This news came right after it was announced that Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani had won New York’s mayoral election. For many democratic supporters, it was a historic day in the city as they rejoiced at the results of the mayoral race. However, Donald Trump’s administration quickly reminded New Yorkers that he is still the president of the United States.
The official White House account posted a modified logo of the New York Knicks on X on Tuesday. Instead of the logo, reading the New York Knicks like it should, it reads “Trump is your president.” It seems that Trump’s administration doesn’t want the city to forget about the presidency amidst all of the drama surrounding the New York mayoral election.
The Knicks Were Dragged Into This Controversy
It was certainly an odd choice from Donald Trump’s administration to use a modified logo of the New York Knicks to get their point across. What it seems to have done is drag the professional basketball team into this political sphere.
It has also angered quite a few New Yorkers for using their team’s logo and trying to throw shade on their new mayor. Some fans would then modify the logo for themselves and decide to troll the administration as well in the replies.
Others would comment that the Knicks wouldn’t appreciate being pushed into this situation, with some fans asking them to sue the White House.
Many of Mamdani’s avid supporters also came in the replies to defend their new mayor. It looks like quite a few New Yorkers have a lot of love to give their new mayor and are willing to step in and support him in any situation.

Zohran Mamdani is in love with New York after its people helped him win the city’s mayoral race. The democratic nominee won the post with over 50% of the vote going to him. Mamdani is now set to go into the history books as the first-ever Muslim mayor of New York City.
He also remains in favor of the New York Knicks as well and openly shows his admiration for the iconic team. His team even aired a campaign that used a version of the Knicks logo, replaced with his name. However, the Knicks organization didn’t care for it and sent him a cease and desist letter. Regardless, Mamdani’s love for his team remains, and for the city as well.
