10 Best Mods for NBA 2K25

Here are 10 mods that you should absolutely consider installing when playing NBA 2K25.

Despite the game featuring one of the most predatory and microtransaction-laden online components in sports gaming, NBA 2K25 is a great game at its core. And when compared to its sports gaming counterparts, fewer franchises do a better job at simulating a realistic game day atmosphere. But even where NBA 2K25 falls short in that category, modders have taken it upon themselves to fill in the gaps.

10 Best Mods For NBA 2K25

Realistic Dornas

Creator: half cup of coke

In case anyone doesn’t know what a “Dorna” is, it’s essentially the brand name for the board you see on the sideline at NBA games that displays ads. Because NBA 2K25 is a singular title beholden to licensing agreements, many of these Dornas don’t accurately reflect what might be shown at a particular team’s games.

The Realistic Dornas mod changes that and gives several teams in the game their own ads for their own arenas. As of now, the Realistic Dornas mod covers 15 teams, which is half of the league. And it’s constantly updated, so it can only be assumed that the list of teams will grow over time.

Realistic Wilson NBA Ball

Creator: xevan

In a sports game, it’s the tiniest details that matter when it comes to immersion. And yes, this includes something as trivial as the ball that’s being used.

While the vanilla version of NBA 2K25 includes a realistic Wilson ball, the Realistic Wilson Ball mod from xevan enhances the texture of the official NBA game ball and makes it more realistic than the model that’s used by default.

2024-2025 Realistic Jerseys

Creator: Pinoy21, gregotin, and bikerjimuk

A huge motivation behind modding games like NBA 2K25 is to accurately recreate what basketball fans see on game days. And having accurate jerseys is one of the best things you can do in that regard.

The 2024-2025 Realistic Jerseys mod from users Pinoy21, gregotin and bikerjimuk provides a big upgrade to the visual experience. Instead of the standard jerseys included in the retail version, Shuajota’s mod provides more high-resolution jerseys with better textures. This goes beyond the actual jersey itself too — it also includes more realistic-looking sponsors.

NBA 2K25 File Explorer

Creator: Looyh

Most of the mods you’ll see on this list pertain to pre-created files that you can just throw into a folder to apply. But what if you want to actually dig into NBA 2K25’s directories?

Fan-favorite modder Looyh has created a File Explorer and Model Viewer that can be used to easily import and export resource files from NBA 2K25. If you’re a modding enthusiast, the NBA 2K25 File Explorer is a must-have!

Attention To Detail Roster V3.0

Creator: CelticLG and AO

Thus far, we’ve talked a lot about what mods can make NBA 2K25 a more realistic experience from a visual perspective. But what about a mod that actually effects gameplay? In this case, it’s not even a “mod” in a traditional sense, it’s a roster you can download without any tools that we’ve featured before.

In the Attention to Detail Roster V3.0, several changes are made to give realistic tweaks to the in-game rosters and mechanics that will encourage more realistic outcomes. Some of these changes include changes to Player Badges, better simulation stats, realistic player overalls, G-League rosters, and sliders updates among a ton of others.

It’s a beefy update, so definitely check it out and see if it’s right for you.

2024-2025 Courts

OK, back to the visual stuff. As is typical in the NBA 2K25 modding community, getting the right courts to accurately reflect the ones in real life is paramount. And again, 2K modders have got you covered on that front.

In this 2024-25 court pack, realistic textures and logos are included. Courts for all 30 NBA teams are contained in the mod, so no matter which team you root for in real life, they’re included.

Speaking of courts…

NBA Cup Courts

Creator: SRT-Lebron

The NBA Cup — also known as the In-Season Tournament — has been a controversial inclusion into the NBA calendar since its inception in 2023. With many NBA fans criticizing the competition’s implementation as being gimmicky and unnecessary, the league and its teams have certainly pulled out all of the stops to ensure that it sells. One way they do this is by having specialized court designs during tournament play. SRT-Lebron’s NBA Cup Courts mod includes all 30 specialized NBA Cup courts for use in NBA 2K25.

Even if you don’t care for the NBA Cup itself, you have to admit that some of these courts look pretty cool. Something about the cups in the key just do it for me.

Realistic Arenas With Lighting

Creator: Hela

OK, so you’ve installed all of your visual mods. You ball textures look good, your jerseys look sharp, and you’ve got a big NBA Cup match ahead which is to be played on your modded court. But how do you get the absolute most out these improved visual textures? Well, realistic lighting would be a good start.

As part of the site’s goal to make everything about the presentation looks as sharp and crisp as possible, Shuajota’s Hela has provided a NBA Arenas with Realistic Lighting mod that will ensure your NBA courts and arenas are properly lit and better reflect what you would see either on TV, or live and in living color.

ESPN Scoreboard

Creator: vet and DEN2K

While TNT’s NBA presentation is certainly superior to any of its competitors (in my humble opinion), it doesn’t hurt to add some variety here and there. And ESPN’s basketball coverage is nothing to sneeze at. So say you’d like to emulate an ESPN NBA broadcast on NBA 2K25. Well, that option is there for you.

Though only an alpha version exists, vet and DEN2K of Shuajota offers players the ability to install the ESPN Scoreboard mod so that all of the visual cues in-game mirror that of an ESPN broadcast. It certainly adds a degree of realism and could come in handy when you’ve got an especially big-time matchup fit for a national TV audience.

Real New Shoes

Creator: Iced Americano

Whether you enjoy basketball or not, one thing’s for certain — no sport has produced better shoes for the general public. From Jordan, to Nike, to Adidas, and everything in between, basketball-focused sneakers have ruled the shoes market for years.

One mod made by Iced Americano — called Roster Update with 600+ New Shoe Mods — not only adds a base roster similar to that of the early goings of the season, but over 600 signature shoes that players will wear. Everyone loves a good basketball shoe, and if immersion is your be-all end-all, then having players wearing their true-to-life shoes should provide a massive boost to your experience.
