the right way. Transfers have improved, but still too easy in everything except loaning players out that you don’t wish to offer an option to buy on. The new youth player section is good. Could do with adding sim able youth/u23 games to allow you to get games into them and get sharpness for squad players. The sharpness/fitness thing is good but very hard to balance.
Lack of 3rd kits is ridiculous. I can’t believe that in 2020 they still haven’t managed to offer different netting styles, textures and types to match the various versions on offer in real life, nearly all exactly the same. Pitches don’t look quite right.
    All in all, pathetic.
I sincerely hope this is because they’ve piled all their efforts into next gen and amazement is around the corner, as things stand, I want my money back.

More in FIFA 21
