Welcome to the Next: Anthony Davis and Dwyane Wade Unveiled as Iconic Cover Stars for NBA 2K20

Generation-defining talent Anthony Davis honored with his second cover; Dwyane Wade closes out his NBA career on the cover of the Legend Edition

2K today announced the cover athletes for NBA 2K20, the next iteration of the top-rated and top-selling NBA video game simulation series of the past 18 years*. Six-time NBA All-Star, three-time All-NBA First Team, three-time NBA All-Defensive Team and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Anthony Davis returns as cover star for the Standard and Deluxe Editions. Three-time NBA Champion, 13-time NBA All-Star, 2008 Olympic gold medalist and 2006 NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade will grace the cover of the Legend Edition.

These iconic players will grace the covers of NBA 2K20, marking the latest edition of the game that has defined basketball culture for over two decades. All editions of NBA 2K20 will be available worldwide on September 6, 2019.

“I’m honored to be back representing NBA 2K,” said Davis. “Being picked as the face of NBA 2K20 means the world to me, and I’m excited for the fans to experience the best sports simulation in the world this Fall.”

Legend Edition cover star Dwyane Wade added, “I’ve been blessed to spend 16 years of my life playing the game I love at the highest-level, and to culminate my career by joining NBA greats as an NBA 2K Legend Edition cover star makes me incredibly proud. My family and I love NBA 2K, and I’m truly grateful to all of the fans who have watched me, and played as me, throughout the years.”

NBA 2K20 is Davis’ first solo cover appearance for the franchise after being featured as part of NBA 2K16’s star-studded cover lineup. In another historic first, Dwyane Wade’s appearance on the NBA 2K20 Legend Edition marks the first time “Flash” has been featured on the cover of NBA 2K.

“The NBA 2Kfranchise has the distinct honor of selecting the league’s best talent to grace the cover of the game,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Marketing for NBA 2K. “Anthony and Dwyane represent everything that makes basketball such a global phenomenon – whether it’s the thunderous dunks, transcendent talent or era-defining legacies – and serve as a true inspiration for the next generation of NBA superstars coming up in the league.”

  1. Not excited one bit about this. First... He's been the Cover. Second Why the hell is Kawhi not on the cover. He just won the championship.

I don't think Kawhi is interested in being on cover. I'm sure in the past couple years they probably approached him about it.
Sorry, but I can't imagine not liking a game or being overly disappointed because of a cover. I personally thought Kawhi myself and that 2K were waiting until he picked his team, but whatever. AD isn't a bad choice.

Yh Kawhi would have made a lot more sense. Or even if Kawhi wasn't down for some reason, at least a guy that hasn't been on the cover already. It still looks cool though.
It's been a while since I've bought, or even really played a NBA 2k game, but this year I may buy it simply because of the Wade cover. I'm not a big Wade fan, or Heat fan, or anything of the sort. But I'll be damned if I don't like that cover...
Gamers club is still active and it comes with a $10 certificate for preordering, surely I can justify this purchase...

Damn the marketing team really is more effective over there at 2k than the gameplay team eh.

    I guess...
I haven't played the game is a while because I'm not a big NBA fan. But I'm a video game fan, who gets attracted to/drawn in by covers, so I guess the marketing team is doing a good job. They earned one sale...
"All editions of 2K20 will release on 2K Day, September 6th, no Early Tip-Off. There are no physical pre-order bonuses (ex. poster, stickers, etc.)" per yyy2k (a mod on reddit)

Should have placed a WNBA player like Candace Parker or Britney Griner on the standard edition since this will be their first time bringing the women to 2K.

Now that would of been cool. Would of messed up things PR wise for them. And the branding would of be messed up. That would of been a big risk on their part.
I see some Kawhi clips in that trailer.....
Maybe a Canadian edition kawhi raptors edition cover ??
    Maybe a kawhi/AD lakers cover ??!!?? Oh my......lol
    Big Bankhead
LeBron probably hooked him up with the cover as a perk of joining the Lakers. I wouldn’t be surprised.

Anthony Davis was already on the cover of 2k16...

Yes I already knew that, and like I’ve said, I wouldn’t be surprised if LeBron hooked him up with getting this year’s cover. I personally would’ve went with Kawhi or Zion especially since they’re doing the #NEXT marketing for the next generation of stars.

Probably the most minor complaint ever. Like ever. I'm kinda disappointed that they didn't make the 20 in the 2k20 gold like they did with 2k10. I guess they decided to do that for 2k19 Legends edition.

Ummm... anyone notice the goggles on the bottom right of the cover?

    Lol......
    Good eye.....
    Kawhi, raptors Canadian cover confirmed......

I disagree. It's NBA 2K not WNBA 2K. They should do the WNBA justice and just make them a separate game.
