All-New Legendary Teams Coming to NBA 2K20 - Some All-Decade Teams Revealed

2K has introduced some of their all-new Legendary teams, coming to NBA 2K20 this year. The game will feature All-Decade teams, dating from the 1950/1960’s, all the way to the 2010’s.

  1. I'm always accepting of any classic player love, so this is pretty alright. I'm not entirely sure I'll use these teams (prefer real life teams) but it's cool nonetheless.
My only nitpick... those jerseys are so close to the actual real life designs that I wish they'd just gone all the way and used the actual All-Star jerseys they're imitating. Maybe I'll be able to squint well enough to convince myself they're one in the same. In fact, I probably would have taken players wearing their actual era-specific team jerseys over fake jerseys.
Edit: In some cases, the only difference might be that it says "All-Star" instead of "East" or "West". That's workable.
this is such an amazing addition to the already broadening basketball spectrum OF an NBA basketball game....
Well done Take two And VC for pouring love into this years NBa 2k game!!!!
    Dope.
Only thing is I wouldn't really consider Dwight apart of the 10s legendary team. His career went downhill since he left Orlando. I would rather see him apart of the 00s
we already have MyTeam to run fantasy lineups, hope this is not addition to Play Now Online and you arent gonna get matched up vs them using real teams.

Hopefully, they'll fix the matchmaking for NBA 2K20. It was only broken in NBA 2K19 due to how they originally launched the progression system.

Lol I thought the same when I saw him, kind of through the whole pic off for me.
Isn't this another recycled feature? I recall having games against these sort of classic teams in the early 2ks, but the decades were split by East and West.
Magic Johnson was unstoppable on that 80s West team.

This absolutely is. I can't remember if it was Live or 2K, but they were definitely in one of the franchises in the early 2000s.
Oh well, still happy to see it included. I love the Legends/Classic Teams, so no complaints here.
I just wish it was split up into East and West. For example, an all 80s East team vs 80s West team. Maybe it is since the east and west players have different colored jerseys.

Yessir that's correct. A feature that shouldn't have been removed in the first place. I just hope they added more players to the historic draft classes.
Well...I probably won't ever use these teams to be honest but a lot of people really do seem happy with them, so that's fine. I just only feel like there's so much you can do with these teams due to them overmatching all the other non decade teams.

Not complaining, but I also would have preferred if it was divided into West/East teams. That would have gave us 8 additional teams to use...right now, I'm presuming that these teams are usable in PNO.

Looks like some new updated faces. I want to see the 80"s and 90's lineup. Too bad no 70's.

Looks like they will include 50s, 60s, and 70s as well.
Keep in mind, we could easily just have a 90s allstar vs 90s allstar and manually set the lineups for East vs West.
Now, how about some era filters and score bugs??
Nice addition I guess ... never going to use them honestly .... I’m waiting to see if they’ll actually give us the 2009 or 2010 Lakers as historic team. I mean they constantly show the 08 Celtics love like they’re the greatest team ever assembled and even that team struggled in the playoffs

If I'm not mistaken, the tweet said it'd go all the way back to the 50/60's, so I'm guessing the other rosters will be revealed at another time (or even nothing else, at launch).
Separately, as an aside because I figure it's bound to come up at some point, 2000's LeBron looks like he has a 2010's appearance and Kobe, though it's hard to tell for certain, almost looks bald in his 2000's appearance, but I guess it could be the close crop they added after release for his 2004 team.

    Always a complaint
Maybe they should put a it behind a MUT like paywall instead of giving it to you for free like others do right?

I don't think no one is really complaining. It's a nice addition, but it's basically reshuffling the cards. I'm just hoping they're usable in PNO.
I think the newest team will most likely be used the most. Only because of the 3 pointers. While obviously the older teams will be more paint based. I can't wait to see LeBron vs Malone, Duncan, Mchale.
Jerry West, Big O and Kareem. I don't even who the others are lol

I’m don’t mind these, I prefer classic teams but that’s just me.
I also don’t mind if you can use them in PNO......but ........
I DO NOT want tier 1 all decade 90’s vs tier 1 current raptors and will have to dashboard that match up 10 times in a row.......those days should be done and done with now......
I wonder who gets shafted on the 2000s team on the wing... They cant possibly have Kobe, McGrady, Vince, A.I., Ray Allen, Miller, Wade, Lebron, Melo, Pierce, etc

Huh? I'm confused. The only group that I could see being excited by this news would be the PNO users if the new teams can be used and maybe a very small group of people who plays Play Now offline, but don't care or know how to edit/download rosters. I'm mostly confident that the MyGM/MyLeague users already utilize the classic players in a different manner. Obviously, the MyPark/MyCareer/MyTeam users wouldn't care.
Geez...why do I feel like I'm forgetting to shoutout a mode?

I don't even care who it's for, it's there. I don't give a crap about online park players but I don't be like meh it was there already.
Look now it's a thread about being sick of legends.
Exactly what I'm getting at. Some people complain just because they have internet access, now even because of some actual justified reason

I'm glad they brought these back, to me they never should have been removed. Looks like they might even be in East vs West format considering the alternate jersey colors? If not it's still a nice addition to be able to play decade vs decade if you wish.

I figured the colors would just be for home and away, elsewise I thought the jerseys would have said East and West instead of being altered to just say All-Stars.

Tmac...have you seen his player model? If I were Tmac I would say no thanks and leave me out of the game.
Anyone notice that McHale was finally updated? Anyways this is a pretty cool addition even though it was apparently in the game previously. Still wanna see who the new classic teams are though...

Perhaps, but in the graphics the jerseys are different based on conference as well.. I could understand that maybe being the case by accident if it happened once, but every decade is like that. Maybe they just don't say East/West on the jersey, a lot of All-Star unis over the years haven't actually had East/West on the front.
Edit: For example, the jerseys that those 80's and 90's sets are mimicking, neither actually said "East/West" on the front on those actual jerseys.

Kobe and to a lesser extent Dwight Howard raise an interesting dilemma of recency bias, as they did all their damage at the start of the decade.
Howard hasn't been an All-Star in 5 years but he was an All-Star for the first 5 years of the decade.
He was drafted out of HS in 2005 and naturally his prime years came this decade (though Howard uncharacteristically peaked earlier in his career than most).
Should Kobe be on the 2010s team over Giannis?
Kobe was still dominant in the early part of the decade, and won a championship in 2010.
Giannis will assuredly be the LeBron of the 2020s team as his best years are ahead of him.
Giannis was drafted in 2013 but took 4 seasons to develop into an All-Star level player. How much weight do we apply to those non-star years?

Who cares? We need some Park news!

If that's all you have to contribute, just don't comment. It's pretty easy, yet it happens in every thread on here. Even if it's just a joke, it's still there and baits others or tells others it's ok to start piling on. Some of us care about this. If you don't, then don't comment just to comment and (in a round about way) belittle the rest of us who are excited about classic teams.
"I don't see who will use this" isn't contributing anything either. It's a new team option for people to use and that's all that matters.

And that's enough people. Not every mode is going to cater to 100% of people, or even 25% of people. I don't care one bit about Park but you don't see me popping in those threads to say "Yea I don't care about this, give me info on Classic Teams and MyLeague!" It's pointless.

This was my ENTIRE comment regarding the "target" audience for these new teams. Once again, I made a subtle hint that I'm hoping that these new teams will be usable in PNO. After that...what more can be said about these new teams being added to NBA 2K20? It's the same legendary players being redistributed in a different manner. It's one thing if they added an ENTIRELY new mode. In PNO, I already play with the Historic, All-Time, and Current teams in H2H online games, so....this announcement was supposed to raise my hype level how?
CLEARLY, you DON'T know my posting history. Most people know that mostly IDGAF about MyPark or MyCareer, so that's your fault for being "offended" by my other post. You came at me like I said that this was a waste of resources....

Oh wow look at that. They can add legendary teams for the guys obsessed with classics AND the WNBA?! I was told this was literally impossible because of the lack of time and resources!
On a serious note: This is cool. I’ll never use them. But I’m all for more entertainment for the player base. There are things I’d like more, but I’m not going to be one of those guys who disparages something simply because I don’t like it. This forum has enough of that lately. :)

Since Barkley is unlikely, I'd assume they'd replace him with Kemp. I also can't see TH on this team, I assume they'd replace him with Mullen? 2k always seems to like him.

I'm just going with who should be on the team (in a perfect world where everyone's rights are held).

Speaking of Kemp they need the prime one and not the fat version of him.

I thought Shawn Kemp looked pretty sharp last year. His legs might still need to be a bit skinnier but I definitely didn't think it was the fat version.

2K19 was a nice step forward for Legends, IMO
There were a lot if nice face improvements added throughout the year...along with a couple of player additions they snuck in toward the end of the year.
There was actually a good bit of signature stuff in there for legends too. I'm going to make a thread for this for 2K20 because I feel a lot of folks miss it, and kind of just go along with the tag line they're being completely rejected.
It can definitely still improve, but I cant wait to see what they've added this year.

i would like to know why Reggie Miller is a jerk every year and won't be in the game? Is it really about wanting more money? Same for Barkley... among others.

His sister was doing commentary for the game, they didn't renew her, and he's been petty about it ever since.
Charles is on an altruistic "Retired players should get more money" type angle. Like most of his points its well intentioned but not the most nuanced take.

    100 percent.
I was just saying this in another thread this morning but 2K knocked some their classic team improvements out of the park last year. A lot of the additions were so low key that it almost felt like discovering Easter eggs.
    1. They went all out on the retro jerseys last year, complete with years-in-use located above each option. Finally having the early 90's Sonics jerseys was just about worth the price of admission alone, to make no mention of home and road versions of the Sunburst Suns, multiple red Pistons alternates, and even late 90's paint-spill Cavs. It was amazing, quite frankly. You know you've done your job in this regard when gamers really have to sit back and rack their brains to figure out what jerseys are still missing.
    2. Lots of faces improved. Seems the original classic teams (via 2K11) are still reeling to variable degrees from the zombie generation crossover in 2K14 but forward progress was made.
    3. Signature packages. Vince Carter's dunk package is the most accurate to his real life dunking idiosyncrasies I've ever seen. Adding Shawn Kemp's was similarly blissful. It'd be cool if they continued to build off this (can we imagine the ferocity of a Kenyon Martin dunk package?) I'm also looking forward to the dribble packages mentioned in the gameplay write-up for guys like Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Dennis Johnson, and Tim Hardaway.
    4. The ability to freely edit names, copy players, and download DNA.
Honestly, all of those details go so far toward bringing these teams to life. They've got something special brewing here. My only hope is that this year only adds on and doesn't come at the expense of the removal of anything (which we've been through numerous times before).

They made a lot of nice changes to some of the faces over the course of the season. You just had to be looking for them to notice. They do a lot more than people give them credit for, some people just really act like a video game called "2k19" should also have an exact representation of a full 1988 season or something.. And that will just never be the case.

Made it worse that he agreed to be on the Dream Team.. Almost like a slap in the face for all of us that want him on the actual roster, even more so that you can't edit those teams on the console to copy him over a CAP. Although that team would have been really incomplete if it had been missing it's MVP.

I don't remember which years but she used to do the sideline reporting.. I don't think her likeness was ever in the game, I might be wrong, but for sure her voice.

She was sideline from what I remember. 2k9 I believe? Then Craig Sager....then the guy we currently skip over.

Someone told me a while back, the signature moves were removed in nba 2k17 and 18 for the legends, so if what you say it true, glad they brought them back in 19. I can't agree completely with the all the Legends faces. Guys like Vlade Divac, and check out Joe Dumars, they look like they were scanned on a Playstation 2 engine. Mind you, there's exceptoins though, if I recall, guys like Rodman look fantastic, Kemp, etc... But the ones I mentioned, and Isiah Thomas looks pretty atrocious, Bill Lambier, Danny Ainge, and check out how bad Rik Smits looks, it looks nothing like him, at least get the hair right.
    Sorry for ranting...

It seems a lot of the original retro teams from 2K11 and 2K12 were victims of a disastrous port/transfer between last gen and current gen. All the new teams added after the next gen crossover (most post-2000's teams) have generally looked pretty stellar but those original teams have had to be slowly updated year by year. Guys like Joe Dumars and Bill Russell look way better than the 2K14 monsters they used to be but in some cases (Dumars) they're still not perfect.
Regarding individual player signatures, MJ's palm pump fake came back in 2K19, and possibly his layup and dunk package too (don't quote me on the latter but relatively certain). In addition, guys like Vince Carter and Shawn Kemp had pretty legit dunk packages, right on down to Kemp's signature dunk contest leg-kick flight and at least one dunk where he'd double point after the finish.
Most recently, not to repeat what I said above, but one of the 2K20 write-ups mentioned a signature ball handler setup for guys like Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Dennis Johnson, Jason Kidd, Tim Hardaway, and Isiah Thomas.
So, assuming nothing ridiculous is removed (something we always seem to have to be on alert for), 2K's been working to flesh out the legends quite a bit.
I probably wont use the teams itself more then a few time but I'm glad its in. Especially if these teams feature new classic player additions. Barkley and Reggie will always be a highly wanted wish but I wont get my hopes up.

So we get the All Decade Teams and some new classic Teams. But what about the All-Time Teams? Also I would like to know if they left any classic Teams from last years Game out

man, I hope they're still there! Thank God will we still have NBA 2k18 to get our fix.
NBA 16 also had the most players on the bench for the classic teams, as the years went on, players were getting removed. Far as I know, Bosh is still not on the Heat 13. And you can't have the heat 13 and no Bosh!

Once a player retires his rights need to be reacquired. This usually falls more on the player than it does 2K.

I feel like this is penalizing Dwight a bit too much for what's happened most recently.. Dwight made 5 All-NBA teams in that span, 3 of them first team. 3 All-Defensive teams (all 3 first team), 2 DPOY awards, 3 top 10 MVP finishes, 2 were top 5, and came in second in 2011 (should have won).
He hasn't done much recently, but neither has Melo. I struggle to see logic behind Melo making the 2nd team and Dwight can't even crack the 3rd team over Aldridge.

Blake Griffin over Kevin Love? Really?

I’m not putting Giannis on my all-2010s team. He’s only had a couple all-NBA level seasons this decade.

True. He will most likely be one of the best of the 2020s decade team as long as he avoids injuries and doesn't get himself in trouble throughout the next 10 years.
