Big Dog Program - All-Star Tony Perez

Diamond Dynasty - Second Ratings Update, Big Dog Program, and More

It seems like ratings update days are turning into some of the most jam packed for content drops, and I am okay with this. On top of the May Monthly Awards Program starting, we have the second ratings update, a Big Dog Program, and a new Headliners card. Let’s quickly run through all the new stuff.

Headliners Set 13 All-Star Don Mattingly

I’m just going to come out and say this card looks like a bit of a bust. Mattingly cards are notoriously tricky to get behind because contact-based 1B just don’t get a lot of play. Mattingly being a great fielder and contact hitter would be great at many positions, but most people want power at 1B. He does play 3B and the corner outfield spots, but 64 power against RHP is just hard to get past. He does have 116 vision and should be able to rotate to 3B easily enough, but this card is not going to be in high demand.

Here are his ratings:

Headliners Set 13 - All-Star Don Mattingly

The odds on Headliners packs to pull a diamond are 1:10 (as always), albeit that diamond might not be All-Star Don Mattingly. In addition, this year you can buy one pack of the Headliners choice pack, which gives you 1:3 odds of pulling a 90+ overall diamond (and of course costs more stubs).

Big Dog Program

Big Dog Program - All-Star Tony Perez

The Big Dog Program will get you one pack from each set of Big Dog packs, and then it caps off with All-Star Tony Perez. You will reach the end of the program through moments, a Showdown, and PxP missions. There is not really getting around doing specific parts of the program, you’re essentially going to need to do everything from all three categories to reach the end of the program.

As for the card itself, I’ve never been a huge fan of Tony Perez cards. I do not like his swing, and he’s really more of an all-bat option, so it’s sort of hard to trust him at 3B, and you don’t really want to play him at 1B. This is one of those programs where I will probably end up finishing it over the long haul, but I don’t think I’m going to rush to finish it to snag the extra XP that you can put towards the Spring Cleanup Program.

On top of that, we’re getting so many All-Star cards that it does not feel like Perez is going to be super needed for any collection on the horizon at this juncture.
