The WWE 2K series has always been a go-to franchise for wrestling fans to get behind their favorite WWE superstars and get involved in exhilarating, over-the-top matches. Like previous games in the series, WWE 2K25 gives you thousands of moves, including finishers and signature moves, to build a versatile moveset. Paybacks are one of these moves, and they’re highly tactical.
Players patient enough to time Paybacks properly can have a significant upper hand over their opponent and turn the match around. Unlike standard moves, Paybacks require you to fulfill some conditions before you initiate them, making them a game changer if you are already taking things smoothly throughout a match.
With this guide, you will be able to uncover all of these moves in WWE 2K25, including the hidden and secret ones, letting you turn the tide at the perfect moment.
All Paybacks In WWE 2K25
Resiliency

Resiliency will come in handy if you are stuck in a pin, submission, or elimination mini-game. Make sure your Special Meter has at least two bars of juice and you trigger the payback right on time for an immediate escape and a second chance to fight back. Press R2 and Triangle when you’re in those dire situations to quickly escape.
Low Blow
Low Blow will give you a significant advantage in hardcore matches, by stunning and slowing your opponent down with a surprise hit on their crotch area. This move can be triggered when you’re on the ground or kneeling, though many superstars (such as Cody Rhodes) can also do it while standing up. But if the referee sees you doing this, you’ll be disqualified. Like most Paybacks, press R2 and Triangle to trigger it.Â
Poison Mist
Spraying Poison Mist on your opponent’s eyes could bag you a potential win in hardcore matches. Remember, this is another payback that can get you disqualified if used in standard matches, so utilize it wisely. Stand opposite to your opponent, press R2 and Triangle, and temporarily blind them with Poison Mist to slow them down. This will buy you enough time to plan your next best move.
Power of the Punch
In no-disqualification matches, Power of The Punch can be a surprising and strong move. This move gives you a serious upper hand, allowing you to punch the opposite wrestler with hidden knuckles. It works only if you are standing opposite the victim and press R2 and Triangle at the right time. Unsurprisingly, a fist full of brass always hits harder than bare knuckles.Â
Run-In
Down in the ring and almost losing it? Summon an ally with Run-In to break up your opponent’s flow and regain control over the match. Press R2 and Triangle when you’re down to call in some help. The move applies to 1 vs 1 matches only.
Move Thief

Move Thief has always been a fan favorite. If you’re on the receiving end of a finisher, that usually means that your run is about to end. However, what if you were able to steal the opponent’s finisher instead? That’s what the Move Thief payback is all about. Like any other Payback, press R2 and Triangle at the right moment to trigger it.Â
Blackout
This one is for all you Undertaker fans. Blackout is a Payback that turns the lights off, and allows you to teleport behind your opponent. Of course, your opponent won’t have a clue as to what is going on. Once the lights are restored, you can surprise them with powerful attacks from unpredictable locations.Â
Rage
Standing inside the ring and initiating this payback will fill the remaining portion of your finisher meter. By initiating Rage, you’ll fill your Finisher meter, allowing you to perform a finishing move at the most perfect moment.Â
Freeze
Freezing or temporarily shocking your opponent may promise dominance in return. Once activated, this payback is a ticket to luring your victim into a cheap shot, causing further damage.
Iron Jaw
Getting stunned by your opponent and not recovering instantly could destroy the chances of you winning, and that’s where Iron Jaw comes to the rescue. Instant activation of this payback when stunned allows you to recover fast and dodge potential attacks. Press R2 and Triangle when stunned to trigger it.
Fireball
Shooting a fireball at your opponent’s face is perhaps the most brutal way to finish a match. To make this happen, face the victim and keep your eyes open for the prompt on your screen to shoot it at the perfect time. Press R2 and Triangle, and make sure the referee isn’t watching.
Paparazzi
Letting a cameraman distract your opponent as you lie down is possible thanks to the Paparazzi payback, which gives you leverage to get up and gain superiority over the opposite wrestler.
Comeback
Hold R2 and press Triangle to initiate a comeback. Follow the prompts once you are in the state to complete the Comeback. This move bombards your opponent with back-to-back blows for a short period to cause significant damage instantly. The activation requires you to react quickly to the prompts as soon as you are in the state for full effectiveness.
Powder
Similar to Poison Mist, Powder also lets you blind your opponent. Pressing R2 and Triangle quickly makes your superstar throw powder on the victim’s face, giving you extra time to hit while they struggle with temporary blindness.
Bully
This is a clever Payback move that forces the referee to count faster. It only works after a failed pin attempt though. Hold R2 and press Triangle after one failed attempt to quickly count him out.
Dirty Breaker

As the name suggests, this Payback lets you break your opponent’s incoming onslaught. When you’re on the receiving end of a combo or grapple, press R2 and triangle to break away from it immediately.
Ref Bump
Grapple your opponent and press R2 and Triangle while doing so to throw them towards the referee. It’s not good for the referee as he’ll be taken down, but this might allow you to get a couple of cheap shots in (or maybe even a steel chair).
Adrenaline Rush
When your character is tired or almost out of the fight, you can trigger Adrenaline Rush to give them a short burst of strength and speed. You’re also able to resist incoming attacks more easily. Hold R2 and press Triangle while down to trigger it.
Bloodline Run-In (Secret)
This one is quite similar to the Run-In, but only available for Bloodline members (The Rock, Roman Reigns, Usos, Sami Zayn, etc).
Soul Siphon (Secret)

By far the weirdest payback in the game. This one is locked by default and can be unlocked from the MyRise mode. When triggered, it allows you to extract your opponent’s soul as they levitate in the air. It’s as weird in-game as it sounds, but highly effective.
