'Definitely Got to Me a Little Bit,' Cavaliers Tribute to LeBron James Lifts His Spirits Amidst Devastating Lakers' Defeat

LeBron James just got reminded why he is special to his former team.

LeBron James’ retirement is a boat that can tip either way. The NBA legend has not given his verdict yet and has kept the expectations high among the audience. On Wednesday’s game in Cleveland, which might end up being his last game there, James and the Lakers lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-99. Cavaliers and James go a long way back. So there was no way they would let him go with empty hands and a heart full of defeat.

ESPN reports that the Cavaliers had a special tribute for LeBron James. During the first-quarter of the game, James was emotional as he witnessed the highlights of one of his most amazing matches with the Cavaliers. “I think it just comes from just being present. I was just more present today than I’ve been [in past trips to Cleveland],” James said. “[It] definitely got to me a little bit, for sure.” The game in question was Game 5 of the 2007 Eastern Conference finals. LeBron’s 48-point haul with a 25-straight to finish the game in favor of the Cavaliers will forever remain a legendary tale.

It was no wonder that he was more sentimental about the game compared to before. In his own words, “I’m just trying to take everything in, not take the moments for granted,” James said. “Because it could be [my last season]. I obviously haven’t made a decision on the future, but it very well could be.” His words are cryptic but still give out a strong message. He may not be sure about retirement this year, but he does believe that his glory days in the NBA are long gone.

LeBron James Keeps The Fans Guessing About His Next Move

Wednesday can be added to one of the worst games that LeBron wouldn’t want to recall. Aside from the tribute. There was nothing special about his performance against the Cavaliers. Sure, the Lakers have been victorious and dominant over them, but this time around Cavaliers were much better than the Lakers could have anticipated. 11 points on 3-for-10 shooting and six turnovers were the only haul that James could manage. It’s a far cry from the magical moments he has had in Orange.

James didn’t mince any words when he revealed,

“Obviously, the question gets asked more and the thought creeps in my mind more at 41 years old of when the end is and where’s the finish line for us to hang this thing up,” James said. “But the drive is how much, like, juice I can squeeze out of this orange. … I’m in a battle with Father Time and I’m taking it personal, and I am going to see how many more times I [can] be victorious over him.”
