eSports Boxing Club: Latest News and Info on New Boxing Game

eSports Boxing Club first came to our attention back in April, and Prince is here running through some of the latest info on the upcoming boxing game. Development studio Steel City Interactive also recently released some of the first in-game assets for the game, which is shown in the video as well.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one for sure as we have multiple big-time boxing fans on staff who have been dying for a new boxing game to hit the market.

  1. We need a Boxing game.. Am tired that EA only looks for their benefits to make a game as a monopoly like wha they DID with MADDEN  and UFC I think is time for us to make a change and we should be the one letting them know whats games we want.. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.. I WONT BE BUYING UFC OR MADDEN THIS YEAR F*** YOU EA..
A new article reports the goal is to eventually reach 150 boxers via DLC/seasons. If this game can deliver on that, it'd be amazing.
I hope it has a lot of creation slots. A person could having a boxing game with a top 15 in each division

Hoping for a solid engine because the pc modding potential is huge.

Modding only works when you have a community of creators. I don't see that on here, I see people trying to sell CAB rosters on here.
FNC is currently playable and moddable on PC and pretty much all the responses I've gotten back on several forums is "where can I download those CABs". Guys like me are not going to stick around and create for leech communities. You I think were the only one trying to actually help do something and I appreciate your effort.
Anyways, I do sincerely hope this game delivers on its promises, I am really eager to see some gameplay action.

I think the prob w modding fnc is that it was on an emulator. So it was a very niche medium. I think a new game optimized for pc will get a lot of people excited, if it’s good.
I stopped trying to mod fnc because it just kept crashing. And even when it worked, it wasn’t playing the same as on my ps3.

Fans are holding an indie company to the standards of major AAA companies with billions at their disposal. I respect what Steel City is doing.
I highly doubt this game will be worse than FNC. At the least it will be as good. Although its an indie studio, FNC is almost 10 years old. With access to better tech that can help streamline game making (Unreal Engine 4), a small studio can get more done than it could 10 years ago.
The graphics have also been outsourced to a studio that has worked on AAA games. With 2+ years of development, increased use of patches and DLC, I believe this will be a good game. Its also releasing on PC first, which will probably be more of a beta version, before it hits consoles.
We'll most likely see a finished product mid-late 2021. I highly optimistic about what that finished product can be.

So then how do you explain people modding Skate, NCAA14, RDR and TLOU on the same emulator? Its also worth noting the problems you experienced aren't shared by everybody. The game is playable on PC and night and day in terms of performance. I have actually finally retired the PS3 which was used to play one game (FNC) over the last 5 years.
To me the problem here is obvious, we don't have a community like the fanbases of those games I mentioned. I remember when FNC first released someone created a forum for CABs and we only had like 3 people contributing. So this lack of enthusiasm from a creator standpoint isn't just due to a lack of boxing games recently. Its always been like this.
I also want to mention, the fact there are threads of people trying to sell CAB roster updates on here is really disgusting. We need to get rid of clowns like that and inspire a community effort. I tried to do the latter and unfortunately it seems like I failed.

Yes, I created that site. It was called Fight Night Creations. I think a website would do great because fans were starved so long for a boxing videogame.

Thank you for bringing this up. I never seen that thread until I read your post.
People like that need to be banned and removed from any community. What a joke to try and sell what isn’t even his work.

You’re fps is better on ps3? Maybe I need to give it another shot. I’ve been busy modding nba2k, but I made some cool trunks I never got to put In game. I can send them to you if you ever create a Trinidad or spence.

I’m hoping this game can have the same trajectory as the golf club. Very successful small studio game that gets bought out by a major studio. Would help with licensing and other assets. Can’t believe they signed Frazier. That scanning company does really good work from what I found.

Did not think this game would get anywhere near some of the bigger names they are getting.
    - Joe Frazier
    - Calzaghe
    - Sergio Martinez
    - gatti
    -ricky Hatton
    - Enzo Maccarinelli
    - Micky Ward
    This is a good sign.

I’m curious by how well the fighters move. They look pretty good in that video. One area that’s never been nailed in a game is foot movement.

I expect info on gameplay to ramp up soon. Its aiming for a December 2020 release on PC. Hoping we'll find out soon.

With Steel City being UK based, I think its only a matter of time before Eddie Hearn gets involved somehow. He's been looking for a gaming platform to showcase his product.
AJ in a UFC game is nice, but I wouldn't be surprised if a DAZN DLC popped up in ESports Boxing Club.

Actually at the moment I'm not trying to promote Round4Round . I just wanted to clear up information.
I'm a boxing gaming fan above all. This why the Steel City Esports team respect my passion. I was the one pushing for both companies not locking boxers in contracts. I said it creates small rosters. When I talk to boxers I tell them to be in every boxing game being made and push them so content sells the game.
I'm still Poeticdrink2u first and EA couldn't put me in check. I want a deep and sim boxing videogame.

    - Sign with promoters (pros and cons for each)
    - training camps
    - multiple belts
This all sounds amazing. I really hope they can pull this off.
IMO, if they get Tyson, then they should rebrand the game Mike Tyson Boxing to really get casual fans onboard.
But I understand why it's called eBoxing. They want to create an entire, organic online boxing universe with champs, rankings, etc. That'll be pretty cool if they can pull that off.

They are doing all the right things in terms of modes and creating a universe - but - for me it's all about gameplay - it could be red vs blue 1 match exhibitions and that's it, if the gameplay is good enough to MERIT all those other things. I could play a game for hours and hours if they make it an enjoyable experience in the ring. FNC had good boxers and boxershare, story, career, venues etc., but the gameplay didn't stick. It didn't FEEL like boxing.
I'm not saying they are doing this, but the problem with STARTING with real boxers is that the concern is to make them translate convincingly to the game. But in boxing, since you are literally in control of everything (unlike 2k where it adds to the immersion), that doesn't work. You need to nail 1 v 1 boxing generically. If you can do that, the rest is gravy. For example, would i like to box floyd with all his tendencies? maybe, but I'd rather have great generic matches 90% of the time.
Don't get me wrong, having a stable of real fighters is AWESOME - but it has nothing to do with making great gameplay.
I really wish this game came out for example with just one or 2 people working on it! https://www.facebook.com/MuayThaiGame/
So although I'm excited to see gameplay, I'm not going to get REALLY excited until I see something that resembles boxing. It should be hard to land clean shots and also easy to avoid big shots imo. No rockem sockem, should be a tad messy, and have natural clinches. I also really hope there are zero health bars or stamina as well. It should be obvious when you're playing (just like UFC undisputed 2009 proved at launch) I'm not against different styles like pressure volume vs power counter with the limitations of each (pressure lacks power, power lacks ability to throw 100 punches nad not gas out). But just regualr boxing punching, head movement, missing, tie-ups, movement, corners etc, HAS to be nailed 1 vs 1 generically or else why bother
I didn't know that game even existed. It looked really polished too.
    What ever happened to it?
    This KO was beautiful:

EDIT: Thanks a lot allBThere! Now I'm down a rabbit hole watching videos and reading up on Ramon Dekkers.
His KO of Coban Lookchaomaesaitong was unreal.
And Coban was a beast by the sounds of things too. Even as he's getting pummeled in the corner, he unleashes a left-hook that nearly floors Ramon. Unreal.

It's about option and realistic gameplay. They said they are making a realistic game and it should have boxers tendencies, mannerisms, strengths and weaknesses. Realistic gameplay is what we see boxers do in real-life; no watered down system.
If the game is going have a lot of features, deep presentation and creation modes, I'm more than happy with slightly above average gameplay that can be tweeked and patched.
ESBC has touted a fully physics based system. So even if that core gameplay is flawed out of the gate, it can be easily improved with feedback because the foundation is solid.
Adding features/presentation appears to be more difficult (rights, licenses, commentary, programming new modes).
Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Boxer tendencies is something we haven't seen in a boxing game in a long while. Most don't have them.
Victorious Boxers is really the only series that did this well.
Every fighter seemed to have different styles and obvious skills or attributes.
One guy was tall with a long jab. But no power. He would absolutely use his length to keep you at bay. Getting inside and "putting water in the basement" was an absolute must.
Another opponent was slow, but had a great chin and crushing power.
You really had to get in and out and watch his right hand.
I recall flooring him several times, but he always got up. And if I made one mistake, I'd be on the canvas.
These are the types of differences we need to see in a new boxing game.

Hearns would be an awesome addition, just finished working on a pencil sketch of him earlier today. Povetkin's a quality guy for the HW division, too, roster's looking nice from the glimpses we've gotten so far and if we can make/import a large number of created fighters, this could really work out well.

Especially since its unrealistic to expect this company to pay for so many licenses.

If they open it up to allow for community mods/customization
    Oh man!

That's all I've ever asked for. I think there is a huge market not only in Boxing, but in Football and pro Wrestling too.
Completely indy unlicensed, total sim community supported game
Kinda fire pro, the golf club type thing. Man... The only rival Madden has for crappy legacy coded junk in WWE 2k. And it's been what, 12 years since Fight Night?

The PC community is going to have fun with this one.

Hell yeah and it comes out in December for steam first so glad I got a pc man and once it drops for next gen consoles then I’ll be able to get it for that also
Please steel city add Errol Spence ,teofimo , devin Haney , shakur Stevenson, Ryan Garcia, canelo , gervante Davis and the charlo twins PLEASE. Hope eventually we get this or at least give the PC community the files to the game to mod these people in and make animations but one step at a time

I’m sure they would love to, but these guys are probably a lot of money to put in games.

Yeah I know it’s wishful thinking and I gotta be a realist about a boxing game since I know what it takes to sign these fighters . Here’s hoping 🤞🏼

Yeah, I made a metric ton of boxers in Fire Pro, it's great for simming some quick fights if you're not looking for anything too realistic. Being able to create moves was a next level addition, I've made stuff like Ali's Anchor Punch(and someone else made the Shuffle), Tyson's hook-upper combo(and yes, his ear bite), a Mayweather shoulder roll, and some other more generic stuff that's gone a huge way in making fighters feel more authentic. Combine that with the logic system where you can program how they fight down to minute details, and it works well for me.

I'm hoping for the ability to create a lot of boxers too. Like up to 200 or something to flesh out the divisions.

I want over 200 per division....

That would cost tons of money wouldnt you think? I dont think 4he ufc games have that many per division. Or even the old fight night.

No, not at all! Why would giving players more slots for created boxers cost a lot?!? I remember when I was an EA Fight Night Senior Moderator on the EA forums I did my research and knew the developers could add more slots. They tried to lies about it when making Fight Night Round 4. I showed proof it can be done. I think they upped the total to 150 in total from I think 70.
This is why game company hate that the adults play their games don't accept everything like children; especially hardcore sports fans.
Who’s funding this game ? This is a very VERY ambitious boxing game with amazing mechanics I’m very curious on how the hell ten and steel city is making big moves like this. I love it man. I just hope they have some more American boxers in the game eventually.
How can fans help fund this game ? I wouldn’t mind dropping a few hundreds here and there for the development of this game since they are being transparent with the fans and how they are putting TRUE HARDCORE boxing love into this game

I actually had a few conversations(one zoom) with the Creative Director Ash Habib. They had a lot of sponsors & investors help get this game going. I like their vision. I'm for any and all boxing games that gives us a realistic boxing videogame. The more the better.
I can’t wait to see this game in action. The only thing that looks a bit off to me is the graphics on the fighters in the big arenas. Something just looks off

I get the feeling there’s some big financial backers behind the scenes here. For an Indie game, the fighter scan tech alone is DOUGH. And I’m really happy this dev team is getting the funding. Because the game is far exceeding my expectations

I remember when Eddie Hearn who’s a wealthy boxing promoter said he wanted to bring back a boxing game and he was looking for a company to make it. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not behind this

Really looking forward to seeing some gameplay. Everything about this game is looking/sounding really good at this point.
I was just watching a simulation of Wilder vs Tyson using FN and one thing was super apparent; fighters didn't have different personalities.
Tyson dropped Wilder and the Bronze Bomber was on shaky legs. Tyson just stood back and let Bomber come to him and eventually finished him with a body shot.
The real Tyson would have jumped all over him.
It's these little AI tendencies that I'm hoping we see in a new boxing game.
I'm beating a dead horse here, but in Victorious Boxers there were so many different styles, forcing you to adjust and adapt.
I never felt like that in the FN games. Hopefully eSports Boxing will offer that nuance.
