  1. Thanks man!
    Good to see it eventually!
Hard to see what had changed from such a quick shot filled trailer.
Hopefully we get a release date tonight
Yeah I'll need to play it cause I can't really tell much from this trailer. Its cool I guess.. I will need to play it to feel the gameplay changes. Already miss the spoilers, that was fun.
Hopefully the site will give us some more info. Surprised they did not even have the release date in this one.
    Standing guillotine is in.
This is probably a big assumption but there is no way to recreate Masvidal's Askren knockout without changing the knockout/damage system quite a bit from 3-to-4. So them highlighting that could mean something...or nothing.
Pretty sure Kimbo is still in that backyard scene. I like that.

Although we don't want to get too drawn in to a trailer, it looked like the knee doesn't KO him in it! He takes a backstep
Excited about the "mixed" styles, probably integrated into career mode. Gfx potentially look worse then before, but that might be because of the quality of the vid. The backyard environment looks horrible as it seems almost photo-realistic but the fighters are not.
Did spot some new takedown moves which is always great.
It's hard to tell from small clips like that but here's some random takeaways. Don't read too much into them.
    - Bigger emphasis on fighter individuality? They showed a lot of clips of Izzy doing his gestures in real life and then in-game.
    - Spinning backfist and Conor's 2 piece combo after sways imply that maybe you can follow up sways with different strikes now?
    - After Conor's two piece he throws a spin kick. Maaaybe it was meant to showcase that the combo system is more akin to UFC 2 than 3???
    - They showcased a lot of different strikes such as question mark kick to probably highlight new improved animations.
    - Lots of close ups of characters getting hit. It could possibly refer to more dynamic hit animations.
    - When Khabib goes for the slam the opponent's head hits the cage instead of the ground. Maybe cage is a bigger factor in grappling? It's hard to say.
I'm worried that overhauled grappling means simplified for casuals and therefore no big leap forward. Hope I'm wrong though. Looking forward to trying it out in the beta.
Well my biggest hopes for the game are much improved grappling/ground game/submissions, ragdoll knockdowns/KO's, and was hoping for Pride mode (although that looks bleak now at best) and cage interaction.

    — Valentina was definitely hitting hammerfists during an armbar attempt.
    — I saw a standing guillotine, I think from Hooker.

This makes me very excited to grapple + chain wrestle with guys like khabib and Colby

Man thank you for this bro. Love this dude sounds like they listened on so many levels. Geoff and Martial mind are goats lol can’t wait play with the changes myself
I know it's only a short clip to go on but.lol it looks exactly like the game we got now, with stuff that quite honestly should've been patched into this one.
Waiting to be "blown away" because I guarantee I'm not going to be. People are impressed about things that should've been in the first game.

Really? We dont even know all of the information but so far we have
    Chain wrestling
    New submission system
    GnP overhaul
    Dynamic cage interaction
    An entire clinch overhaul
    A better tuned ragdoll
    An emphasis on customization
    And kumite/Backyard brawls

Don’t be stuck on the past , if it can be right as of right now then I’m all for it besides UFC 2 is a completely different game from the 3rd and under went a huge face lift.
Truth of the matter is is that quality have been going up with each game and now it looks and sounds like they are pushing the envelope. I will admit the trailer wasn’t the best but it was something and Geoff interacting will give us an idea on what to expect. We wanted info so we got it be grateful

Can't fairly judge anything from the trailer but I'm excited to play. I wonder if the AIs have been adjusted or tweaked.

That would be a yes. Skynet and guys like Aero and Aydin did some AMAZING work on the AIs this year. One of the things I'm looking most forward to in the final version.

I just noticed they have DC's signature single leg high crotch takedown where he flips his opponent through the air, he hits on Hendo in the trailer. Looked very nice. Also BALD DC.
Skip to 1:07 on the official trailer to see it

Yh i noticed that right away. Thats one i've been posting on here for a while. To give DC his signature high single leg. Glad they finally gave him that. Keeping fingers crossed that he has the one on the cage too that he did to Gus.

Sounds good. Hope they worked on making certain AI's striking more true to life too. So guys like DC wont be chanelling their inner Anderson Silva anymore lol. I feel like the AI was just a bit too counter savy in UFC 3 and made certain fighters not strike like themselves irl.
Also underrated...The Who playing over the trailer.
If you've never been to a live show, they play a montages featuring that song before the main card in the arena.

Good to hear from a GC.
Is the combo system back to the previous UFC games or will it be like the last one where all fighters had different inputs to pull a combo?
I dont know what everyone else is seeing in terms of gnp overhaul and animation changes, maybe I have been playing so long that i can recognize all the reused animations even from this short clip.
Ill start with positives, I like standing guillotine, takedown to clinch transitions and some of the aesthetic choices (feels gamey but i think its a fun way to bring people into the crowd). Would highly prefer different fight orgs. Some of the new character models like DC and Conor look better, others are reused.
    Negatives...
Looks like gnp still has that weird impact where it feels like you’re punching air instead of a real person (head barely moves during tko sequences, this was a late addition to ea ufc 3 so they had that excuse but please tell me this is not a final product animation for 4). The new ankle pick looks freaking terrible, it looks like there is no resistance at all in that animation. Everyone looks like they punch and kick the same, again like ea ufc 3.
Its a small clip so i wont really hold much to it, hoping for the best.

90% of this stuff should've been in the last couple games.
Ground and pound has sucked all 3 games.
I am not easily impressed by things that should've been in the first 3 games.
I will break though and say I AM intrigued about this whole clinch system.
Just skeptical, considering this is EA and it seems like we are intentionally drip fed features that we should've had years ago.
You guys are going to have a heart attack if they tell us we finally have a proper cage grappling system, knowing EA they are probably saving that to wow you guys for the 5th EA UFC installment. LOL
Not to mention the stand up animations all look the same as the last game, just as terrible as they've always been.
Something interesting is that Geoff on Twitter said that there are no clinch denials. You can only avoid being clinched by intercepting with strikes or using movement.

Sounds good. I will use it to stop spam. Especially against those that constantly pressure without pausing.

Fr, I've always felt a system like this would detract those guys who litterally stand in elbow range the entire fight

Looks really good guys. You have backyard brawls and Bloodsport arenas. EA is listening to you guys. Be happy with what they are doing. Imagine creating something and having people just trash it. Stop doing that. Keep being positive. I know it is a negative sport, but look for the good.

Maybe but if so I predict crying about “footwork spam”.

Last time we asked for circling/strafing like UD3, they said they worried about runners. So I think they have a solution for that too. They said sticky corners.
If they add strafing, I doubt it, they could make cutting off the cage easier than circling away. Or make circling into leg kicks more devastating.
    Gion
Ah yes. "Runners" as they call anyone who wants to use machida effectively

I think what would help is having longer windows for checking leg kicks when standing still, and shorter windows if your feet aren’t planted. That way people could actually use leg kicks more effectively to deal with more evasive fighters. Perhaps a similar philosophy could be applied to blocking in general.

When Khabib goes for the slam the opponent's head hits the cage instead of the ground. Maybe cage is a bigger factor in grappling? It's hard to say.

I can't imagine it wouldn't be. Khabib is doing for wrestling what Stephen Curry did for three-point shooting. And just like it was reflected in NBA 2K, I'd expect wrestling to get that same love, especially against the cage like Khabib (and really a lot of great wrestlers) loves to do.

Anybody who fights or trains for fighting, is this a thing? Where clinch denials just don't exist, and you just throw strikes or evade to avoid them?

Rewatch DC vs gus, denying clinch exchanges isnt as easy as it functions in UFC 3. Guys fall into clinch all the time, for this game moving your head feet and intercepting with strikes are the ways to avoid the clinch, a pretty accurate representation without hand fighting

As gion said it’s not really how it is in UFC 3. Waiting for someone to pass so you can deny them isn’t really a thing. There’s a lot trying to pass by both opponents, alot of trying to control the wrists ,punches to stop your opponent from trying to pass or setting up a submission and a lot more. Im trained in wrestling and jiu jitsu but I stopped awhile back to focus on my boxing and Muay Thai so I’m a little rusty tbh so I’m not super qualified to talk about that aspect of grappling but what I do know is that grappling isn’t like it is in UFC 3 especially denials FOR SURE.
From what I remember sparring mma dude the grappling is sometimes fast pace ,both trying to pass each other , a lot of trying to strike and using those misses to pass ,wrist control, I use smoother my opponent by covering his breathing with my chest or hands and man it’s just a lot to get into and complex but like I said real grappling is nothing like ufc 3 and can most definitely be improved upon with more innovative ideas.
