NFL cornerback Darius Slay’s wife, Jennifer Slay, shared a heartfelt video on social media showing him enjoying quality time with their children, just days after the Pittsburgh Steelers released him. The footage captures Slay laughing, playing, and soaking up family moments, offering fans a glimpse of where his focus truly lies amid the uncertainty of free agency. While his career enters a major transition, the clip makes it clear that being present for his kids remains his top priority.
According to Sportskeeda, Jennifer shared the video on her Instagram story. It showed Darius at a local park with his children, enjoying some quality time together. He wore a black hoodie, matching pants, and white and black Nike shoes while playing with his kids.
Jennifer kept her caption simple, writing just two words: “Daddy duties.” The post came right after news broke that Slay and the Steelers were splitting up. Adam Schefter reported the separation on X earlier in the week. Slay’s agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey, confirmed the news to ESPN. “Steelers and CB Darius Slay have mutually agreed to part ways,” Schefter tweeted on Tuesday.
The family moment comes at a perfect time for the cornerback
Schefter added that Slay wants to keep playing in the NFL. The cornerback didn’t wait long to find a new team. He has already signed with the Buffalo Bills.
Getting family time now makes sense before he joins a new team. The Slay family is large and blended. Like other NFL families with heartwarming stories, Jennifer often posts about how important her children are to her.
In November, Jennifer celebrated her oldest son Trent’s 14th birthday. She shared photos and a long message on Instagram, calling him her “first born.” Jennifer had Trent while she was in high school. She wrote that he watched her chase her college basketball dreams, and now she gets to watch him chase his own.
Jennifer and Darius started dating in 2015. They have two children together: daughter Desirae, born in 2017, and son Desmond, born in 2021. Both became parents young. Jennifer had Trent in 2011 during high school. Slay has two sons, Darion and Demetrios, from a previous relationship. While some athletes face personal controversies involving relationship disputes, Slay keeps his focus on family.
