FIFA 20 game update 1.16 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, adding CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana. It also addresses some issues in gameplay, FUT and VOLTA Football.

The team is also adding 17 updated star heads, which are scheduled to arrive shortly after an upcoming server update. Check out the patch notes and details below.

Lead historic teams from across the continent like River Plate, Boca Juniors, Flamengo, Racing Club, C.A. Independiente, Millonarios, and Universidad Católica to the pinnacle of South American club football in the new CONMEBOL Libertadores Tournament and Kick Off modes.

The heated competition of CONMEBOL action comes alive in Tournament and Kick Off mode with two new stadiums, authentic match presentation, branding, pitch props, and new headscans that immerse you in the sights and sounds of South American club football.

A new Conmebol Libertadores Tournament Mode will let you take some of the most famous and historic clubs in world football like River Plate, Boca Juniors, Flamengo, Racing Club, C.A. Independiente, Millonarios, Fluminense, and Universidad Católica all the way from the Group Stage to the Final.

In Kick Off you’ll be able to enjoy the Conmebol Libertadores, Conmebol Sudamericana, and two-legged Conmebol Recopa, while Career Mode adds all three tournaments allowing you to play with authentic competition structures and match presentation as you lead your club to glory.

Plus, FIFA 20 Ultimate Team will give you the ultimate connection to Conmebol Libertadores with custom content including select special items and themed in-game content as you assemble your dream squad in the game’s most popular mode.

Additionally, experience a branded Tournament Hub complete with Dynamic News, as well as the latest tournament standings, fixtures, and results to keep up to date with everything happening throughout the competition.
  • Enjoy the unrivalled atmosphere of a CONMEBOL Libertadores Final, the gripping tension of a Semi-Final, and energy of the Group Stage with new match types in Kick Off Mode. Or play out a fantasy match up against any other club available in FIFA 20 through the Libertadores Exhibition Match.
  • Step into the world of CONMEBOL Libertadores, CONMEBOL Sudamericana, and CONMEBOL Recopa in Career Mode, as players shape the vision of their club and lead them to glory. Play with authentic CONMEBOL competition structures, branding, stadium dressings, and immersive dynamic news that complements the new Player Morale and Manager Creation systems.

  1. Am I doing something wrong? I have the update. I can see the tournament option I see the official licensed teams but then when I go to career mode River Plate and Boca are no longer licensed. Will the tournament be in the career mode just with some of the teams no longer licensed or am I mistaken?

FIFA only has the rights to them outside of career and tournament modes.

I like it so far. It's nice to have Boca and River back in the game, even though it's limited to COPA. Carlos Tevez scored a hat trick in my first game. :headbang2
I’m...underwhelmed. It’s a great addition to the franchise and I’m sure EA grabbed it in order to get into the South American market that is otherwise more fond of the competing franchise.
I just don’t have a lot of interest in South America’s tournament. I can’t see the real games (even on my decent cable package), and outside of a few Brazilian teams, Boca and River Plate I’m not all that familiar with club football on that continent.
The licensing is kind of odd: as noted Boca, etc appear in the new mode but not everywhere.
Besides that, it looks like some technical issues popped up in this update.
