Rapper Cardi B made a public splash this week by defending her boyfriend, NFL star Stefon Diggs, on social media as he deals with serious assault allegations and then quickly pulled the post down. The New England Patriots wide receiver is facing charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault after a former personal chef accused him of physically assaulting her during a dispute in December.
Cardi B took to X with a fiery message claiming the accuser never told her anything about being physically harmed and even shared what she said was a screenshot of a text from the woman. She doubled down, saying she was confident in Diggs and the legal process, and included a personal element many fans were not expecting.
Cardi B Took The Defense Personal And Brought Her Family Into It
Cardi’s now-deleted post went beyond a basic show of support. Cardi B wrote, “Not once has that woman said anything to me about being touched.. NOT ONCE!! Mind you, we was talking every single day until she left that house and she JUST wrote me this.” She also said she shared the message to explain why she questioned the accusations.
She continued by urging critics to let the legal process play out, adding, “But I’m gonna let the courts handle this s**t and when it gets handled I want all yall talking s**t on your f****n knees with apologies just as loud as the way yall been harrassing over a lie… and I put that on my two month old son in the name of the lord!! That’s how confident I am.” Alongside it, she included what appeared to be a message from the woman asking her to contact a mediator and handle things in person.
By tying her defense to her newborn child, Cardi added strong emotion to the situation and blurred the line between her personal life and an active legal case. Some fans viewed it as loyalty amid heavy criticism of Diggs, while others questioned the judgment behind bringing her baby into the conversation and felt it shifted attention away from the legal process itself.
The Tweet Was Deleted But The Screenshots And Reactions Didn’t Go Anywhere
Once the tweet was up, it did not take long for screenshots to start circulating across social platforms. Even after Cardi removed the post, the images and reactions continued to spread, fueling strong opinions on both sides.
Some fans focused on how personal Cardi’s defense became and did not hold back in their reactions. One comment read, “Now why she always putting things on her kids? Weird.” Another added, “Trusting someone to the point of putting it on your two month old baby is crazy. People lie or minimise to try and present themselves in the best light. The only person she should put this much belief on is herself smh.”
Others took issue with what they felt were legal and ethical lines being crossed. One reaction accused Cardi of victim blaming, writing, “Victim blaming is crazy! And she just admitted that she was the one that reached out to the victim to try to silence her! this is not good posting this when you have an open ongoing Case she’s never beaten them dumb allegations!” Another fan focused on the decision to share private messages publicly, saying, “Hold up, she posted the texts??? No girl. The case is still active.”
At the end of the day, the post’s deletion might signal that Cardi recognized the reaction was stronger than she expected. But deleting a tweet doesn’t erase the impact it had once it was online. Whether this helps or hurts her and Diggs in the long run will likely play out over time as the case moves through the courts.
