We’ve seen our share of fans getting voluntarily involved in a game and getting taken out immediately. A similar situation occurred in the Padres-Giants game. A kid ran onto the field and was brutally taken down by security. The kid has since bragged about the incident and appears to have no remorse for his controversial actions.
The controversy is surely confusing, as a kid so young decided to storm onto the field during a live Major League Baseball game. At the same time, security guards dealt with the matter so aggressively. The crowd at Petco Park also expressed their feelings by showering booes.
The kid who has been in the spotlight recently bragged about the incident in a video posted from a local San Diego kickboxing gym. He said the run was worth it and claimed Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. even winked at him. The kid certainly has the guts to own his actions; however, an attempt to invade fields shouldn’t be considered a heroic act.
Why Padres Fans Are Blasting The Lack Of Consequences
The incident has made a lot of headlines. The footage of the kid entering the field has started floating on social media. However, it has been getting removed from multiple accounts. While the sight isn’t pretty for sure, fans want everyone to see the repercussions.
The fans have shared their collective opinions on the matter, with the majority of them blasting the lack of consequences. Some believe the security was truly harsh towards the kid, and they showed it by booing them after the incident. Others believe that they let the kid off too easily.
The kid was speared from behind by a security guard and taken down. Other guards then approached to grab and escort him out of the field. The fans immediately voiced their displeasure at the security’s behavior. Another fan invaded the field later; however, he was also taken down by the security. This act was surprisingly cheered by the fans.
How One Kid’s Field-Storming Turned Into A Viral Talking Point
The young fan invaded the field on Tuesday night at Petco Park during the eighth inning of the Padres’ 5-1 win over the Giants. The moment will surely be remembered for quite some time.
The win for the Padres on Tuesday helped them snap a four-game losing streak, which saw them go from one game up on the Dodgers in the NL West to two games back entering Wednesday. San Diego is set to host the Giants for two more games before Los Angeles plays three critical games from Friday through Sunday.
The Padres are two games behind the fourth-seeded Cubs and 2.5 games ahead of the sixth-seeded Mets. They currently own the second wild-card spot, so it remains to be seen how they plan to move up the spot by their next games.
