FIFA 21 Title Update #8 Available For PC, Coming Soon For Consoles - Patch Notes

FIFA 21 title update #8 is scheduled to arrive this week. As usual, the patch will be available for PC users first, then released a few days later for console users. As always, we will provide an update when it’s available.

UPDATE (1-12) The patch is available today for PC users on Origin/Steam.

With that said, here are the patch notes.

Gameplay

Made the following changes:

  • Made several adjustments to the Team Press D-Pad Tactic.
    • Decreased the amount of time the Team Press D-Pad Tactic can be active for, before requiring cooldown, from 20 seconds to 15 seconds.
    • Once Team Press is requested, its effect takes 2 seconds to activate.
    • In situations where the defending team is using Team Press and recovers possession, Team Press will not automatically remain active on the following loss of possession.
  • Made several adjustments to Stepover and Reverse Step Over Skill Moves.
    • Both Skill Moves are no longer considered Easy Skill Moves and will be less effective when chained together while moving.
    • The animations for both Skill Moves have been slowed down.
    • Decreased player transition speed when exiting either Skill Move at forward angles.

Addressed the following issues:

  • The goalkeeper sometimes gets stuck to the net geometry and is unable to put the ball into play, resulting in matches not finishing within the expected time.
  • After a defender positioned themselves in front of the ball carrier following a heavy touch, the defender sometimes did not contest the ball.
  • Improved referee penalty kick logic in situations where the goalkeeper dives at the ball carrier’s feet.
  • Improved referee logic when making decisions in breakaway tackling situations outside of the box.
  • When a goalkeeper moved then stood still during a penalty kick, they could sometimes deflect the ball into their own net when it was hit directly at them.
    • This does not affect other types of potential deflections that could occur.
  • In situations where the ball carrier would start a shooting animation, but the shot was canceled in time, the defender could sometimes perform an unintended blocking animation.

FIFA Ultimate Team

Made the following changes:

  • In online matches, players will no longer see their opponent’s equipped Ball Item, they will instead always see their own.
  • Co-Op Squad Battles matches can now be paused during gameplay by either player.
  • Co-Op Squad Battles matches no longer have a pause limit.

Addressed the following issues:

  • After claiming FUT Coins from Team Event Objectives, the overall FUT Coin total did not increase until FUT was exited and re-entered.
    • The correct amount of FUT Coins was being claimed, this issue only impacted when the display of the overall total would increase.
  • When a previously locked Objective group was unlocked, it continued to display as locked until the player exited and re-entered FUT.
  • The Co-Op widget could stop responding after the Pricing filter was used during a Transfer Market search.
  • After engaging with the Recommended Consumable Search option found in the Radial Menu, not all menu navigation button callouts were functioning as expected.
  • If a Co-Op Lobby guest left the Lobby while the Host was opening a pack, the Host’s menu background would incorrectly display.
  • When previewing Goal Music, Chant, Anthem, and Crowd Items in My Stadium, the audio would reset if the previewed Item was selected.
  • The progress UI would animate every time the Community Event screen was visited.
  • Updated Competitor Mode description.
  • The Club name was incorrectly displayed when viewing Player Ratings in the pause menu.
  • Updated the FUT Champions Qualification Points icon displayed on the Weekend League details screen.
  • Trophies displayed in Milestone Objectives were not facing in the correct direction.
  • Updated background on the pop up that displays when choosing a Season reward that has multiple choices.
  • When a Community Event was completed, the UI did not display correctly.
  • Addressed a potential stability issue that could occur in a Co-Op lobby.
  • Repetitive commentary could occur during some corner kicks.

Career Mode

Made the following change:

  • The potential quality of Youth Players is now more aligned with the general football region that they come from.

Addressed the following issues:

  • Player OVRs could remain unrealistically high in their 30s, resulting in players retiring seemingly at their peak.
  • Addressed further instances of Strikers taking too long to be retrained as Center Forwards.

VOLTA FOOTBALL

Addressed the following issues:

  • Some hairstyles did not display correctly.
  • Updated a typo on the message that displays when discarding items.

Pro Clubs

Addressed the following issue:

  • A Virtual Pro’s customized boot colors did not always save.

General, Audio, and Video

Made the following changes:

  • Updated badges, kits, 2D portraits, stadiums, and ad boards.
  • Added 34 new Starheads and updated 29 existing Starheads which will be activated at a later date through a Server Release.
    • Stay tuned to the EA SPORTS FIFA Tracker to learn when these Starheads will become active.

Addressed the following issues:

  • The Nike Serie A TIM Merlin 2019 Hi Vis ball did not display a shadow in game.
  • The inactivity timer did not start while the Origin overlay was active in some online matches.

  1. Still waiting for a fix to the July 1 potential drop in scouted players. Biggest bug in the game right now. Frustrating to have players go from PTBS to at the club since every time i start a new season.
    please fix the goalkeepers - they are as dumb as a spade..
    They should remain standing in a 1v1 situation.. otherwise just do a chip or a placed high ball and you score..

    I played two games, and it feels smoother.. can´t tell why.. I am on WC...
    The GK are still not better on 1vs1, though they make decent saves fromlong distance shots
    nam4u sounds good so far, how about the midfielders who are going back now and are tracking and covering the space better than before ..?
    has it gotten a little better now that the cpu now tracks and covers better?

    nope, haven´t seen that.. I also ahve a problem with my defenders moving to much forward.. I can set the fullbacks to 0 in the sliders, that does not seem to have any effects... nor does the setting in the formation ( telling the defenders to stay back) help anything... they all move in formation into the oponents half... weird and not realistic...

    Worst goalkeeping i have ever seen in fifa....hit the ball stronger and inside the 11metre box and they are like ghosts...like 5 year olds afraid of ball.

    Are they ever going to fix where created managers wear a kit on the side lines when it's cold or raining?
    I believe it was fixed but didn't fix saves created before that update was released (not sure which one). I started an Arsenal CM in December on PS5 and have not seen it. I'm in January in my career so plenty of bad weather matches.
    From my understanding, EA doesn't think there is anything wrong with the Defenders not tracking back and defending. There's an enormous thread in the Bugs forums and a single generic reply from EA. It's also not listed in their Bug tracker. You can thank the FUT and Online crowd for that.
    Midfielders still don't help in defense.
    And also, I don't know for you, but for me the team pressing doesn't work at all anymore. I ask for it, and my players don't move at all. They stand still lilke they were before I ask for the pressing.
    That game is so broken, and the only one who could fix it keeps breaking it.
    The 2 second delay of the team press quick tactic was an intentional change in this update. It sucks and because by the time your players push up to press the situation can change drastically. I get that there needs to be some risk but through 5-6 matches I've basically abandoned it against the cpu.
    I don't play online and don't follow that conversation so I don't know what the reasoning is behind it. I know EA has made several changes to the duration and cool down timer, which are fine as it shouldn't be something a team can do for extended periods at least not without getting gassed. However, I can't imagine what the rationale is for such a long delay.
    Even after 2 sec they barely move. And that delay makes no sense at all in a football and sport context. The concept of team pressing is to quickly press to quickly get the ball back. The point is to go fast. Not start with a 2 second delay.
    EA "fixed" a mess with a mess. They are just drowning in their own mess. Some other things should have fixed about it, but certainly not adding a delay.
    Does anybody else have a feeling that the first gane after reloading a save is the one the AI absolutely positively won't let you win in career mode?
    No matter, how much worse the CPU team is I play against, no matter how good the current form of my players is, no matter which tactics I apply, it is next to impossible to score, and the CPU controlled team passes and scores at will.

    In my experience it's a bit more random than this. Sometimes after a save the CPU is insanely easy and I destroy them for a few games in a row. Sometimes it's the opposite like you said and I get destroyed. This has definitely been a FIFA trademark for awhile now though.
