Midfielders create chances, control the game’s pace and tempo, and transition play from defense to attack. They are the backbone of any team. Some midfielders contribute to goals, some help out defensively, and some elites can even do both. In EA FC 25, just like in real life, there are hundreds of world-class midfielders. Here are the best midfielders in the game.

Paulo Dybala

Paulo Dybala is a veteran of the sport at this point in his career, and yet he is still among the top players in his position. Dybala is a central attacking midfielder for AS Roma in the Italian Serie A and the Argentina national team. He is best suited for the shadow striker role. As a shadow striker, Dybala primarily operates just behind the striker, meaning he contributes more goals and assists than a typical midfielder. His ball-handling stats are incredible; with 5-star skill moves, excellent dribbling, and ball-control stats, Dybala is brilliant at beating opposing players with the ball at his feet. Dybala can score, pass, and dribble with the best of ’em. However, the caveat is his free-kick stats. Paulo Dybala has 84 rated shot power, 86 long shots, 87 free kick accuracy, and 89 curve, making him lethal from mid-short range free-kicks.

Declan Rice

Declan Rice is an English central-defensive midfielder who plays for Arsenal FC in the Premier League and the England national team. As a defensive midfielder, his primary role is helping the defenders and ensuring his team controls the midfield. That said, Rice is a brilliantly well-rounded player who can fulfill several midfield roles. He has incredible passing and physical stats; his 92 stamina means he’s always at his best from the first whistle to the final whistle. He can provide assists, he’s instrumental in set-piece plays(whether delivering or receiving the cross), and with 84-rated shot power and 82-rated long shots, he can even contribute a few shots and a few goals from the edge of the box. Rice can do about anything in the midfield, and his 87 overall rating puts him among the top midfielders in EA FC 25.

Jamal Musiala

Jamal Musiala is one of the most exciting young midfield talents in soccer. He is excellent at dribbling, scoring, and long and short passing, and he is relatively fast and skilled with the ball at his feet. Musiala is only 21, meaning he has so much room to grow. Despite his youth, his 94 dribbling, 94 agility, 93 balance, 89 attack positioning, and Shadow Striker++ traits rank among the highest of any player in the game.

Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva plays for Manchester City and the Portugal national team. He is a skilled central attacking midfielder with incredible passing, dribbling, and play-making skills. Silva is also incredibly versatile, capable of playing as a central midfielder and a winger. With his goal-scoring acumen and hold-up playability, he could also fulfill the role of a false-9 striker. He is an incredible elite soccer player with great versatility who is in his prime and, as such, one of the best players in EA FC 25.

Florian Wirtz

Wirtz is a German international who plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. At just 21 years old, his 89 overall rating puts him among the game’s highest-rated midfielders and the highest-rated players. His 92 potential rating is also very exciting for career-mode players. His skill set and playstyles make him an ideal partner for an elite pacey striker who can run onto perfectly timed through balls to convert chances.

Federico Valverde

Valverde is the 25-year-old Uruguayan midfield maestro who plays for Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga. His playstyle is simple; he is a specialist in chance creation. With the playmaker++ trait, 87-rated short passing, 88-rated long passing, and 86-rated vision, Valverde is a master at picking out incisive passes. He also impresses with his pace, as he has 91-rated sprint speed and 84-rated acceleration, making him one of the fastest midfielders in the game. Federico can also contribute a few long-range goals with his 91-rated shot power and 89-rated long shots. 

Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard’s 88 overall rating puts him among the highest-rated players in the Premier League in FC 25. The Arsenal captain is an excellent dribbler and passer of the ball. His 5-star skill moves, 91 ball control, 89 dribbling, 90 reactions, and 87 composure make him almost impossible to dispossess. Odegaard shines the brightest when he’s distributing passes. His 91-rated vision, 89-rated long passing, and 91-rated short passing put him among some of the best passers in the game. Paired with some pacey wingers with excellent scoring ability, Odegaard’s passing and dribbling stats are unstoppable. 

Kevin DeBruyne

Manchester City and Belgium International captain Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best active soccer players in the world. He may not be the strongest or the fastest player on the pitch, but he makes up for it with his passing ability. As a central midfielder in a possession-focused tactical setup, DeBruyne pulls all the strings from his position in the midfield. From the flow of the passes to the pace of the match, everything goes through De Bruyne.  A player who can dictate a game the way he can is exceptional, and that’s precisely what De Bruyne is: extraordinary. 

Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham is arguably the most exciting young player in Soccer. A truly versatile central player, the English Galactico can play almost any midfield position and role and even pop up front and drift into the wings to contribute goals and stretch out the play. At just 21, Bellingham has an overall rating of 90; only one midfielder is higher rated than him. With his ability to fill so many midfield roles, high overall rating, and incredible stats, Bellingham is one of the best midfielders in FC 25.

Rodri

Manchester City and Portugal’s central defensive midfielder Rodri was the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner. That means that not only is he the best midfielder in the world, but he is also the best player. In EA FC 25, he has a rating of 91, which is the joint highest overall in the game. Rodri is incredibly well-rounded, capable of elite passing, incredible long shots, and expert game reading. However, he is best utilized as a rock in midfield, capable of holding opposing midfielders at bay, winning back and keeping possession, and standing in as the first line of defense when the opposition mounts an attack.
